I've been there a few times.... but to be honest...always glad to come home to my quiet and peaceful world here!
I'm just a kind of country bumkin I guess..... bright city lights and such are nice, but I love the nights lit by the moon and stars more!

Well, to be perfectly honest, I like the nights when they are lit with scented candles, crackling fire in the fireplace, soft music...but I digress. :rose:

Hi Immortale....

I sure do hope I can make this trip a reality..... seems life gets in the way sometimes.... but I am trying to make this a priority!!

nice to meet you!!

Cate

Hi Cate:rose:

I agree that life can get in the way too many times, there is so much i still want to do, so many places to visit but other things can make that complicated, especially when you have kids. Time is precious and sometimes you do have to push hard for something but its always worth it:)

But more often I hang out....they're fun that way!!! My kind of people!!

I hope to one day find a home somewhere where i love that can be a family base, somewhere for my children and their children when they need it, even if i am off travelling somewhere:)

Hey, Cate and Amante ..... two of my favourite ladies, and getting on like a house on fire. :)

That's great!

That was the whole idea of this thread, somewhere where we could come and post about anything, and not worry about which number comes next, whether it's the Word Association or the Word Express we're replying to, or which letter have I got to start this post with? :D

Going back to what you were discussing ..... I'm a home-town boy, born and raised in Wolverhampton, lived in the same house for donkey's years (just extended rather than move to a bigger one), my sister lives four miles away across town with her husband, although one of her daughters now lives in Leeds, but the other one lives here in Wolverhampton, as do my parents .....

I like to travel, but since having the children, haven't been able to do that so much ..... but one day I'm going across the pond to the States ..... I've promised myself :D

Now i feel the odd one out, every one seems to live near their family, having family all over means i do get to travel plus i go away by myself once a year, as for the states some of it appeals to me, especially New Orleans. My sister lived over there for a while last year and she enjoyed.

Yes, I fancy visiting New Orleans, but then again, I want to go to so many places in the States if I got the chance ..... I'd love to go and spend 2 or 3 months over there, just touring around, but ...... well, you know, real life has a habit of taking ideas like that and trashing them for you ...... :D

The problem is responsibilites:( i would love to take 3-6 months out and just wander all over, so many of my friends have done that, its not so much a question of money but children, i would love to take my eldest with me, but my youngest aren't old enough and i would never leave them for more than a couple of weeks, but then the joys of parenthood bountiful and they are not dependent on you for ever so i have plans;)

Just kind of popping in....

Ahh, the man of many words has a forum to communicate with others on a one on one level....splendid! I applaud you, my freind.

When I've had some rest, I'll read the whole thread. People in this country especially, but in "advanced" countries the world over, lose sight of those less fortunate than ourselves. I had the opportunity to see this last night.

On a cold, rainy, windy night, I got off the turnpike for fuel. A few blocks up the road was an underpass of a higher road. Going under it, I noticed a shopping cart, piled with belongings. Up under the overpass was a bed of blankets, in them a man or woman with no where else to go.....

Lest we forget.

If you ever come this way Higher you must let me know....please.... and Boston should be a stop..... since our countries have a common history here!!

so glad to have this thread!!!

Everyday i am aware how much pain and suffering there is in this world, how many have nothing and everyday i do something, i know how lucky i am even if my life is far from perfect. Remembering these things stops me from being petty and gives me an outlook on life that really changes how i am, i often get into trouble for being to outspoken:rolleyes:

I watched Tears of the sun the other day, it really is a moving movie (though cheesy in areas)

year ago I found a quote on the back of a sugar package no less.... when people start to complain or whine about their seemingly petty troubles I remind myself (and sometimes them) of this:

Be grateful for what you have.... and be more grateful for what you do not have, that you do not want!!

things could always be more difficult, illness, family troubles..etc...... so when I find myself getting less than grateful, that is what comes to mind.

I couldn't agree more, :rose:

I few years ago something happened in my life that shook my very world, and every day i am reminded how it could have been worse and i am thankful and it has taught me alot and got me doing things and meeting people i would not have before.

same with me.... I am very lucky to be alive today...... so there really is no need to live any other way than grateful for life and the people in my life!!

it sure can get interesting...... there but for the Grace of God go I.... and I'll keep my struggles, rather than take someone elses..... at least mine are familar to me!!
