Time stood still as the 2 of them stood and talked outside the church, before they knew there were no cars left in the parking lot. Laura enjoyed being around Kevin, he made it easy to talk and be around him, not to mention he was incredibly attractive. It was almost as is they couldn’t get enough of each other.

When he invited her back to his house for coffee and to bring Peaches, she happily accepted the invitation. “I’d love to join you this afternoon, it’s so beautiful out and Peaches will be happy to run around with Thor. They’ve formed quite the friendship. Is there anything I can bring? They spoke for a few more minutes before parting to their houses, Laura went inside and told Peaches that they were going to be spending some time with Thor and Kevin, Peaches let out a happy bark and wagged her tail.

Laura ran upstairs and changed into a pair of gray linen shorts and a light blue fitted tee along with a comfy pair of slide on sandals. She piled her hair into a loose bun and had some loose pieces of hair framing her face. After about 20 minutes she got Peaches into her harness and attached her leash and began their short walk over to Kevin’s house and knocked on the door.

Thor ran to the door even before Kevin heard the knock. "Oh yes, there is a surprise for you pal." Kevin walked to the door and opened it. Thor sat right by his side, but it was obvious he was excited that Peaches was visiting. "Welcome." He stepped back from the door to let Laura enter the house. As she did, Kevin gave her a little kiss on the cheek before closing the door behind her.

"I am really glad you could come over. I stopped and got pastries on the way home from church. Oh, and I bought enough for a lot more people that the two of us. I wasn't sure what your favorites were, so, I basically bought one or two of everything they had." He smiled at Laura. "I guess after today I will have a better idea of what to buy next time we do this."

They walked into the kitchen. Kevin poured coffee into two mugs and then he poured the remainder into a carafe so they could take it outside with them. "Cream and sugar are already out on the table. If you could grab the mugs, I will take out the pastries and the carafe." They carried everything outside and placed it on the table. "I figured we would leave the pastries on this table instead of the table between our chairs, because it would reduce the temptation to eat too much of the sweets."

After Laura was finished fixing her coffee and choosing a pastry, they both sat down in the chairs with their mugs and small plates on the small table between them. It is a really beautiful day and I am happy that you came over. You make it even better." Peaches and Thor were playing in the yard while Laura and Kevin watched. "I think they are happy that we are together this afternoon."

"I must tell you that I really enjoyed our date last night. I haven't enjoyed myself that much in a really long time. In my mind, everything was perfect, and the fact that you are here with me again today is a wonderful extension of last night." Kevin reached over and placed his hand on Laura's. "Beautiful company on a beautiful day."

When Kevin greeted them at the door with a smile, Thor was right there beside him wagging his tail, happy to see Peaches. “Well thank you, looks like Thor is very excited, because I know Peaches is just as excited to see Thor.” Laura smiled as Kevin placed a soft kiss on her cheek and welcomed them in. She bent down and unhooked the leash and harness so the dogs could play together.

“Thank you for inviting us.” As they walked into the kitchen she could smell the coffee brewing and the wonderful scent of a wide variety of various pastries and baked goods. Laura’s eyes widened as she looked everything over, “Kevin did you buy out the whole bakery? This looks absolutely amazing!” She wanted to try everything. “Yes, definitely will know for the next time we do this, this is incredibly sweet of you.”

He led her out on the deck where he had a carafe of coffee and sugar and creamers, she even noticed he had a small thing of agave nectar sitting next to the sweeteners, he really paid attention to details and she admired that. “Kevin this all looks amazing, thank you.” She stood on her toes and kissed his cheek.

They both grabbed a plate and put a few items and fixed their coffee to their liking and made themselves comfortable on the sofa typed chair on the deck. As they nibbled and sipped their coffee the dogs ran around in the yard as they relaxed. “I’m happy we came over too, I enjoy spending time with you Kevin and yes it’s a truly beautiful day today. They really do get along wonderfully and she is always so happy to see Thor, I think they’re happy we are together too.” She smiled and placed her hand on his.

“I’m so glad, I enjoyed myself immensely, every detail was absolutely perfect.” When he told her that her being here now was a wonderful extension of last night, she felt as if she would melt. He placed his hand on hers and softly caressed it as they sat there. “Yes, it certainly is.”

It was a gorgeous day. The dogs ran around a little. Then, they came and laid at Laura and Kevin's feet. Laura looked incredibly gorgeous, which was her normal. He was so attracted to her. He was surprised at that. After the divorce, he did not think that he would get involved with another woman for quite a while. Things in the marriage had been so bad at the end that he felt he would be happy being by himself. Laura changed all that.

