A little shout out thread.
Name a lit story or author that influenced/encouraged your writing, or maybe was even the reason you started writing.

I'm one of those people who were writing before I came here, but the only person who ever read it was my wife and of course she's a bit biased.

My first story was a fairly simple BDSM femdom story, but I'd written a few chapters of a taboo series, but wasn't sure how it would be received here because it was a lot deeper than "look my sister has tits" and for some reason that was a lot of what I found when I was poking around here.

Then I discovered Paco Fear and his stories Words on Skin, Stolen Kisses and Macallan promises, a sci fi/taboo crossover that is one of a handful of stories to have a W H and and an E.

His stories blew me away because there was conflict and depth and emotion, the exact things I had in my stories-although nowhere near as good as his-this was more than Mom's hot why not or a sister blowing her brother so he wouldn't tell their parents she dented the car, there were real stories with character development and slow burn build up.

Going further, my first story was rejected, I had no idea why and had never come to the boards. Because I liked his stories I reached out to him through private feedback and asked if he could look at my story.

he got back right away and said sure, he then sent back the story with a ton of red lines, suggestions, but also encouragement and a link to "how to make your characters talk" because my issue was my dialogue tags.

Now having been here so long I realize what he did is the exception not the rule. Authors here on the boards tend to be the type to try and help, but not many would spend that much time with someone they didn't know at all.

Its a shame he hasn't posted anything in a long time and was never that prolific, but his body of work has an amazing amount of success here, and he's about the best 'sibcest' author I've ever read and I still use him as the bar I try to hit with my more serious Taboo pieces.

So...you're not around to read it, but thank you, Pacofear for the advice and example.

I have to post one more, and another taboo author who to many in the Mom/Son readership was the undisputed king of that genre.

Alwayswantedto.

Sadly he pulled his work a few years ago because he was terminally ill, and his family didn't know about his stories and didn't want them lying around where they could be found. Before he left I believe he was somewhere in the top 5 authors list.

I knew his work, I'd read a lot of it and like PF his stories were fully fleshed out stories far more advanced than the usual fare, some of them a little controversial as they had some darker overtones and a couple with some dubious consent.

But every one of them was excellent, the guy turned a story about brushing his mother's hair in a sexy AF and romantic several page story who can do that?

I was blown away when in 2012 I wrote a mom/son that had some rather depressing themes and overtones and wasn't for everyone...or so I thought as it narrowly missed winning a contest, but I was blown away when I received a PM from him telling me how amazing the story was and how impressed he was and to keep it up.

For me that was on par with Tom Brady telling a HS Quarterback he had what it takes.

Furthermore I wrote a Milf story that he commented on and was recommending that everyone read it. We didn't speak often, he kept to himself, but we shared several long e-mails about writing during which I was struck by how humble he was and his claim he was learning from me as well.

My last message from him was telling me he was pulling his work and he didn't have a lot of time left. He told me to carry on the legacy, that me and a few other taboo authors were the future of the category, and that I owed him for getting to slide up a spot in the top ten once he left:D

He was a class act a great and imaginative writer who took a inherently sleazy category and gave it substance and merit. One of the best and to this day the biggest compliment I have received here on a Mother/son story is when someone said I was "On par with alwayswantedto"

Whatever happened to him? Does anyone know? Did he say anything before leaving or did he just disappear one day?

He made an impact in a relatively short time, only writing stories over a span of about three years.

He occasionally popped up on the forums for a few years after he'd stopped posting stories, but even with that its been at least 5/6 years.

I never caught wind of him having any health or other issues. I think he just drifted off, too bad, his work is excellent.

DanielleKitten offered me a ton of advice and support early on. She was the first reader on a lot of my experimental ( non-Danica ) stories. If it wasn't for her encouragement, I don't know that I'd still be around today, and I certainly wouldn't have the following I do. She was the one who pushed me to participate in the Laresa chain, which was my breakout moment.

There are plenty of others such as AuroraBlack, FallingtoFly, SelenaKitt, SlycWillie, RedHairedAndFriendly who were there supporting me, but Danielle was the first and brightest influence.

