A letter to Pres. Bush

The President is aware of the cost...

Those that say he doesn't, didn't look into his eyes when he reported on the WTC/Pentagon/PA/Columbia events.

Everyone around him says he's very emotional about this, but it must be done. If he doesn't act, and a catastrophe happens, he is responsible for not taking action to insure the protection of the American people.
He took the same oath of office as the present seditious representatives that are hamstringing every step we make to insure the safety of our troops.

Forward your email to the President;

Let the soldiers know you care;

It sounds like your son values his freedom and the freedoms that we enjoy here in our country thanks to the effort and sacrifices of people who came before him, people like you. Thank you again.

In the same spirit a letter home from a son stationed on a carrier in the Persian Gulf........

Dear Mom and Dad,

As I was headed back from Naval Coastal Warfare, I notice that two CH47's were preparing for take off. Knowing that I had some time, I decided to pull over and watch. The typical sequence happened: revving of the engines, Helo engineers walking around making sure everything is operating normally, the blades start to spin. Typical stuff.

But then I look over and look at our ships in port and realize where we are. Back home this take off sequence would be routine. But now it's more than that. These aren't just piolots, these are warfighters. Helos like those bring our troops into battle for a simple reason: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And that's it. Granted at the heart of this action may be oil, but you won't hear that come from the pilot or soldiers lips. They put themselves in harms way for the people back home, that they don't even know.

Then it hits me, I'm one of them. I know I'm not the same as the Marine or soldier who will live out in the desert, going days without a shower, eating nothing but MRE's and midrats. I am not the piolot who dodges live fire so he can land his troops safely and then return for another load. In no way would I believe that my experience is the same as theirs, I provide logistical support to those groundpounders and pilots, but they do the real work!

Back in the states John and Suzie Smith live their lives, day in and day out, and don't even realize the sacrifices being made for them. They take freedom for granted. I can say now that freedom is not free at all. Too many people believe their "rights" are absolute and they shouldn't have to sacrifice anything. People who turn their backs at the American Flag and refuse to sing the National Anthem have no idea of what it takes to keep their rights alive. They believe the Constitution is what protects their freedom. They couldn't be more wrong. It is the American Military that protects their freedom, not a piece of paper. The Constitution does not stand watch at 0200 with an M-16 in the freezing cold and ensure the perimeter is clear, but I and thousands of others do.

Dad, I know I haven't seen the same things you did in Vietnam, and to be honest, I hope I never do. But I now have a glimpse (and only a glimpse) of what you lived. Thank you for your sacrifice. I appreciate it, even if others in the US didn't.

Much love.......

Hell of a bump Plasticman......powerful story.

I'll have to admit at this time that the original letter is mine. I dint say this at the first because I dont want it to sound like I'm tooting my own horn. This goes so far beyond me and so far beyond my sons. This is a global sense of upcoming tragedy and fear.

I've never opposed war when it's in the nature that nation has strived for. I would answer the call of my Country if it came. I'm just a scared father that fears for his sons like I'm sure thousands and thousands of parents all over the world are doing too.

Yes, as parents, we fear for our sons and daughters, just as our parents feared for us, and our parents parents feared for them. War is reprehensible, but often necessary. We are the strongest free nation in the history of the earth. For the sake of our children and our childrens children we must do whatever is necessary to preserve that freedom!

This country has had to fight for freedom from day one. Anybody who can't understand what this is all about must be smoking dope. All you have to do is look at a map to see the path from Afghanistan to Iran to Iraq. This is not about oil!!! It's about freedom. The Frogs (French) don't want it because they have 60 Billion with a B dollars worth of oil contracts with Iraq. The Germans don't want it because they have been selling all kinds of banned stuff to Iraq. If we find all those documents guess who gets discredited. As far as weapons of mass distruction look at the map. We didn't finish the job in 1991, I hope we finish it this time. I remember in the early fifties when I was a boy and we were close to an all out nuclear war with the Soviet Union people were saying "BETTER RED THAN DEAD." I said "BETTER DEAD THAN RED." If you want to keep our country free then you better be ready to defend her with your life.

NOTHING IS FOR FREE

I'm sure that it's been planned already, but what if we form a special ops force to remove Hussen and his cabinet from power? What if we did that and minimized the death count?

I know that hunting a single person in a large country can be a formidible task...but what if we tried? He is the single most publicly recognizable person in Iraq. How could he hide that well? If the military leaders are right and the people of Iraq are tired of the butcher tactics, you'd think that they would rather give up the person responsible rather than facing collateral damage.

And the parents of those special ops forces soldiers?? Do they not hold the same values that you do? Do they not love their children and worry about them the same way you do? How do you distinguish who's children it's OK to jeopardize? It's OK for them, but not for mine?

I served six years in the Air Force during Viet Nam, I'm sure my parents would have been horrified with some of the things I did. My dad served and fought in France & Germany during WWII, I'm sure I'd have been horrified by the things he did. I have two kids serving with the military now, does it frighten me, of course it does, but I'm prouder than hell of them.

Wood

You are afraid to toot your own horn??????

Yet the ANTI AMERICANS scream all the time.....

Thank you for standing up FOR America.....

G-D Bless you and your SONS!

Freedom

"Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose". Great words sung by Janis Joplin. We all have much to say about this upcoming war. I cannot help but think that we, as Americans, are very arrogant to demand a country to disarm when we do not seem to be doing the same thing. What are we really fighting for? Is the blood of one American on the sand of Iraq worth it? Perhaps if America stopped manipulating other countries and pay attention to the ills we have here we would all be better off.

How arrogant we are to think that the USA has the answer to all of the world's problems and that our way of life is a way of life all people should have. I can certainly see the flaw in this way of thinking, can you?

I do not have children. I am not even old enough to have a son of age to go into the military if I did have children. But I can promise you this, if I did, I would send him ANYWHERE to keep him safe and prevent his blood from spilling on the sand of Iraq. That is just too high a price to pay.

Singing songs, smoking dope, waving signs, chanting, protesting war, skipping school and all related activities will get Hussein to disarm.

What will get us to disarm?

Your naivety is overwhelming, Angela. If everyone adopted your philosophy I'd hate to even think where we'd be today!

Thank you for your assessment, Plasticman, now I know where you get your handle from. You disagree with me so I am naive? Isn't this what I was saying about arrogance?
