So true. ;)

It's nice to have educated motorcycle driver around traffic.

It's even nicer to have educated traffic around a motorcycle driver. :D

If it weren't for peripheral vision, I might have been thrown off my bike three times instead of two. Also, I wouldn't have had that alligator sneak up behind me and scare the living shit out of me while I was at a red light. (True story!) :D

That is something I do each time I drive. When I see someone on a motorcycle, I give them a very wide berth. I know just how dangerous it is, because my brother was in a motorcycle accident and it wasn't his fault. He ended up having his leg pinned. He also has a metal plate in his head, if I recall correctly. He still has problems to this day.

Please, people, be careful and give motorcyclists a break. As in, don't tailgate them, don't make sudden moves to other lanes. Most are some of the best or decent drivers you'll find around.

Some ideas for drivers.

Yes indeed give the riders a bit more room than you would another car. We tend to change position in our lanes as we dodge obstacles that you don't even notice in your car. (Things like Tar Snakes and Oil Spots, not to mention chuck holes and debris.)

Don't just check your mirrors when making a lane change. Instead turn your head and look into those blind spots.

When getting ready to pull into traffic take that extra second and check the oncoming traffic a second or even a third time. It's amazing what you'll see.

Hang up the damned Cell Phone.

Look behind you when flipping something out the window. (Ever been hit by a ciggy butt at 60 MPH?)

Don't tailgate us.

Keep the road rage to a minimum please. We're a lot more vulnerable than you are in your car. Remember you have four wheels in contact with the road while we only have two. So I slow down to take a curve, it's because I don't care to low side and have you roll over my ass. If you're in that much of a hurry then maybe you should have left earlier.

Please try to remember that not all of us are idiots or outlaws. That guy with the loud pipes that pisses you off pisses off a lot of us as well. That fool that pulled a wheelie beside you probably did the same to me. (We call them Zoom Splats by the way.) If I scare you with my long hair and beard then I probably scare other riders. If I scare you because I'm different, remember that you're different to me as well.

The actions done by car drivers that scare me the most are tailgating me and trying to share my lane.

I can dodge the idiot who decides they just need to be in my lane. There's a reason I make sure my brakes work well. It gets my heart pumping a bit more than I like but I can dodge them.

Don't get me started on the tailgaters.
