"Well, I am happy that you are willing to work with Thor. I think that he trusts you, and I know that I do. Thor is a great dog and I am confident that you will be able to get him back to the way he was before she damaged him. I wish I knew what it was that she did to him, but that is in the past. It is time for me and for Thor to move forward."

Kevin sipped his coffee and watched as Dr. Riley began to work with Thor. Every once in a while Thor would look in his direction. It was almost like Thor was just checking to see if Kevin was still there. That made Kevin sad. He wondered if Thor felt like he had been abandoned by Kevin when he was sent to live with the ex. Now, Thor kept checking to make sure Kevin was still with him. Kevin whispered quietly, "Sorry buddy," hoping that Dr. Riley didn't hear.

Thor followed what Dr. Riley was doing. Other than checking on Kevin once in a while, Thor paid close attention to Dr. Riley and accepted what she wanted of him. He was such a good dog, and she was so good with him. Kevin had wondered if Thor would be reluctant to work with a woman after his bad experience with the ex, but Thor was just fine with Dr. Riley, which led Kevin to believe that they were all going to be spending a lot of time together.

“With patience, TLC and some hard work I truly believe Thor will overcome the anxiety and fear he’s been feeling from whatever he’s been thru with your ex. I see great potential in Thor and believe he will be back to the dog you once knew, he’s still in there. Thank you for agreeing to let me help him, I’ve no doubt we will get your boy back to the way he used to be.” You may never find out what she did to him, all you can do now is move forward and be there by his side, and what I’ve seen so far, he’s in great hands.”

Laura smiled warmly at Kevin as she assured him she’d get his “old”Thor back to him. She could see worry and sadness behind his eyes, she couldn’t blame him for that, it was obvious Thor had been through some type of trauma which was not uncommon in messy divorces. She bent down and began rubbing behind Thor’s ears and he about fell asleep and gave him a treat. Laura had him do a few things with Peaches in the side yard without any problems.

Thor kept looking out for Kevin to make sure he was there, that made her think there was also some separation anxiety he was feeling along with everything else. After about an hour of working with him, she let Kevin know of her concerns. “Okay boy, I’m going to free you early and let you go spend some quality time with your dad.” Kevin I think it’s a wonderful idea that you work at home and able to spend a lot of time with Thor, it will surely help with his anxiety. Just a suggestion….if you’d ever like some company on walks, Peaches and I would be happy to join you and he could start getting used to being around other dogs, even if it’s just Peaches to start with.”

Kevin sat quietly watching as Dr. Riley worked with Thor. She had a certain way about her. Kevin noticed it, and he was pretty sure that Thor did, too. She countered any anxiety demonstrated by Thor with a calm patience that told Thor, and Kevin, that everything was going to be alright. Kevin knew it was something that couldn't be rushed, and he had no problem giving Dr. Riley all the time she needed.

He smiled to himself as he thought about giving Dr. Riley all the time she needed. He looked at Dr. Riley and wondered if the fact that the vet was beautiful and sexy had anything to do with why he was willing to be so patient. "You don't mind coming here because Dr. Riley is smoking hot," he thought to himself. The way she looked in the fitted t-shirt and the yoga pants was amazing. The fitted tee showed off her curves, and the yoga pants, well, let's just say that the yoga pants made her fine ass a target for his eyes.

Kevin had to quickly snap out of the trance when Dr. Riley approached him with Thor. He listened to the doctor tell him that spending time with Thor would really help. "Well, it is just him and me, so, we spend all of our time together. Even when I am working, he is with me. He also sleeps in the bed with me... always has his back pressed against me as he takes over most of the bed." Kevin laughed a little.

"I would welcome the company on walks Dr. Riley. I think it would be great. Thor does seem to like Peaches, and I think it would be good for you to see the way he acts when he encounters other dogs and other people. Also, if you are going out for a walk, I wouldn't mind it if you wanted some company."

Laura had a passion for all her patients, she enjoyed what she did and loved helping and healing, although some days were incredibly harder than others, she never showed it in the office. There was something special about Thor, all that he had going on and had been through he seemed to trust her and feel at ease with her. The 4 of them would be spending quite a bit of time together in the next few months, not that she minded. Kevin was quite easy on the eyes, but that was not what attracted her to him, his good looks were a bonus. She couldn’t quite describe what attracted her to him, but it was strong.