Hmmm... I started to write long before LIT was the gleam in someone's eye. My first story was a Sci-Fi crime drama. My second was a kids story about a cat.

Then there was a long time that I wrote nothing. In that time period computers change from 16 bit to 32 bit and my first two stories were lost to the world.

The authors that inspired me where Robert A. Heinlein and a bunch of others. When I first stumbled upon LIT. the first stories I read did not impress me. I had found Penthouse Letters before LIT.

Why did I start writing erotica? Because there were only a few stories that I liked to read on LIT. So, I started to write what I would like to read and fuck everyone else. Sorry but if you don't like what I write, fuck you. If you do, great, read away and enjoy.

There are two authors here that influenced me... Bobfr and LogansRunCanada. Pick a story for either and that's the one that got me to writing. Of course that was back when Loving Wives was a civilized place to post stories. Long before the moral assholes came to spout their shit and grief at being one of the cuckold.

I’m sorry if he’s passed away. Bless him, for making your life and those that loved his work lighter and brighter.

I have a few others I like and follow – although I don’t tend to ‘add’ too many to my profile. I do like Newbie2008 for his cuckolding fantasies and SamSlam for his incest/taboo erotica. These seem to be about the best written stories online here, and not as salacious as say Loving Wives – and the readers seem to be less hostile for hostiles sake. Far too many posts on the stories are tantamount to trolling, but the Incest/Taboo category seems to have a more mature, and articulate audience. The writing by the likes of SamSlam are very good and craft well told stories. In the ‘Loving Wives category j267 and Newbie2008 write well crafted stories that are quite well crafted. j267’s stories of day have the edge in quality for myself.

A couple of authors I did like who’ve not posted in a long time are Author on Africa and JonathanT who deal with white families who’s wives and daughters are ‘intoxicated’ with Black African lust.

I haven’t thought about it a great deal as I tend to look at stories. Some writers and I wouldn’t mention them are good, but they have a very limited range and their stories are just variations on a theme, so each story feels very repetitious. I did read a bit of one man’s stories, and a recent one is over 90 Literotica pages long. I thought my God, that’s insane.

I'll echo Lovecraft re Paco Fear - to be honest, his are the only incest stories that ever really went "click" with me, and I have no idea why. DrMabeuse is the other, "You've got to be kidding, this is how you write erotica?" writer who really impressed me.

I'm not sure I can say "influenced" me, though - other than to know erotica can set a very high bar to aspire to. To dream of high mountains!

You have a great taste in your inspiration, I’ll check those out.

You’re absolutely correct about Loving Wives readers. Some of them are just absolutely vile, even the idiots who post their names too. Well forget the haters. They’re as good as trolls. They don’t like cuckolding themes and they’re reading Loving Wives stories. Like loving swimming but hate getting wet.

This is a difficult one to answer. I can't point to one author in particular who influenced me. I read a lot of erotica for years before I wrote anything. I think I started reading stories at Literotica sometime around 2005, perhaps earlier, and didn't publish anything until the end of 2016.

Several authors wrote stories that helped shape my erotic tastes and interests and inspired me to write. The following are a few of them:

Wonderstorm wrote stories about female exhibitionism that were often based on somewhat outlandish premises, but they were executed well, with some attention to character. There's an element of whimsy to his stories that I like and that is in my stories as well. Exhibitionism is a major theme in my stories and that's inspired in part by Wonderstorm's stories.

Spacer X's interminable, very silly, but to my taste eminently readable incest + series Six Times a Day was, to my recollection, the first story that got me interested in the types of incest stories that I like to read and write today -- stories that are not entirely serious but that have lots of buildup and teasing and erotic conflict and tension before the payoff. My incest stories definitely are influenced by his stories.

Al Steiner's stories influenced me and inspired even though I don't write stories anything like his. Although he has some great shorter stories, he's probably best known for his novel-length stories that aren't necessarily erotic but that have lots of sex in them. He has a great feel for storytelling and character development and when I write I'm mindful of (even if I don't follow) his example in those areas. Some of his stories are here at Literotica but some have content not allowed here, and you have to go elsewhere to find them.

