opening narration
i had never had the chance to live in one country for more than a year. i'm no army brat, but i've known many who can identify with my situation. it's all because my dad is this head honcho ir guy with the company he represents. whenever there's a problem at one of the corporate offices we have to move their so he can, as he calls it, "fully embed himself in the situation." i call it a pain in the ass.
i've lived in 20 different countries and am fluent in spanish, german, japanese, french and portuguese. i've even tagged down mandarin now that i'm in taiwan.
my mom finally went to bat and got my dad to let me stay in one place for at least the term of my grad work in taiwan. i know it seems funny that he drags me around with him even though i'm now 22 years old but he just can't let go of trying to make me see the light and go after corporate ir. as if living with him and moving constantly hasn't swayed me from that long ago. he was more than perturbed when i chose to go into genetics. i went through months of him complaining about how his son wanted to become a nerd with a pocket protector and lab coat studying cells and what not.
well, anyway, i've been attending NTU's (national taiwan university) graduate program in genetics.there's many cute girls here in this school. i've definitely started to become intersted in the female student body here. a few girls have caught my eyes. and my buddies have done nothing but harangue me for not going after the few that get my heart pumping and something within stirring.
three girls have this effect on me...i'm still figuring out whethger i should pursue all three or focus on one at a time.
i continue to wonder as i walk to my next class and round the corner of the hallway in front of me.
