A Memorial thread

It is ineffective to argue the way you do

I may be crazy, confused, naive and dangerous. But can you refute what I say?

You cant. You know why? Because I just parrot what the Muslims say.

THEY ARE HERE TO KILL YOU.

Are you slightly fuckin paranoid maybe? And slightly overreacting? Good god, calm it down - this isn't a thread about your insane ideas and paranoid fantasies - this was intended to be a remembrance for those who died last year - give it a rest.

Confused? By the naivity displayed, YES!

What does this mean?

Can you elaborate? Can you name one nation that was destroyed that stopped the others from following suit? YOU are the niave one.

You said there was a better way. What is it? And where has it worked?
If you are going to quote me, at least be intelligent enough to do it correctly. "Harder still to stand your ground and find a better way. " Does that say "Oh guys, I know of a better way!" NO, it does not. It says "to find a better way".

What we are dealing with here are fanatics. A select group of people not a whole nation to be wiped from the face of the planet.

Now that I have answered your question, answer mine. When has killing a whole nation stopped others? Obviously it hasn't. Who lives and dies and what gives you the right to determine that?????????????????????????????????????

What you are proposing would in effect start the end of the world. The killing you are proposing would not end, it would continue until not a living breathing creature was left. We have weapons, they have weapons. Its a no win situation the way you are trying to play the hand.

What I am saying is that there has to be a better way. Something that punishes the wrong doers while still ensuring the survival of those not responsible. I dont feel that killing an entire nation of people out of fear and retaliation is the answer.

Japan, Germany to name two.

We inflicted enough damamge on two countries.....THAT WANTED TO KILL US.....that they realized they LOST, and they changed.

We dont have to kill an entire nation, just punish them enough to get them to change ways.

If you get rid of Hussein, the evil is gone and Iraq id OK.

Oh, and we beat Russia, as well. Mostly with strong DETERANCE and ECONOMICS.

There is no other way. If you can think of one, let me know.

LOL............Oh my gawd, you are right. There they are, lined up outside my door........thousands of them just waiting to slit my throat. Damn it sucks to be this popular!

Thats exactly right, you just parrot what a bunch of yahoos say. I don't believe them and I certainly don't believe you.

Now be a nice little paranoid bozo and say your sorry for all the people who suffered and died so that you can spout off and be annoying.

Peace

I can only wish for peace. I will avoid sharing my politics here, and lovingly remember the dead. Let their manes hear words of consolation and remembrance. There are other places to declare war. To the victims and heroes I light my small light.

Thank You Freya for your kind words, and you are right this is a thread for memorial of the people who died. or the families that were hurt, and for everyone else who witnessed this tragedy. Your words were very touching, I for one am eternally thankful to our neighbors up north, and I felt very bad when during a few sporting events people from both sides of the countries booed each others anthems. Canadiens died on that fateful day, as well as died in fighting for a cause The US, no the World should believe in. I will not spew my political views here, though because thats not what this thread was intended for. So busybody if you wish to vomit your delusional political views that are formed by someone else, and apparently not your own start a thread some where else. And by the way I am a registered Democrat, and I kinda wonder when the last time you actually voted for any public office was? September 11th was a day we will never forget, its a day that i personally had night mares about, but it was also a day that brought Friends and Families closer together. I had friends and family I had not talked to in some time either calling or emailing on that night just to touch base to see if we were allright or just to say that we were still thinking of each other and still loved everyone. This is what this thread is about the way people around the world came together as one. Now busybody I said feel free to post your feelings of hate and revenge, and i still stand by that, We all had those feelings, there isnt one human that went through that day with out questioning thier personl fortitude or faith, but that dosent mean to go out and kill other people. If we go and out and kill for the sake of killing we are no better than the people who caused such a heart ache to the world. And busybody i refuse to believe the world I live the people I love the nieghbors I say hello to are that bad. There not. We may have our faults I agree, but I believe the vast majority of us are very kind hearted, because if not what the hell are some of Americas Best (my best friend may I add) fighting for. Busybody if you keep spewing your warmonger views I will not respond to them, just report them as Pet would say "DONT FEED THE TROLLS" and Skandalon thank you very much for your candle, regardless of what some may say it does mean something.

