i just rejoined the gym after 3 years away. i intend to go and workout but avoid the locker room altogether, which means i have to wear something that i can also be seen in public in. i'm not a shorts person and besides it will be cold soon. i have on a few occasions left the house in sweatpants, even though i usually only sleep in them, but i'm not a sweat pants type, either. the top isn't a problem because i can just wear a big t-shirt and put something over it afterward. but what am i going to wear for pants that will be roomy, stretchy, and that i can still wear in public without being laughed and pointed at? remember, 1) i'm old and 2) i'm currently shaped like a fireplug. any fashion hints?

classic adidas

nike tear away

I would go with the adidas stripes, always in style, or kick it old school with the tear away pants. Nothing says man sex like a good pair of tear away pants. Get a work out during and after the gym.

You have no idea about fashion v weather - haven't you seen the lines of mini's outside nightclubs when there's snow on the ground? Wuss. Looks are everything and you need to be pulling the ladies

If you're ashamed of your body, wear floppy grey everything and no one will even see you.

PS Gyms are not safe. Use the park. Bench press in your front room. I'm dying to get back to my friends in Pilates but I ain't dying for it. :(

Leggings, sweats or yoga pants. I wouldn't worry about how you look, everyone is wearing them these days just pretend they are tights. You can wear a dress, long shirt or sweater over them. In Minnesota this week, you could wear your lightest winter jacket over them with or without mittens.

I am not going back to my gym until this is over. Fauci says the riskiest places are bars, restaurants and gyms and it seems logical to me that they would be.
I'd like to go back to the pool, but same difference.

Here I thought this was going to be a question about color coordinating a mask, face shield and gloves to an outfit , lol!

Luckily

You're in public but ... who cares? If you look like you came from the gym or are going to the gym, you'll be just fine. Plenty of people show up at stores or wherever looking like they were out lifting and running earlier.

Fashion? That's for people who aren't comfortable with themselves. Wear something that works at the gym and either limit your public time before/after or accept it doesn't matter anyway as long as you aren't terribly sweaty and disgusting while looking at fruit at a supermarket.
