I did not mean to imply that teachers should have the right to spend class time yammering away on the phone while their class is unattended. Of course not.
Anyone who has ever taught knows what folly that thought is anyway. What group of children would supervise themselves long enough to allow the teacher to spend time on the phone?
What I was attempting to communicate was that people in many professions are allowed to have phones with them. They are able, if necessary, to access said phones for personal reasons.
But anyone in ANY field would be disciplined for using their phones to excess. Why the negative focus on teachers?