“Same time next Saturday? Bye Thor, I’ll see you soon, good boy!” Laura smiled at Kevin as they stood and chatted for a few minutes. She was glad that he accepted her offer of joining her and Peaches for their daily walks and he returned the same offer to her. “Peaches and I would love to have you and Thor join us.” After Kevin left, Laura set the alarm and locked up and walked the 2 blocks home, they had to pass by Kevin’s house with them being right across the street, she glanced over before heading inside.

A few minutes later she heard a dog barking nearby, looking out her front window she saw that Kevin and Thor were in the front yard. He was so good with him. Seeing Thor this way gave her hope that he would improve and he’d be back to himself in no time, it gave her a feeling that everything was going to be okay.

After leaving the Veterinary Office, Kevin decided to take a long route home and spend some more time outside with Thor. He figured that he would avoid the park, though. There was no reason for him to undo any of what Dr. Riley had accomplished on her first session with Thor. He walked through several neighborhoods he was not familiar with. Kevin figured that he would learn more about the small town while also spending time with Thor.

When they finally made their way back home, Thor did not seem ready to go back into the house. He started barking at Kevin; acting like he wanted to play. "We can play ball in the back yard pal; not out here. Come on, let's go out back and we can play."

Thor did not seem like he wanted to go out back. He sat down and continued to bark at Kevin. Reaching down to pet Thor, Kevin rubbed between the dog's eyes. Thor was acting strange. It was like he was trying to tell Kevin something. Kevin looked around and saw nothing. There were no other dogs around. There were no other people. Squatting down in front of Thor, Kevin took the dog's face in his hands and kissed between his eyes. "What is it Thor? What are you trying to tell me? We were always able to communicate so well before."

Thor turned his head and looked out at the street. He seemed to be looking toward Dr. Riley's house. "Do you want to spend more time with Dr. Riley Thor? Or is it Peaches you want to see? Maybe both? I don't blame you for wanting to see Dr. Riley. She is pretty hot, isn't she. You are going to be spending a lot of time with her, don't worry.. and with peaches, too."

It seemed like Thor got the message, because when Kevin stood up, Thor walked up onto the porch with him. He followed Kevin into the house, and sat by the kitchen counter where Kevin kept the dog treats. "Oh, I see how it is. The doctor gives you treats, so, you want more from me." Kevin reached into the cookie jar where he kept Thor's treats. Thor automatically gave Kevin his large paw, and then received his treat.

Laura got some paperwork done while Peaches napped in her favorite spot in the living room, that’s the last thing she wanted to do on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, she decided that her and Peaches would go out in the yard and play when she woke from her nap. Her thoughts drifted back to Kevin…those eyes and smile…damn. She shook her head and came out of her trance, “Knock it off, Laura he’s your client, nothing more. Besides he probably doesn’t even think of you.”

After awhile Peaches woke from her nap and they went out in the yard, Laura grabbed Peaches favorite toys. Something seemed off as she didn’t seem to want to play, she ran around in circles and began barking, “What is it girl, what’s wrong?” Peaches ran towards the gate and appeared to be looking over at Kevin’s house, “Oh, okay is it Thor you want to play with? I don’t blame you. Don’t worry sweet girl, we will be spending lots of time with them.” Laura bent down and kissed Peaches on top of the head.

They spent most of the afternoon running around the backyard playing with Peaches favorite ball and frisbee, she loved spending her time with Peaches. Gathering her leash and harness up, it was time for their afternoon walk, as soon as they got out the gate Peaches nearly dragged Laura over to Kevin’s house. “Peaches no, we can’t always bother these nice people!” Before she knew it Kevin was peeking out the door and started laughing, unknown to her Thor was also making a commotion.

Kevin decided to check his email despite the fact that it was Saturday. He never really had a day off, but he knew there was nothing too pressing. If there was, he would have received a phone call. After checking his email, and finding nothing worth spending time on a Saturday on, Kevin walked around the house to take inventory of things he wanted to do to his new house. He had some things rolling through his head, but now decided to put the list on paper.

As he was moving through the living room, Thor started barking. When Kevin looked at him, Thor went to the front door and sat down. "We were out all morning pal, you don't need to go out now. We will go for another walk, later." Thor started barking again; now, turning his body to face the front door. "Is somebody there Thor? Kevin went to the front door and opened it. There was nobody there, but Dr. Riley and Peaches were across the street.

"Come on now. You can't be serious. You were barking because the doctor and her dog are out there? Thor stood up, his big tail swinging in a wide arc. "So, you want to go for a walk with them, is that it?" Thor barked at Kevin. It was as if he understood the question and was giving an answer, and that answer was a definite, "yes."

