That's what my kitchenware - particularly my plates and bowls used to be. Many years ago when I'd pick up a piece here and there. Or the dishes my parents gave me would one at a time break - so there were never any full dinner settings.

Nowadays, in my middle-class conformity, I have what you might call mass-produced suburban uniformity.. i.e... matching plates.

I think I am going to start rescuing random molds of these mass-produced suburban uniformity and turn them into a motley hodgepode of proud and individual works of art.

I will start this when I get home tomorrow by breaking random plates... then I will scour thrift shops for replacements. Besides, the act of breaking the plates themselves is, in a way, allowing them go out in a blaze of glory - releasing all the potential energy contained in the plate, held in the molecular structure of the ceramic, escaping in one smashing instant. The plate being nothing more than just the shell for a spirit, a spirit who will step apart from the rest and revel in its individual beauty. It will escape, you see? Ultimate release only comes to those who achieve their potential. At the time of breakage, it will be ready to realize that potential.

excellent Idea!

and then we can mosaic them together.

I wanna help.

i'm thinking seriously of packing up everything except one plate, one knife, fork and spoon, one coffee cup and one glass. then i wouldn't be leavin' my dishes dirty for three or four days in a row.