Now, he wanted to be with her whenever he could. He knew he couldn't push too hard. After all, they both had jobs that took up a lot of their time. He wanted their free time to be together, though. This was very evident from the fact that they had been out on a date last night and were now spending the afternoon together.

Kevin got up to refill his coffee mug. He picked Laura's up, also. After refilling both mugs and making sure the right amount of agave nectar was in Laura's (yes, he had watched how much she put in her first cup) he carried them back and sat them both on the table between them. Before he sat down, he leaned down to Laura and gave her a kiss. It wasn't a passionate kiss, but it wasn't just a little peck on the lips. It was a kiss that said he wanted more, but was not going to go there, right now.

Then, he sat back down. "I could spend every Sunday out here like this with you. It is so beautiful, the company is incredible, oh, and she is beautiful too." He looked over and gave Laura a big smile. "I was talking about Peaches, but you are pretty good looking, too." He winked at her. He saw her return his smile. Laura had the greatest smile. Damn, he wanted her so bad. He wanted to be one with her. He hoped there was a path to that, but he wasn't convinced yet that there was any interest from Laura.

Laura could not get over at how beautiful the day was turning out to be and being here with Kevin made it all the more enjoyable. The dogs eventually returned to the deck and laid together at Kevin and Laura’s feet after running and rolling around in the grass. After she finally found the courage to leave her toxic ex fiancé, she never expected to meet someone as wonderful as Kevin, with every day that passed she grew more and more attracted to him.

She looked forward to the time where could spend time together as their jobs kept them busy, but it just made spending time together after a busy week of work something to look forward to. It was evident that they had a
wonderful connection and it seemed to grow each time they were together.

Kevin stood up and took her coffee cup with him to refill, when he returned he leaned in and kissed her softly, it sent shockwaves through her body as his warm, soft lips brushed across hers. She moaned softly and smiled when he sat back down next to her, taking a sip of her coffee she was impressed with the perfect amount of agave nectar had put in her cup. “This is perfect, Kevin.”

“I would not object to that at all, as a matter of fact I’d enjoy that very much.” She gave Kevin a soft big smile, the kind that went right to her eyes. He was so attractive and she just wanted him to take her in his arms and wrap his body around hers but she didn’t want this to be all about sex. Laura hoped that eventually they could get to the point where they became intimate with each other to become one.

Laura blushed when he told her she was beautiful and then adding that Peaches was as well. She thanked him and winked right back at him, he had the most amazing smile. After a few minutes she curled her legs under her and laid her head on Kevin’s shoulder and sighed contentedly as they sat close together.

Kevin watched as Laura curled her legs underneath her and laid her head on his shoulder. He thought about how wonderful it would be if Laura curled herself into his lap. He knew he would enjoy having her there with his arms around her and holding her close to him. The fact that she felt comfortable enough to lay her head on his shoulder told Kevin that she was feeling more relaxed around him and it felt like she was accepting of the fact that this might develop into some type of relationship.

He could not believe that Laura was so relaxed with him. He had been wondering about what Laura really thought of him and if she had any interest in a relationship. He was starting to believe that she did. He reached across and placed his hand on Laura's. He caressed it lightly as they sat there quietly. What a perfect da it was. In fact, Kevin couldn't imagine it being much better.

They spent the entire afternoon out in the back. The dogs would lay around and then go off and play for a little while before coming back and laying at Laura and Kevin's feet again. Someone looking at this scene that knew nothing about them would think they were one happy family. They all were definitely happy, that was for sure. Kevin refused to move because he didn't want Laura to move from where she was. He would stay right where he was until she moved.

Laura could not remember the last time where she felt completely relaxed and content, no other thoughts about work or patients, what was happening in the world around her. Right now it was this moment, actually this whole day, the beautiful day, wonderful company, her 2 favorite dogs and how everything came together for such a perfect day.

The 2 of them continued to sit close together, mostly in silence but every now and then they’d laugh as they chatted about something that the dogs were doing. The comfortable silence told Laura how comfortable and relaxed Kevin was around her, she knew he enjoyed her company as much as she did his. She could definitely see them in a relationship and she was pretty sure Kevin did also, the thought of her being pulled into his lap made her smile and imagining how wonderful it would feel.

Laura sighed contentedly as Kevin began caressing her hand as they sat quietly, this whole weekend had been perfect and they still had almost a full day ahead of them. She felt as if she could stay right here next to Kevin all day, she had no plans on moving for as long as possible and she could feel Kevin was just as relaxed as she was.

Before they knew it, the sun was beginning to set. They had spent the entire afternoon together and it was perfect. He turned his head to Laura and kissed the top of her head. "Is it wrong that I don't want to move from here?" He kissed the top of her head again and squeezed her hand.

