A Life for a Price (closed)

Severik looked at her in confusion at her comment about food. He was an immoral, and therefore, didn't need to eat to sustain himself. Sure he could eat if he wanted to but that was usually only for the pleasure and experience.

He decided not to mention this to Jane. No need to create another argument between themselves. Then he suddenly realized that, to help maintain his disguise as a human, he had to act like one.

Nodding, Severik folowed her example, and grabbed a few pieces of food.

After breakfast they headed out to town. It would be a lot less inconspicuous if they drove to town on their own, rather then take a ride in the limo. Her mother had been a bit ostentatious when it came to her car selection. But luckily she had kept her daughters old bug.

Once in the car they headed to town. Things had changed drastically since the last time he was here. Cars for one, electricity, television, just to name a few. She did her best to educate him on their long drive about the way that the world had become.

Pulling in to town she headed for the mall. It was the quickest way she could think of to educate him on life as it had become. Have a demon as a bodyguard was over whelming for her. But to imagine what it must be like for him to see how busy the world had become was inconceivable to her.

"I suppose we take things for granted these days compared to your last visit" she mentioned casually as they started their tour of the shops. Their first stop was to a Jc Pennys men section. With a few choice selections in day wear, night wear, and some formal, she had him try them on until they got the sizes correct.

With the wardrobe selected and purchased they made their way to the shoes. None of this seemed to really matter to him. But he was quite hard to read. "I must seem like a complete waste of time to you" she advised him as they headed back to the car. "I know nothing other then what I've seen in the movies about magic and things related to it. My mother never told me any of this." she sighed opening the boot to place the items in.

"my understanding is that you'll protect me, and help me learn how to access or use my gifts. Like a tutor i suppose. Whatever sacrifices I have to pay, i suppose my mother thought worth it for my safety."

Indeed, all of the changes and advancements that humanity caused mixed feelings within him. On one hand, humans seemed more prone to committing sins and their vices, which pleased him. On the other hand, they were stronger, more organized, and more connected, which made him nervous.

At Jane's comment, Severiks simply nodded, "I am compelled to protect and educate you whenever you need it or ask for such."

As he said those, he looked at Jane's body, examining it and wondering how she would be during sex. She was very beautiful compared to other females, and had a good figure, all of which caused him to smile mischievously.

"I am compelled to protect and educate you whenever you need it or ask for such."

"good then we'll start when we get home." The ride home was quiet. He certainly didn't have much to say in the way of conversation. In a way he seemed annoyed to having been summoned.

She was afraid of what her payment would be for the lessons. Sex had never been one of those things that came up. She had always thought it would be with that special some one. Instead it would be with a demon that seemed to despise her presence.

He certainly wasn't doing anything for her self confidence. But on the other hand it wasn't his job to hold her hand. He was a demon, and she would simply have to pay the price.

The quiet ride to the house was... unusual for him. Jane seemed to be thinking of something and too nervous or afraid to say it. However it could just he him misinterpreting her body language concidering he hadn't been around humans in a long time. Now, more than ever, he wished he had his "friend's" ability to read minds. It would definitely come in handy right now.

Also, Jane seemed afraid of him. Then again he was a demon and humans in this world, or a majority of them, thought that his kind were simply myths and legends. "You need not fear me. Dispite how you act and what you are, I won't harm you. Unless our bond is broken, I am to be your... what's the word you humans use? Familiar? Protector? Something like that."

He took a breath and, in a lower tone, said, "I am not angry at you for summoning me. If that's what has you worried."

She almost jumped when he spoke breaking her silent thoughts.
"You need not fear me. Dispite how you act and what you are, I won't harm you. Unless our bond is broken, I am to be your... what's the word you humans use? Familiar? Protector? Something like that."
then he took a breath and, in a lower tone, said, "I am not angry at you for summoning me. If that's what has you worried."

Jane stayed silent for a couple more moments before speaking. "I must seem silly to you, knowing nothing about this world i'm suppose to be a part of." she glanced in the rear view mirror and then continued.
"I think my sacrifice is what has me most distraught. I have.." she swallowed and then continued.
"I have no experience with boys. I've spent all of my time focusing on my studying, and being intertwined with my passions of art. Is it because i am a virgin that i was able to summon you? Or if i had been impure would it have made a difference?" she made a turn down the road glancing again in the rear view mirror. "I think we're being followed."

Severik turned to look behind them. All he saw were several vehicles that, like theirs, were traveling along the road. However, one did seem to be closer than the others and had been behind them for a while.

Smiling, he looked over at Jane, "I could deal with it." A nearly invisible sphere of silvery mist circled around his hand, "Accidents are common for you humans during vehicular travel am I right. A small wave of my hand and a certain vehicle may suffer a certain accident."