He reached for Thor's leash which was next to the front door and then Kevin called across the street to Dr. Riley, "Care for some company on your walk?" He saw the doctor wave and heard her say, "yes." Putting the leash on Thor, Kevin walked across the street and met up with Dr. Riley. "Thor knew you were out here and was making a scene. When I opened the door I saw you and Peaches and Thor basically told me he wanted to join you. So, where are we going Doc?"

Laura was somewhat embarrassed about all the commotion that Peaches was causing, she could appreciate that Peaches wanted to have Thor join them on their walk but she was sure Kevin had more important things to do then spend all day with them. Of course she didn’t really mind the company, Laura didn’t really have too many friends left in town. While she was away at vet school and then working at the clinic in the city, they all got married and started families and eventually moved away, so having Kevin to talk to was nice.

Peaches and Thor walked side by side in front of her and Kevin, Thor seem relaxed and at peace on their walk. “I know of this lovely little out of the way park, not too many people go there, it’s quite peaceful and quiet.” Kevin told her to lead the way and they talked quietly along the way, within a few minutes they arrived and sure enough there was nobody else around. The dogs laid at their feet and just relaxed in the warm sun as Laura and Kevin got to know each other.

“Sorry about all the noise Peaches was making, she’s very social and she seems to enjoy Thor’s company, it’s not often she’s around other dogs due to being at work with me most of the time.” For a moment she got lost in his mesmerizing eyes, and found it difficult to pull her eyes away, Kevin probably had beautiful women staring at him every time he went out. As attracted as she was to him she kept herself guarded, as he was still newly divorced from what sounded like a difficult woman and she was recovering from an abusive relationship.

They walked and talked as the dogs led out in front of them. The two dogs stayed side by side. It was like they had been walking together forever. "It almost looks like Peaches and Thor are out on a date, doesn't it? I guess that would make us the chaperones. I need to make sure that Peaches doesn't try to take advantage of Thor." He laughed as he looked down at Dr. Riley.

While sitting in the small park with the dogs at their feet, Dr. Riley and Kevin talked quietly. There was something about her that Kevin was attracted to, and it was way more than the fact that she was smart, beautiful and hot as hell. She could actually hold an intelligent conversation. That was something that had been lacking in his marriage; there was no engaging conversation that ever took place.

He loved hearing how Dr. Riley had decided to go for it and open up her own practice. She was a risk taker, and he really liked that. Someone that was not happy with the status quo, and was willing to do something about that was someone to be respected and admired. Putting that on top of what she had done to become a vet just made the sexy woman sitting with him even more attractive.

While they talked, Kevin shared what had gone wrong with his marriage; she loved money, well at least she loved spending it, they never talked, she loved going out with her rich friends, and was constantly complaining that he never talk her on European vacations. "I guess that the trips to the Italy, Germany, and France didn't count in her little mind. In order not to have to deal with her ever again, I agreed to a large cash settlement, and she kept the proceeds from the sale of the house as long as she agreed to receiving no alimony. Out of spite, she fought for, and won, Thor. Thankfully, he is back where he belongs."

Kevin could not believe that he shared all of that with Dr. Riley. After all, he didn't know her that well.. although he wouldn't mind knowing her a lot better. She was a neighbor and his vet. It wasn't like they were dating or anything, but there was just something about her that made it easy to open up to her. "I am sorry Dr. Riley, that was way too much information."

"It almost looks like Peaches and Thor are out on a date, doesn't it? I guess that would make us the chaperones. I need to make sure that Peaches doesn't try to take advantage of Thor."

“Yes…yes it does. They seem quite fond of each other. Yes I guess that would make us their chaperones.” When Kevin burst into laughter she couldn’t help but join him, he had a contagious laughter you couldn’t help but laugh with him. “My Peaches take advantage of Thor? She’s a good girl.” Laura gave Kevin a beaming smile as they continue their way to the park, sitting on a bench as the dogs laid at their feet and dozed.

They each took turns in revealing glimpses into their lives, Kevin’s ex wife selfishly spending his money and treating him badly and then taking HIS Thor and causing some trauma and damage to him now causing him to act out and not his usual self. “You didn’t deserve that, neither did Thor, if there’s anything I can’t tolerate it’s selfish people…the bad ones anyway. You can be selfish in good ways. Here I am, I’ve never even been to Europe, I hope to someday though.”