No question about it, Lovecraft's How To Write Incest Like a Motherfucker (the title alone is worth the price of admission) is the single most influential "how to" guide I've read on Literotica. I read it before I wrote any incest stories and it's definitely influenced my writing. He totally nailed the genre and what makes it tick and I encourage anyone who wants to write incest stories to read this article.

I love DrMabeuse's work. Absolutely, tongue-lolling-on-the-keyboard love it. Oddly, I liked some of his earlier things rather than some of his later things. I wonder what happened to him? His stories got reordered and re-dated, and I'm pretty sure some are missing. I tried Googling him to see if he'd gone elsewhere, but never found him. (Just Googled the pen name. Not the r/l trail of breadcrumbs. I'm not that creepy.)

He pulled stuff because he published it. His pen name was Elliott Mabuese I'm pretty sure) and he was published through Selena Kitt's excessia, one her original authors if I recall.

in 2008 I think he won e-book of the year or something like that.

But I'm not sure he's done much recently.

Elliott Mabeuse influenced me here early on by affirming my writing of stories I posted here (as he did, for instance, in his comment on my "Descent into Chaos," posted as sr71plt: https://www.literotica.com/stories/storyfeedbackboard.php?id=364952&pagehint=6, which led to us having off-line conversations about writing for Lit. and also to an author/editor relationship) and then later in exchanges when I edited the books he published through eXcessica. The most direct influence here on me, though, is my main publisher, Sabb, a Lit. author, who suggested I post stories here in the first place, who publishes me at BarbarianSpy, and with whom I coauthor as Shabbu, having found someone with a similar writing style and an enthusiasm for what we write and how it differs from the more popular writing here, but that that is OK.

I've got my start through Redskye. "Strange Days" was a series which caught me by surprise because I never figured I'd be into futa erotica. I mailed Red over a few missing edits and we developed a working relationship at first - I'm still amazed Red trusted my miserable eyes to improve the storiy - and later a friendship. Eventually I showed Red some of my scribbles (after translating them to English of course) and got a resounding "publish it!" So I did and that's why y'all are stuck with my ugly mug. Red has been swamped with real life five or so years ago. We've briefly spoken over the past years, but writing was pretty low on the agenda by what I could read between the lines. Or maybe Red was sick of me butchering the stories and went for a more capable editor, who knows.

No idea who directly influenced my writing. I shamelessly admit I heavily borrowed sentence structure and word use from better known authors in the mainstream before I found my own two feet - around the time "The Temptation of Gheeran" came about. I always think I've been formed by the likes of Lustbader, Robert E. Howard, Michael Moorcock and H.P. Lovecraft, but I have no bloody clue if that comes across in my stuff.

I mention this everytime, but "With Mom's Help" by hammertime is problablyl my most influential Lit story:

https://www.literotica.com/beta/s/with-moms-help

The reason being, the format is what a mom/son story should be in my opinion. Mom is reluctant, but she has a goal in mind which pushes her to do more. Lots of build up and teasing to a satisfying conclusion.

It's 2 pages, but it packs in a lot of great scenes. And it's straight to the point.

That formula works for any genre.

Another author would be Stormbringer:

https://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=5817&page=submissions

His stories of SolomonKing and Fresh Off The Bus were an eye opener to me.

Mainly because he showed that erotica is limitless in a real world setting. Meaning, he can blend hardcore sex with scientific research or a criminal investigation with law enforcement. I've never seen it done on that level or treated with such realism. It makes a story that much hotter.

An early encourager of mine here was Maonaigh, whose kind remark on my first story, No Men to Love, led to an ongoing friendship. He's also a fine writer, and a pleasure to read.

Xavier Mayne, who doesn't contribute here anymore, is one of my favorites, despite writing in a category that's not my thing- gay male. His stories had an influence on my own use of imagery. Hope Among the Deserted is just excellent. Even his lowest-rated story, A Love like Fireflies, has one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever read. It takes place in a grove lit only by stars and fireflies (on page 6 if you want to read it.)

