Can anyone explain to me why I always get stuck with telemarketing people? You can bet everytime I answer the phone without checking the number first it's one of them.........

Try this trick ..... when they ask for you, say "Hold on a second and I'll fetch her" and then go finish your tv programme or doing the dinner or whatever. I guarantee they'll be gone when you get back ..... and their phone bills will be rocketing!

Here's what I used to do. I think they put me on their "do not call list". Whenever a charity called, I listed politely. We discussed the extrodinary need. I asked the caller how the recipients were chosen. Then I changed. I asked how I could get some of the money because I fit the profile. I talked rapidly, not letting them say a word. I began to sound like a mad woman. The caller always hung up and I never got a call from that group again.

"Guttering, fascia?"

"All new"

..... pause .....

"Conservatory?!!"

.... deflated sigh .....

"So are you thinking of replacing any of these in the near future?"

"No"

...... pause ......

"Can I quote you on any of these, should you decide to replace after all?"

"Excuse me, just exactly which part of NO do you not understand? The N or the O?"

dial tone .............

yep.. got my hubby to bring over his remote controlled car..... kept both of them occupied for hours!!!!

My evening? Not bad thanks ..... was running Dad's Taxi Service again for my daughter, but so what's new? Got to watch ER though, which is one of my fave shows on tv .....

Yep, got both my boys driving, and my daughter will be 17 later this year, so driving lessons here she comes!!!

Can be nice, though, can't it? A walk along a beach in winter? With the wind blowing through your hair, the surf breaking on the sand, the sound of seagulls echoing in your ear? Then back to the cottage by a roaring fire, with a glass of wine and a loving companion?