Laura looked deep into Kevin’s eyes, saying quietly,”No, Kevin it’s not too much, it tells me you feel comfortable with me, find me easy to talk to and maybe trust me to share that. I’ve never been married but I my partner of many years was emotionally abusive to both Peaches and I, he stole from me. Actually Peaches saved my life, she got me through a very emotional time in my life.” Kevin’s eyes were on hers as she now told her story, listening to every word. Looking at him, feeling a little insecure, “Wow, aren’t we a pair.” She looked away for a moment, “ Sorry about that… I figured since we were sharing.”

Sitting there, listening to Dr. Riley share the story of her relationship and how she had been mistreated, Kevin was surprised that she had divulged so much information. Of course, he shouldn't have been surprised after everything that he had shared with her. "I am sorry to hear that you and Peaches were mistreated Dr. Riley. Nobody deserves that..." He almost said "especially someone so attractive and smart" but he held back. He didn't want it to sound like he was flirting with her.

“Wow, aren’t we a pair.” ..... “ Sorry about that… I figured since we were sharing.”

Kevin chuckled a little. "Well, I guess we sure are something, and there is no reason for you to apologize Doctor Riley. I had already shared my horror story, it was only fair that I let you share yours." He smiled at her as he looked into her eyes. She was a strong woman who had come out of an abusive relationship on top, but he had a feeling there was a part of this woman, deep inside that was still hurting. She deserved to have someone who was good to her. Kevin stopped there. he almost said to himself that he could be the one to be good to Dr. Riley, but he didn't, because he didn't know whether that was something the attractive vet even wanted, and if that was the case, why even think it?

Suddenly, Thor sat up. His ears shot up and he was definitely in protection mode. Kevin was concerned that this was Thor's anxiety coming out, but then Kevin saw it.... a dog, untethered. No, not untethered, but someone had dropped the leash. It was a pitbull. Thor was now standing and inching in the direction of the other dog. "Easy buddy. I know what you are doing. Just relax." The pittie stopped and stood there looking in Thor's direction. Then, a man came running up and grabbed the dog's leash. He apologized profusely and led the dog away. Thor relaxed and, after the pitbull was out of sight, laid back down next to Peaches. "Now, he wasn't too bad there. That is what the old Thor would have done. Look, you are already having a positive impact on our lives."

“Thank you, it was a rough time but I didn’t let it kill my spirit and didn’t dwell on it.” Laura didn’t want Kevin to sense the hurt she still had, all in all she was a strong woman, but the invisible scars were still there in her mind. She kept herself guarded somewhat, but she knew that someday she’d meet someone who’d treat her the way she deserved to be treated but until then the guard would be up.

She chuckled with him when he agreed they were something. Laura once again got lost in his eyes, he had the most amazing eyes she’d ever seen. Kind, yet intense and full of emotion. From what she’d known about him so far, he deserved a good woman. One who would not be selfish and just cared about wealth and materialism, a woman who would have deep conversations with and ask him about his day and be there for him. A thought crossed her mind that she knew she would be the type to be exactly that kind of woman, but she didn’t know him enough to think he would want that.

Without warning, Thor’s mood changed. She saw in the distance that a large pit bull was coming right towards them, the owner had dropped the leash and Thor had his eyes focused right on him. The owner managed to grab the leash and lead the dog away without getting too close. Laura’s eyes did not leave Thor, wanting to see what his next move would be, she was overjoyed when Thor laid back at Kevin’s feet and relaxed. “That was AMAZING! Huge step for Thor, Kevin.” She bent down and pet him and gave him praise. “This makes me so happy.” She smiled at Kevin as they sat there and praised Thor for his big step.

Kevin was really proud of the way Thor had handled the situation with the pit bull dog. He had not freaked out. He did not get aggressive. He did not show the anxiety that has been an issue lately. What Thor did was stand up and exert some dominance over the situation. He stood up as a protector. He put himself in between the dog that was perceived as a threat, and Peaches, Dr. Riley and Kevin. That was the Thor that Kevin knew from before.

"Wow, Dr. Riley, you are a miracle worker. One session and Thor is already back to acting like his old self... at least in this situation he did. He put himself between the pit bull and us. He was Thor the way Thor used to be." He smiled at Dr. Riley. The smile on her face made her look even more beautiful. He took a deep breath. He found himself very attracted to her, but had no idea whether she felt anything similar. Right now she was probably just thinking of herself as his veterinarian and his neighbor.

