I skimmed (because my eyes don't focus so well in the mornings), but I spent the summer of 89 with the IDF and there were armed women out in the field with us. Maybe they weren't "combat" troops, but they had a bigger gun then I did and were within rocket range.

Political Tourett's....perfect. :D:D

TrumpShitFuckRacistWopBitchBushCuntAssholeConservativeAssholes!

SuckIt.

And the histrionic type of - highlighted in lighter ink - comment underneath his main post was just as funny

I find it refreshing to see that the country in real danger sees reality whereas the country not in danger simply lowers expectations and standards.

Joel Chandler Harris collected stories of female heroines, and the stories illustrate how men and women differ in war.

During the Revolution the British captured Aiguata, Georgia. The men fled.

One of the men left his home and his wife and kids. A squad of British cavalry came to the home.

The wife invited the troopers in for a rest and a hot meal. As she vooked the food she made her kids polish the British boots.

As the Brits ate she cleaned their guns, loaded the guns, then killed all of them.

I'm impressed.

Females aren't ersatz guys. They do things different from guts.

Female combattants are definitely a non-issue in all SORTS of societies...

Necessity was the driver in most cases, not politics. Good point, Flatlander!

I once read that across that border women fighters in combat positions existed since the 60's, probably earlier even. Here:

When the ladies can line up and prevail against men in sports then they might be ready to line up against the men in Isis, the Chinese or Russian army. I think there's a role for women in the military, always has been, but not if we have to lower any standard.

How many lives is it going to cost before this particular experiment in PC is discarded?

What the author doesn't expand on is the fact that the Caracal unit got their asses handed to them in a combat situation. They were well trained, well equipped, and well supported. What made the difference is same reason men and women don't compete against one another in sports.

I think that it was there, but you had to read between the lines to infer that something happened, in reality, to reverse the course.

<Bows> my pleasure, eh? :D

No, MY pleasure.

So, your position is that there's no "necessity" for gender integration in Western combat forces?

Or just US forces?

Totally agree with this and note thousands of years of military history that weigh against the notion.

Jimi, I surmise that he's talking the political component here, the notion of equality through the mechanism of lowered standards in order to ensure females in the combat ranks for the purpose of career paths.

Well, that would suit the M.O., certainly. I was actually trying to get an engagement without rancour, as befits MY M.O. :(
