I took some 'time off' this evening.
Since that's not actually possible, I took the kids to spend their Christmas money. Felt like I was reliving my childhood as one picked out Malibu Barbie (did her tatas shrink?), and the other picked out a Carebear and Colorforms. That was kinda cool.
I stopped on the way home and got the kids Personal Pans, and the husband a burrito at the slightly weird Taco Bell/ Pizza Hut drive through place.
When I got home, I served the food in it's wrappers so as not to dirty dishes, put the chicken I had intended to turn into chicken enchilada casserole back into the fridge, and went in to the livingroom to read.
I actually sat and watched TV for the first time in I don't know when.
At 8, I let Mr PCG watch 24 while I read stories to the kids, sang a few songs with them, read some more stories, and snuggled them til they were ready to sleep.
Then, I got my new bathrobe, my bubble bath, my smutty romance book, and my favorite candles, and snuck away to the bathroom.
40 minutes of sitting in the tub with steam that smelled like coconuts rising around me. 40 minutes of reading in absolute silence. 40 minutes of not a single person wanting anything at all from me.
It was a good night.