He continued to look into her eyes. They were mesmerizing. "Dr. Riley, I have to ask you a question." He paused for a minute trying to make sure the question came out right. "Would you and Peaches join Thor and me for dinner this evening? I just want to thank you for the work you have done with Thor. You are already making great progress with getting him back to the way he was." He didn't share that he wanted to spend more time with his beautiful and sexy neighbor/ vet. "I will just put some steaks and potatoes on the grill and we can sit out on the back patio and relax. I also understand if you aren't able to join us."

“Today was a big step for Thor and he did so well. He was protecting what’s important to him without showing any fear or anxiety, he showed the the other dog that this is his space. I hope you have lots of treats for this good boy, because he deserves them.” The two of them couldn’t get over how well he did without even having to leave the park. “I told you he was in there somewhere, I see wonderful progress ahead of him Kevin.

“A miracle worker you say? That’s incredibly kind of you, but honestly it’s a team effort. Thor is a smart boy, it comes along with the breed, he’s also determined. That along with my help, I’ve no doubt the old Thor will be back in no time.” When Kevin smiled at her, she felt something she hadn’t in a long time, comfortable, relaxed and perhaps some butterflies. Laura found Kevin to be incredibly attractive and when he smiled, oh it went straight to his eyes, she wondered if he could be attracted to her. With what he’s been through with his ex and with her being guarded, he probably wasn’t looking.

Her eyes focused on his face as he struggled a bit asking her something, she listened until he finished talking. “You know what, we would love to join you and Thor for dinner, Peaches and I don’t really get out much since being back in town…so yes, we accept your kind invitation.” Laura had to suppress her excitement a bit but she was failing miserably, she was sure he could see how happy she was at the dinner invitation.

Kevin was happy that Dr. Riley had agreed to have Peaches and her join Thor and him for dinner. He could tell that Dr. Riley was excited about the invitation just by the look on her face. "That is great, I am looking forward to you joining us this evening. It will be a nice relaxing evening... nothing fancy. I hope that is okay with you. I don't usually do fancy at home. If I want fancy, I go out for it."

They sat for a little while longer in the park. There were not many people in this park, which was good for Thor in his current condition. There were a couple of times where Thor's big ears popped up when people walked past, but nothing that rose to the level of being concerning; not to Kevin at least. Eventually, they decided to head home. Walking together, it was a relaxing stroll that avoided any conflicts... a good thing for Thor. They said their goodbyes at the street before heading to their individual houses. "How about 6; will that work for you?"

Once home, Kevin looked around to see what he needed at the store. he had offered to make dinner, but wasn't sure he had what he needed to do so. Leaving Thor behind, Kevin went to the little grocery store in town. He picked up two petite filets, some large potatoes and the makings for a salad. After loading the groceries into his car, he went to the liquor store and bought two nice bottles of wine.. one red and one white. He wasn't sure what, if anything, Dr. Riley drank.

Once home, he did some initial prep before jumping in the shower. After showering, he put on a pair of khaki shorts and a light blue dress shirt before heading down to make sure everything was ready for his guests. He had plenty of treats for the dogs, so that wouldn't be a problem. He just hoped that he didn't mess anything up with the dinner. With everything ready to be cooked, Kevin opened a bottle of water, and leaned against the kitchen counter to wait for the arrival of Peaches and Dr. Riley .

"I am looking forward to it also. Seems we are alike in that, I always do casual at home and whenever I used to go out, I'd do dressy, but it has been quite awhile since I have been out on the town to dress up. sounds like a wonderful, relaxing evening, sometimes they are better than going out somewhere." They sat in the park and talked for a little while longer before starting the short walk home. "You know...I really love that park because it is almost always empty and it is peaceful. I think it would be perfect to start Thor there until you feel comfortable with a little more." Laura never went empty to someone's house and it just so happens that she had baked a sugar free apple pie yesterday and she would bring it for dessert.

When they arrived at their houses, Kevin suggested 6:00 and she happily agreed. Laura took Peaches inside and went up and showered, she picked out a mauve colored tank top, khaki shorts and sandals, after dressing she put her hair in a French braid and went downstairs. It was still early so she pulled the pie from the fridge and covered it with plastic wrap and placed it in a reusable tote to take to Kevin's, she didn't want to be too early so she waited until 5:50 to pack up Peaches and head to Kevin's house. "Hmmm, maybe I should've brought wine, what if he doesn't eat pie. Stop overthinking, Laura it is the thought that counts. Come on girl, we are going to spend time with Thor and Kevin." Peaches did a little dance and barked as if she understood her. They crossed the street and headed up on Kevin's porch and knocked on the door.

