Now this is the way to open an article, or a story.

The ball tore a hole in the cold October air, headed out toward the Capitol dome, gleaming white in the starless sky. Jayson Werth tossed his bat and pointed to the home dugout at Nationals Park. Red fireworks exploded behind home plate. Werth’s teammates charged out of their dugout and the raucous fans exulted, all of them warmed by the knowledge the baseball season still lived in Washington.

As for baseball, we're rooting for the Tigers. :)
ETA: Oooh, especially if they play the Yankees in the next round. Then I'll really be able to get behind Mr. Tat's team.

Yeah, I know, but that's okay. :)

I was at the dentist yesterday and she had to use a tool she called a "thumper," also known as a tapper. I said most people would probably think of the rabbit in "Bambi." I thought of the thumpers from Dune, which the Fremen used to summon the worms. We are each our own kind of nerd. ;)

How about a little O's support, please, for Mr Penn? :) But yeah, we'll root for the Tigers if the Yanks advance, in no small part b/c Mr Penn despises the Yankees.