"We should probably think about doing something for dinner? All we have had today are some baked goods; not exactly the most nutritious of foods. Of course, maybe I am going to far by assuming that you would like to have dinner with me." He maintained a straight face; wondering how Laura would respond to it. He felt like he knew what she would say, but didn't want her to think that he was assuming anything.

He waited for a minute. "Oh, and if you decide that we are going to have dinner together, you have to decide what we are having. It can be take-out, it can be go out, it can be make it ourselves, but the pretty lady is the one that is going to decide what it is. So, tell me Laura, first, are we going to have dinner together? Second, what will it be?"

Kevin wondered if he was putting too much on Laura. He was making her make all the decisions for dinner. Would she not like that?

Laura looked out at the sky in front of them, the sky had started to turn different hues of oranges, purples and pinks making for a beautiful sunset. She sighed contentedly when Kevin kissed the top of her head and squeezed her hand, today had been the most perfect day….perfect weekend she’d had in a very long time and she hoped it would continue.

"Is it wrong that I don't want to move from here?"
Laura looked at him with her beautiful hazel eyes with gray and yellow flecks and smiled at him. He never ceased to make her smile, before she had met Kevin it wasn’t often she smiled, between her job (at times) and what her ex had put her through she had just felt defeated. “Wrong, absolutely not, because I don’t want to move from here either. To me this is just a little piece of paradise right here.”

“You know what, you’re right. Definitely not nutritious but they were absolutely delicious, you spoiled me with picking everything in the shop. I’d love to have dinner with you.” She could see he was happy when she agreed to stay and have dinner with him, and seeing him happy made her smile even more. “Do you like Chinese? There’s a really good place in town that I just ordered from last week, we can order and just eat here.”

"Yes, I enjoy Chinese food. I think we should do exactly what you said, order it and eat here." Kevin asked Laura the name of the Chinese restaurant, and he looked it up on his phone. After asking Laura what she wanted, he called in the order and asked to have the order delivered. He gave instructions to have the delivery person come to the gate to the back yard and to knock but do not open the gate. Kevin knew that Thor would not be happy with an unfamiliar person entering the yard.

They chatted quietly for a little while. About 40 minutes later, Thor sat up and looked toward the house. His ears were up. he was on alert. Then, Kevin heard a car door close. "Thor, stay." Kevin got up. Thor still sat at attention. Kevin kept an eye on Thor as he walked toward the gate. Thor watched Kevin intently. He had always been very protective of Kevin and anyone around Kevin. That certainly had not changed.

Kevin met the delivery person outside the gate. Once Kevin left the yard, Thor started barking. After getting the food and giving the driver a tip, Kevin reentered the back yard. Thor was still sitting where he had been sitting. Thor relaxed when he saw Kevin again, and laid back down next to Peaches. Kevin placed the food on the table. "I will get some plates and silverware. What would you like to drink Laura?"

After getting Laura's answer, Kevin went inside to gather up the needed items. He sat them on the counter and filled the water bowl for the dogs, which he carried outside with the other items; a careful balancing act to keep from dropping anything or spilling the water. "I am not sure what type of food you give to Peaches, but you are welcome to some of Thor's if you want to feed her." Kevin put the water bowl down and the other items on the table before sitting down with Laura.

“Great minds think alike.” Laura smiled when Kevin agreed with her dinner idea, she gave Kevin her order and the name of the restaurant which was Jade Gardens. She heard Kevin instructing the restaurant to have the delivery person come around back but not to open the gate, Laura would make sure she was standing near Thor just in case.

They sat back down and chatted quietly until the food came and they heard a car pull up and a door close. Kevin stood and watched Thor’s location as he walked towards the gate. When Thor sensed there was someone approaching the gate, she moved beside him and spoke to him in a relaxing, soothing tone. His eyes were focused on Kevin but he started to relax when he realized Kevin was relaxed, along with Laura’s soothing voice, he laid down next to her.

Thor had let out a bark when Kevin stepped outside the gate, but he remained calm. Even when Kevin stepped back into the yard and walked back towards him, he was blown away at how calm Thor had remained. “This smells amazing! I hope you’re hungry, their portions are huge. Can I help you with anything?” Just some ice water will be fine, thank you.”

When Kevin stepped inside to get the drinks, she finished putting everything in its place and started pulling everything out of the bag, as always they gave them some extras. She took the water bowl from Kevin as his hands were beyond full. “Here let me take that for you and give you an extra hand.” She placed the water bowl in a corner on the deck. “Thank you Kevin, I think Peaches would love that.” She helped Kevin with the dogs and they both sat down to enjoy their dinner.