She smiled when he opened up the door and greeted her with a smile, Thor came up behind him and was happy to see her and Peaches. "I hope you like apple pie, I baked it last night. It is sugar free because the sweetness of the apples and the cinnamon gives it the perfect amount of sweetness. I never go to someone's home empty handed, something I was taught at an early age." Laura glimpsed around Kevin's home, it was immaculate and nicely decorated. "What a beautiful home you have."

When he heard the knock at the door, Kevin looked at the clock. He had lost track of time, and didn't realize it was so close to 6 o'clock. Fortunately, everything was set; it would just be a matter of putting the steaks and potatoes on the grill. He went to the door and opened it. He couldn't help but smile at the wonderful vision in front of him. Dr. Riley looked amazing.

Kevin invited the Doctor and Peaches into the house and listened as she mentioned the pie and that she had learned early on that you never go to someone's house emptyhanded. He took the pie from her and placed it on the kitchen counter. "Thank you very much. The pie looks delicious, and I am certain that it is plenty sweet enough."

"I haven't put the food on the grill yet, I thought we could sit outside and enjoy the beautiful evening while the food was cooking. Would you like a glass of wine? I have a white and a red. Also, if you didn't want alcohol, I have iced tea and water." He smiled at Dr. Riley and then looked over at Peaches and Thor who were both lying on the floor quietly after saying their hellos to each other.

Laura felt like she was going to melt every time Kevin smiled at her, it went straight to his eyes, that’s how you can tell if a smile is genuine and his was definitely genuine. He took the pie from her and placed it on the counter, letting her know the he was sure the pie was sweet enough. “I add a special ingredient to give it a little something special to it.” Peaches had already laid down next to Thor as Laura and Kevin talked quietly, “Look at those two, it’s like they’ve known each other since puppyhood.”

"Thank you very much. The pie looks delicious, and I am certain that it is plenty sweet enough."

Oh, you’re very welcome. I was going to bring wine but I wasn’t sure you drank it.” Kevin chuckled when she mentioned the wine and held up 2 bottles, a bottle of white and a bottle of red. “I’d love a glass of red please.” She watched as he pulled out 2 wine glasses and poured them each a glass of red, he moved well like he enjoyed being in the kitchen, which she found an attractive trait about a man. He handed her a glass and made a toast, after clinking their glasses, she took a sip. “This is delicious, you picked a winner.” She smiled and looked around his beautiful home.

“That sounds wonderful, I’d love to sit outside until dinner is ready, it sure is a beautiful evening.” Kevin led the way to his deck, looking out over a spacious yard. “Oh Kevin, if this were my yard I’d spend all day out here, I mean I have a nice yard too but it’s absolutely peaceful out here.” Eventually the dogs made their way outside and played in the yard while Kevin prepared the steaks and potatoes. “Can I help with anything?”

"I don't drink a lot, but I do enjoy a glass of wine with good company, and Peaches and you are definitely good company." He clinked his glass against Dr. Riley's and then took a sip. "I am glad you like it Dr. Riley." He then showed her the way to the back door and followed her out onto the patio; once again taking a moment to get a good look at her perfect peach.

“Oh Kevin, if this were my yard I’d spend all day out here, I mean I have a nice yard too but it’s absolutely peaceful out here.”

"Yes, I like it out here. I haven't had too much time to enjoy it, yet, because I have spent so much time getting things straightened out on the inside of the house, but I plan on spending a lot of time out here. The sunsets are really awesome since my backyard faces to the west. Hopefully, it will be a nice one this evening." He looked at Dr. Riley who was looking out over his backyard. He couldn't help but once again think about how beautiful and sexy she was. There was even a momentary vision of her in his bed, but he quickly shook his head a little to get the thought out of his head... she is a neighbor and his dog's vet... stop thinking of her like that.

"No, Dr. Riley, everything is ready, I just need to put them on the grill. We can eat whenever you are ready. So, just sit down and relax... enjoy the wine and we will eat whenever my guest is ready." Kevin gestured toward the table, which was set with two place settings and the large padded chairs. After Dr. Riley took a seat, Kevin sat next to her and took a sip of his wine. "What a great view," he thought to himself as he looked at Dr. Riley and out into his back yard.