Among current writers, Chloe Tzang and YDB95 are definitely inspirations, but really, a lot of folks here have written stories I wish I had dreamed up. :)

LaRascasse helped me from almost the minute I started writing in February 2020. He was generous about teaching me about Lit--the use of the site and how I could push my writing for personal growth and to satisfy readers. He and I have very different writing styles, but he encouraged me to grow in ways that satisfied me and my style. He was generous about editing a ton of my stories under this pen name and another one. I'm so grateful to him.

I have to say Quince, particularly https://www.literotica.com/s/a-funny-thing-happened-1
which was recommended on one of these forums and why I started reading the Lit forums.

Also M.Millswan who loves photography and isn't ashamed to be geeky in his stories.

Made clear that there was an audience here for something a bit different, and the latter that stories don't have to be perfect to be fun and enjoyable.

My inspirations

Many years ago I read A Proper-Send Off by SweetestThing. I spent many years after that in a frustrated search to find stories that sparked my imagination as warmly as that story did. It's fair to say that her story, and her character Sarah, is the seed from whence my character Jo grew.

I spent many years dreaming up my own story about the romance between Jo and Jill, never seriously thinking I'd write it down.

Then I discovered CareyThomas and Salandar. I started with Carey's Five Years and Four Days and Could You Be Mine? Then Salandar's The Boxer and The Mechanic. I started to get a glimmer of what one can do with words. The feelings one could evoke. And then I read Carey's Ghost of a Chance... and I was undone.

I was gripped with an uncontrollable urge to put MY characters down on the page. Not because I thought I could do it half as well, but because I knew how I felt about Jo and Jill and saw, at least the glimmering of the possibility, that I could make others feel the journey of my girls that I felt in my head.

And now here I am, closing in on the end of my second series. I could not have possibly have imagined my work would get the reception it has. And there's not a chance in the world, that I ever start writing down Hard Landing - Chapter One, without them leading the way. Much less have the courage to press the "submit" button that first time.

So, here's to you, SweetestThing, CareyThomas and Salandar (my friend Sal!). Without you three ladies, I'm not an author.

I’ve not read too much of Stormbringer lately, but I felt it was too ‘Mandingo’ after a while, the same one note played over, and over again.

The one of the wayward son is really good. I had a similar idea with a son and daughter in an idea I worked on ages ago.

In my authors I read I’d forgotten a very good writer, ManyEyedHydra, his stories are again based on very limited themes in the erotic horror genre but I’ve found them to be very good, I particularly like What Kevin Did Last Summer, that has a reality and authenticity that I found very compelling and drew me into the story effortlessly.

These are the three people from LIT who gave me something to aspire to.

Definitely PacoFear. His stories still stick with me even after reading them so long ago before I even thought about trying to write anything of my own. Before him, I didn't know that erotica could be more than just stroke material--that just because it was hot and steamy didn't mean that you couldn't pull at your readers emotions.

lovecraft68, because she is an obvious master of her craft, and no matter how many of her stories I read she always manages to make each one unique, and always pulls me in from the first paragraph.

and lastly, LostBoy, his world building is nothing short of incredible.

Another writer and myself used to check each other’s work, but unfortunately that went by the board sometime ago, and she is the only one who has influenced me. She always got a good rating for her stories but has now improved to the point she has stories at the top end of a Top List. Something I will never achieve. But I take solace in there are more experienced and better writers than myself who have never achieved the distinction either.

Apart from her I can’t think of anyone who has specifically influenced me, although I’ve read many stories I’ve liked, but I suppose I must have been influenced subconsciously.

Alwayswantedto was a great writer and tremendous inspiration.

I read his stuff, and it was like I found something I loved but didn’t think could exist.

I started writing some things, and a few stories in, I wrote one that drew some heavy darts. Discouraging blows.

Next thing I know, alwayswantedto messages me to tell me how much he liked my story and my writing. I am so thankful I got a chance to thank him and let him know how much his writing and his words meant to me.

Great guy.
