A Giant has Fallen

I read "The First World War" not too long ago. It's an amazing book, very enlightening, and showed a great deal of research... and maturity. An awful lot of military historians are too big on the "rah rah" bits. Keegan made a point of demonstrating the horror along with the courage.

Not the easiest read, though. He could just have easily titled it, "The War on Conjunctions," because he seemed to believe that there was nothing the word "and" could do that a comma couldn't do better. :)

This news is a downer, and a reminder to go get more of his stuff.
