I talked to the dr about it and she said it was pretty normal. Instead of yelling at her for doing it, gently remind her that it's not something you do in public. And make sure she washes her hands whenever she's had them down her pants.

I did exactly what the dr said. And I got yelled at today from my mother. She told me I am encourging her to masturbate. I said.. "Yeah.. and? The problem is what exactly?" Mom said "People who masturbate are vile, perverted people. And it turns them into child molesters." I said.. "hmm that's odd. I thought masturbation caused bad eye sight. And that is why I had glasses. *shrugged my shoulders* Guess I was wrong."

I walked out of the room.. and looked back at my mom. Her jaw was on the floor.

Well my daughter is 7... I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what masturbation is.. That is why I'm teaching her that touching herself like that is to be done privatly.. not at the grocery store, the dinner table or sitting in the living room while watching tv with the family.

I think you did the right thing with your daughter. Ive had to tell my 6 yr old son to stop playing with himself in front of me and others. Lol on the story, but me and my mom are the exact opposite. She is a very blunt, frank person (only in the home), and ever since she discovered I was sexually active, that's her favorite topic with me. She doesn't really get into details, but even her brushing on the subject makes me uncomfortable. After all she is my mom. She gets a thrill out of calling me 'her little prude'. Quite not humorous.
