This is going to sound like a strange idea for a thread considering my record for whining about every little thing, but when you have so many peeves, it's sometimes wonderful to find that one special thing that makes your day. That's what this thread is about.

Share some item, event, sight, sound, taste, ... anything that perks you up just when you thought the day was lost.

(How about we make it interesting by not referring to fucking, sucking, jerking off, or anything otherwise sexually related. We all know how nice sex is - there's no need to state the obvious.)

I'll start with shaving.

If I haven't shaved my beard for more than a day, the feeling of running a razor across my skin and getting that extra smooth skin underneath is just so satisfying. I feel like a new man with a freshly shaved face.

(I told you it's the little things.)

Grocery shopping in the middle of the night.

I shall post others as they come to me.

Most will be food-related.

I used to own a '66 Mustang that gave me all kinds of hell for most of the time I owned it.

The few times it made me happy were when I would turn the key and it would roar to life without even really cranking the engine. I mean, the ignition would click over to Start and that first cylinder would fire up and she'd rumble right up to idle speed. God, that felt good. She even seemed to know when someone else was watching, too, because she would always charm me when other drivers were around. I miss her.

Well, if I could start a list, I would love to.

The Stones
Aerosmith
ACDC
(the old stuff for all three)

Eh, I don't know. All the other stuff I can think of has to do with a prospective man...

1970 Dodge Charger would definitely perk my interests, though.

Ready salted crisps dipped in melted chocolate. I rarely have this, but when I do, it is heaven.

Feeling his cock against my ass as we fall asleep. Again it doesn't happen often, but when it does it is heaven.

The smell of a new book by one of my many favourite authors.

Christmas gift shopping. I love the looking, the planning, the noise, the crowds, the stupid music in shops, all of it.
The only bit I don't like is the queue for the ladies, which is always twice as long as normal

My two year old running out of the house to greet me after a long day at work.... :)

Matinee movies in an empty theatre on a rainy weekday afternoon.

Freshly washed sheets.

My 13 month old's smile, laugh & facial expressions. Priceless! :D

A little of what you fancy.

I was eating lunch outside on Wednesday, leaning against the building.
It had gently rained all morning, and the sun was trying to burst out of the clouds- the wind was whipping all around.
Then, in this one absolutely calm moment, the sun broke out from behind and shone on the grass stretching out in front of me.
Sparkly blades of green, glinting and glittering. Just winking at me in the sunlight.

It delighted my core, where I still think of Candyland (the old version) as the best game ever.

Candyland! Oh, where to begin? The inexplicable pleasingness of that card with the block of Neapolitan ice cream on it!? The joy of a little gingerbread dude to represent oneself?!

Bluebell's posts are one of those things that just make me happy.

Sweetness and...skin?

<sniff> Mo! :rose:

Seeing Daniel Craig wear those blue swim trunks in the new Bond movie makes me very happy.

Taking a nap when I am really tired.

Taking a shower after working in the yard.

My kids telling me they love me.

An ice cold Guiness Draught on a hotter than usual day.

A nice Cabernet with some soft cheese late at night.

These are a few of my favorite things..........

..........the sound of crows cawing and blue jays piping, "Thief, thief,"

..........the incredibly lovely contrast of a bright red cardinal against the greenery of spring,

..........the sight of a hawk soaring effortlessly through the cloudless, cerulean blue sky,

..........watching the foaming wake astern as the salt water collapses back upon itself after being parted by the hull, bubbling and gurgling with eddies and small whirlpools,

..........a nasty off-speed curveball that leaves a batter off-balance, flat-footed and utterly flummoxed,

.........mid-ocean swells, rising and falling as if the sea is a living, pulsing being,

.........the agile, torpedo-like leaps of porpoises and dolphins riding a bow wave. Are porpoises, dolphins, sharks, and cheetahs nature's most perfect creatures?

.........the Fourth Movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony- sublime perfection that never fails to send my spirits soaring!

My guinea pig popcorning.

Squirrels chasing each other.

Being at the top of the John Hancock building at night and looking out over Lake Michigan.

Watching home movies my grandpa took of me when I was a baby, right before he died. His voice is so calming.

Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

After being out of the house for a long day and having eaten at least one meal out I find Brushing my teeth to be very satisfying.