"lets be certain first" she said a little spooked by how easily the spere appeared to him. In time she would be less surprised by things of this nature. But she was still a bit skittish. "I have an idea" she said as she turned on to a dirt road. Sure enough the car that had been trailing them turned as well. "perhaps we should find out who they are and what they want before we get violent" she advised. Her hands trembled as she made a partial u turn blocking the road.
The car skidded to a stop. The creepy man that was at her mothers funeral opened his door and stepped out. "that's the guy from my vision" she advised visibly shaking.

Severik frowned at the man, as he wondered why he was following them and, more importantly, why he was following Jane. He sensed Jane's fear and nervousness and, for some reason unknown to him, felt protective of her. Very overly protective.

Putting a hand on Jane's left shoulder, he whispered to her, "Don't worry my little mortal. He wouldn't be able to harm you while I'm here."

Then, taking a step to stand in front of her, he stood uo straight and glared at the stranger, "What do you want?"

The stranger looked a bit shocked at being addressed by someone else. Perhaps he didn't notice them get in the car together. "Its between me and the girl" he advised rather cockily trying to get a hold of her eyes.
Sev's words were reassuring to her. For the first time she felt as though he was on her side. Standing behind him she avoided the glances from the man. It was apparent that Sev wasn't going to let him anywhere near her.
"Your mother had something that belongs to me, I want it back" he advised still avoiding Sev.
Jane kept behind her protector "what?" she questioned with hesitation.
"Your power" he advised coolly not caring if Sev knew or didn't know the little bitch he was protecting was a witch.
"That's not an option" she advised with a little more confidence.
"you can't even use it, you'll need training and you have no clue how to find it."
the man hissed at her.

Severik snorted in disbelief. Another mortal who sought to steal power from others and thought they could control it. When would they ever learn.

Shaking his head he glared at the man, "I'm sure she's more capable with her power than you would be able to. You have no buisness with such. Go back to collecting money and acting upon your lusts. Or whatever it is you humans do these days."

Obviously the man didn't know that Severik was a demon, otherwise the man wouldn't be here right now and he wasn't worried if the man did find out. What would he do? Call the authorities?

"I'm sure she's more capable with her power than you would be able to. You have no buisness with such. Go back to collecting money and acting upon your lusts. Or whatever it is you humans do these days."

Jane smiled to Sev's back at his words. The creepy man sneered. "Boy you don't know who you're messing with." With that the creepy man made the ground rumble with a sway of his hands.
Jane gripped onto Sev to steady herself burying her head in his back. "tell me what to do tell me what to do tell me what to do" she whispered over an over again into his back as she trembled.

Severik looked over at her and smiled, "No need to worry. I'll deal with him."

Looking at the man, Severik smiled as he extended his right hand and pointed at the man then, drawing upon his demonic powers, sent forth his dark power. The power appeared as a nearly invisible, cone shaped wave that shot towards the man, moving almost too fast for anyone to see, and hit him with a force equal to that of a speeding subway train.

"No need to worry. I'll deal with him." she nodded and stayed behind him. The next moment she felt the energy he used and watched as the man crumpled broken against the fence. She gasped burying her head in Severiks back. "you killed him" she exclaimed with a horrid gasp.

Other then television she had never see someone killed. After the initial shock she stepped out behind Sev and walked cautiously toward him. Her hand went into his pocket taking out his wallet. Her eyes went to his ID and then opened his wallet taking out his cash

Taking a rock she smashed his windshield and his driver side window out. She searched the car and found herself drawn to a grimoire stuffed under the seat.

Wiping off her prints from the car and wallet she went back to the car hand him the book as they sped off.

Her breathing was erratic, her heart raced. She was now an accessory to murder, and attempted to make it look like a robbery.

When they reached home she was out of the car just as fast and ran to the first bathroom to throw up.

Severik was slightly surprised by Jane's reaction, throughout the whole aftermath of the attack and the car ride home, but was completely understandable. From her nervousness, heavy breathing, and shaking; it was obvious that she had never seen a person die. Or, at least, never actually witnessed it in person.

When they had arrived back at her dwelling, he followed Jane as she ran into the building. Even though he quickly lost sight of her, considering he was walking and she was running, he honed in on her aura until he stood outside the bathroom door.

"It had to be done. He was a threat to be eliminated. His death prevents future complications from him. Keeping him alive would have presented a lot more unseen outcomes." He paused for a moment before continuing, "If it makes you feel better, his soul is probably on it's way to the hells." He lowered his voice to a bare whisper, "I just hope he doesn't end up in the service of any of my enemies."
