A Little Note To North Korea...

You might want to read this BEFORE you launch a missile our way.
The rest of the world is quite aware of this capability and resource imbalance so that's not the war that would occur. Aim for a mighty rival's vulnerabilities, not their strong points. And don't attack them yourself -- get someone else to do it and take the retaliation.

He will try to take out South Korea and Japan first which would be pretty bad for us.
It would still be a National Suicide move.

A half dozen nukes detonated in high orbit would wipe out America's civilian infrastructure and economics with massive EMP bursts. NK has the capabilities to do that. Or will soon.

And if it was US vs everyone else, then all that would be required would be economic sanctions by the rest of the world. The US is not completely self-sufficient.

And ask US military advisors how they would like to conduct a land war in Asia. Half the US forces would be lost due to having to garrison occupied territory. Then the Russians with more main battle tanks then the rest of the world combined would be let loose. Ruskie don't care about numbers of casualties.

I doubt any country could support full-scale modern warfare with another power for more than a few months. And other countries have nukes too.

American soldiers are probably propped up by high technology. Man for man, the US armed forces are inferior to many other nations.

Really one sided dreamy article.

He is literally starving his country as his father did before him, his making such a move would not be an impossibility.

And USA sub-launched MIRVs would leave NK a bubbling glassy plain some minutes later. That's a National Suicide move. Much better to hack the infrastructure. From Serbia, preferably.

The USA-vs-everyone-else scenario was a hypothetical for comparing military might. Or do you expect Pres Tromp to wage war on all our allies and enemies at once? BTW USA has not been self-sufficient since before the War of Southern Treason.

And ask US military advisors how they would like to conduct a land war in Asia. Half the US forces would be lost due to having to garrison occupied territory. Then the Russians with more main battle tanks then the rest of the world combined would be let loose.
Take the Byzantine approach: have clients-puppets do the garrison scutwork. And Russki MBTs won't last long without air superiority; they'd be easily picked-off from above.

I doubt any country could support full-scale modern warfare with another power for more than a few months. And other countries have nukes too.
Quite. Depending on just how full-scale the war between powers, it could be over in hours. So would most of humanity. Then Earth becomes another example of the Fermi Paradox.

He is literally starving his country as his father did before him, his making such a move would not be an impossibility.
He's starving the people. The landmass hasn't been obliterated. Yet.

He is young, give him time :(
I give him about 1.5 years till the coup. But I'm not taking bets.

@Hard_Rom: Ever played wargames? I wrote some, board and video, and not thumb candy. Jim Dunnigan's STRATEGY & TACTICS journal drove me. Yeah, wargames are fun and instructive and let us roleplay many scenarios, simulate possibilities. How do setups, variables, random factors affect outcomes? What happens if the whole world (except Belize) turns against USA? What happens if we try to wage WWII-type tank battles in a cyber environment? What happens if we garrison occupied Tajikstan with Turks? What happens if Kim nukes Honolulu? Play it out and see.

Your points I responded to earlier, and other rhetoricals in that article, are like wargame scenarios. Play them out, sure, but play out a zillion other scenarios too, because ya just never know. But don't cheat. Much.

US society has more important things to worry about. Like what is Kim K wearing, has cheating dog Blake Shelton kissed cheating dog Gwen Stefani in the last five minutes, fan duel, kitty gifs.....

Nukes, who needs to be concerned with those?