“I don’t drink a lot either, a glass of wine every now and then but that’s about it.” Well thank you, you and Thor are also very good company, and yes I love the wine, you picked a good one.” Kevin showed her out to the deck and somehow ending up following her, she was sure he was checking out her ass… she decided to be a smartass and put a little extra swing in her hips. Her eyes took in the beauty of his yard and thought to herself what a beautiful spot it was.” Is that a hammock I see over there? I bet it’s spectacular to look at the sunsets and to spend a sunny day in.”

"Yes, I like it out here. I haven't had too much time to enjoy it, yet, because I have spent so much time getting things straightened out on the inside of the house, but I plan on spending a lot of time out here. The sunsets are really awesome since my backyard faces to the west. Hopefully, it will be a nice one this evening."

“I can see why. You definitely need to start to take advantage, especially if the sunset is spectacular as you say. I’m kinda jealous as my yard faces the opposite way. I’ve no doubt it will be a beautiful sunset.” Laura continued to take in the beautiful surroundings of Kevin’s backyard. She could feel him staring at her, his eyes almost burning into her, what she was unsure about was if it was a sexual way or he was intrigued by her. Kevin’s good looks definitely grabbed her attention but their was so much more to him that also got her attention.

“Well I must say I’m impressed…I admire a man who cooks and has his lady…guest relax while he puts everything together.” He showed her to a chair and held out her chair and pushed her in, she sat back in the padded chair and smiled at him. He took a seat next to her and took a sip of his wine and smiled at her, that wonderful smile that lit up his whole face.

“I can see why. You definitely need to start to take advantage, especially if the sunset is spectacular as you say. I’m kinda jealous as my yard faces the opposite way. I’ve no doubt it will be a beautiful sunset.”

"Well, if you face the opposite direction, you have a great view of the sunrise. Don't be surprise if you find me standing in your yard some morning watching the sun come up. I am often up before the sun because of work, so, a view of the sunrise would wonderful. Heck, I can start my day in your yard and you can finish the day in mine."

After they chatted for a little while, Kevin got up from the table and started the grill. He sat back down and talked with Dr. Riley some more. She was really easy to talk to and he was really enjoying her company, and it was more than just the fact that he thought she was extremely beautiful and sexy. She was smart and a great conversationalist and had a good sense of humor. Kevin decided to keep his sense of humor hidden for a little while. His delivery, when joking, tended to throw people off and they would think he was serious. He decided that he would have to get to know Dr. Riley better before doing that.

When the grill was up to temperature, Kevin went over and put two foil wrapped pouches on the top shelf. Returning to the table, he looked at Dr. Riley. "Sliced potatoes in one pouch and green beans with olive oil and almonds in the other. They will take a little longer than the steaks." After a few minutes, Kevin got back up and put the two filets on the grill. While they cooked, he stayed close to the grill; not wanting to overcook them. While he was at the grill, it felt like there was a burning sensation in his back. He wondered if Dr. Riley was staring at him as he cooked. He didn't turn around to check and see. He just finished cooking. Just before he took the filets off the grill, he removed the potatoes and green beans and dumped them into separate bowls. Then, once the filets were ready, he took them off the grill and put them on a plate.

Kevin took the food to the table and placed the two bowls and the plate on the table. "I'll be right back Dr. Riley." He went inside, opened the refrigerator and removed two salads. Returning outside with the salads and a balsamic dressing, Kevin placed them on the table. "I think that is everything. I hope you enjoy." He let Dr. Riley put whatever she wanted on her plate before he took the remaining filet and some potatoes and beans.

I am often up before the sun because of work, so, a view of the sunrise would wonderful. Heck, I can start my day in your yard and you can finish the day in mine."

“You’re absolutely right, I do have a great view of the sunrise. Oh, I’m up early to have my morning coffee before work, please join me anytime and I’d love to end the day watching the sunset in your yard.” She smiled at the wonderful thought of starting and ending her day with him to watch sunrises and sunsets.

They sat and talked for a bit about a variety of topics as the dogs lay on the deck, after a bit Kevin got up and started getting the food on the grill. When he told her what was on the menu, Laura smiled and told him, “That sounds absolutely delicious, it’s been awhile since I’ve had a good steak.” She felt very comfortable being around Kevin, not only was he incredibly attractive, he was kind, smart and very easy to talk with.