Politics or no...

... it was a really sad day. Hopefully, everything is being done to make sure something this bad doesn't happen again.

Not candles, but a picture I took of the light tribute at the World Trade Center site back in April.

As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, We became one color. As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, We became one class. As we lit candles of waiting and hope, We became one generation. As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno, We became one gender. As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, We became one faith. As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, We spoke one language. As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, We became one body. As we mourned together the great loss, We became one family. As we cried tears of grief and loss, We became one soul. As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes, We become one people. We are One color, One class ,One generation, One gender, One faith, One language, One body, One family, One soul, One people. We are The Power of One. We are United. We are America.

I read through this thread tonight, and this, posted by jasmine, is what I'm going to remember. I agree with JustPet - don't feed the trolls. So thanks to Freya, Ladyofthe Mist and Skandalon for your words and Woody for the candle images.

People all over the world remember the tragedy of 9-11. It touched Canada deeply. Sympathy to those touched most closely.

FWIW

I have voted in every election since I have been legally permitted to. I have not missed once. But what doe that have to do with anything?

Where did I post ANYTHING that would indicate that I was spewing HATE? If I say we must never forget who did what to us, and what they SAY THEY INTEND to do to us, and we must STOP them before they can act on their words, that is hate?

Dont you put locks on your doors? Dont you buy insurance for your cars and homes?

Didnt the same type of "TOLERANCE" exist for Hitler in this country between 1933 and 1939? And he detailed his intentions in his book, which we ignored.

I have formed my opinions from others,as you say. Yes, indeed, I have. From the ACTIONS and from the WORDS of the Muslim Fanatics.

Thanks

Krspy: I have that picture hanging in my office. I was a fireman for six years when I was much younger. Know the feeling...

As far as the issues of declaring war, I want you to know I could share volumes of this, from both sides. I teach this material at university level. It is a very complex issue and genocide is not the answer. But the dead need to be remembered for themselves on this aniversary day, and for what they were. Let their killers be forgotten and unnamed for this hour. They do not deserve to share the same time.

Where they were (are?) from

An earlier post listed the number of the dead from whatever country thet originated from.

Might it not be better and more accurate to say they were all Americans, resident or citizen? After all, Bin Laden considered them all Americans. Should we do less?

My hat is off and my hand raised in salute to all those Americans, regardless of national origin or claimed citizenship, who lost their lives to the murderers of 9-11-01.

Osamna binLaden, if you are found I hope it is under a mountain of rubble and only a skeleton. We knew what kind of coward you were when you directed this attacks. You have further proved your cowardice by not showing your face in public since that time. Does the Koran promise Paradise to such as you? I seriously doubt it.

Igor

Wherever we live, whatever nationality we are, most of the world unites as one because of this tragedy..

Thank You

I continue to thank those who post thier thoughts and candles and pictures for this sad day. Its all more about the healing process. Which can not and should not be rushed.

You are very welcome, Lady - my pleasure.

I have another non-candle picture. I took it next to a house I pass on the way to work...

How very lucky for us that you seem to be in the most unique of places when you take these amazing shots. It does indeed seem to be "floating". Thank you Dave.

Great Thread

All I know is that I live in the greatest nation in the world. A nation that anyone can express there thoughts whether agreeing or dis-agreeing and can express them freely. Unfortunately I do not have a candle pic or anything else of that nature I can only Say:

GOD Bless America !

Thank You all

I usually carry my camera with me... I had made a special trip to Hoboken to take the picture of the light tribute and was lucky with the Flag.

I was in Washington DC this past April on business, and it happened to be in a new building directly across from the Capital. By latest accounts, if it wasn't for the tremendous people on that last hijacked flight, this picture would be a lot different looking

It all still makes me sick to my stomach - but for as many horrible stories there are (esp. here in northern NJ and all around the metro area), there are that many more hero and heartwarming ones as well.

Glad you enjoy the pics.

Trust me on this Doug, what you've said is more than enough. Its more about a time to come together to remember and be thankful that we live in this great country.