Kevin excused himself and got up to put the food on the grill, every now and then, her eyes wandered over him. She could tell he kept himself in great shape, she could tell by his legs he was a runner. He was about to turn around and Laura quickly averted her eyes, she’d be incredibly embarrassed if he caught her staring. Thinking to herself, “Stop it, he is your client and his dog is your patient! Besides, he probably doesn’t think of you in an attracted way.”

Kevin finally brought the food to the table and let her load her plate first, she picked a filet and put some potatoes and green beans on her plate. “Kevin this looks and smells amazing.” She waited to start eating until he had his plate loaded and took a bite of the steak, it was so tender it nearly melted in her mouth. “This is perfect, absolutely delicious, you can grill a steak for me anytime.”

“You’re absolutely right, I do have a great view of the sunrise. Oh, I’m up early to have my morning coffee before work, please join me anytime and I’d love to end the day watching the sunset in your yard.”

"Be careful. You might wake up to find me standing in your back yard every morning. I enjoy sunrises. To me it signals the start of a day, which holds a lot of promise and can be as good as I want it to be. Sunsets are beautiful to reflect on just how well you took advantage of the many opportunities that were provided to you. Although I did not see the sunrise this morning, tonight's sunset will allow me to reflect on the great day I had spending it with my wonderful neighbor."

Kevin watched as Dr. Riley cut the filet and put a piece in her mouth. He was happy that she liked it. He took pride in his ability to grill and was glad that his hot neighbor approved of what he had done. He cut a piece of his filet and put it in his mouth. The doctor was right, it was delicious. As they ate, he watched the doctor closely. He was very attracted to her and was even tempted to ask her out, but he wondered if it was too soon; she had just started working with Thor and he didn't want to mess anything up.

"Well, you know where I live, and anytime you want me to grill a steak or anything else, you are welcome to come over... no invitation is necessary... just come on over. I would be happy to grill for you and spend some time with you. You are enjoyable to be with Dr. Riley."

Laura smiled at the thought of finding Kevin in her yard every morning to watch the sunrise. “That’s a beautiful way to describe both and I couldn’t agree more. Well consider it an open invitation to come and watch the sunrise anytime you want, I’ll supply the coffee. I’m happy to join you reflecting on the great day I had spending with my amazing neighbor also.”

“This is probably the best steak I’ve ever had in my life, I give it 10 stars all around.” They talked quietly as they ate, every now and then the dogs would come sniffing around to see if any food was dropped but for the most part they played or laid on the deck. She could get used to Kevin’s grilling, she’d never had a man cook or even grill for her.” You know, I must confess….I’ve never had a man cook for me before and this is absolutely wonderful.”

She could feel Kevin glance at her every now and then but not in a sexual way, almost like he wanted to ask her something but held back for some reason. Laura felt comfortable and relaxed around Kevin, something she hadn’t felt in a long time, she also found him to be incredibly attractive but she was too afraid to say anything in fear of messing anything up. Part of her had hope he felt the same way and perhaps ask her out, but she quickly pushed it out of her mind thinking it was farthest from his mind.

“That’s very kind of you Kevin, I’d love to join you for dinner again sometime and consider it the same for you, open invitation to my place also. I’d love to have you and Thor over for dinner sometime, I make a mean lasagna. Of course I have the good treats for Thor also as you know. The feeling is mutual Kevin, you’re quite enjoyable to be with as well.”

"Well, I know you have treats for Thor, and I am pretty sure that he knows it, too. That big tail of his starts swinging wildly when he sees you. He knows that you have been good to him and he wants you to keep being good to him by giving him more treats. You already have him spoiled and you have only spent one session with him. By the time you are finished working with him, he will be spoiled rotten."

When they had finished eating, Kevin got up and started to clear the dishes from the table. He saw Dr. Riley start to get up. "Please, no... stay right where you are." He poured more wine into her glass. "Sit and relax. I will take care of this and be right back out." He saw the smile on her face as he picked up the last of the plates. Her smile was big and bright and he was certain that it would light up a room.

Kevin took the dishes inside and quickly rinsed them before putting them in the dishwasher. He grabbed another bottle of wine and took it outside with him. He carried the corkscrew out too. He didn't open the bottle yet, he just wanted to be prepared in case Dr. Riley decided to stay a while and watch the sunset, and possibly even stay longer. He didn't know what he was expecting. He would love to get to know her real well. She was enjoyable to be with, and she was so easy on the eyes. As he approached the table, Kevin thought about how great it would be to spend a lot of time with her, and he wondered if it was possible they could be more than just friends.
