A Dildo no-no or Strap-On silliness

Her termination, she claims, was discriminatory because a male co-worker who wore female clothing and prostheses and took hormone treatments was not fired nor disciplined.

They might be, because that's the way things go these days. :( However, I am assuming the "man" she refers to is a M to F transsexual, and he is minding his own business and doing nothing wrong. If the woman in question is NOT a TS, and she wore the dildo to scorn and mock the employee who is a TS, the woman should probably be fired for a form of sexual harassment. :mad:

I'm curious to know if HR demanded to see the offending prosthesis or canned her based on what is essentially hearsay even if she did admit it to her co-workers.

I bet all the lawyers in town are fighting like rabid bats to represent her in court; unless the EEOC gets there first. ;)

The "man" who was mentioned would have a good case, because he has apparently done nothing wrong. If he is transgendered, he should not be subject to ridicule for that reason. If that was what the woman was doing, she could probably be fired for that. :eek:

Of course I saw that. I don't believe her. What I believe is she is just claiming that to avoid being fired. I don't believe a 45 year old old woman is considering a sex change and the first thing she does is wear a dildo to work and tell everybody about it. If she can show sessions with her shrink where they discussed the possibility, she might have a case but, if one day, out of the blue, she decided to wear a dildo to work, that is another.

I also think she was just mocking her coworker who really is transgendered, and she deserves to get fired for that.

However, if this person was wearing a prosthetic penis-- which is not a dildo at all, being soft and unsuitable for insertion- then she might actually be sincere. You don't find those at the local highway-side adult novelty shop. She would have had to search it out.

Although we are somewhat accustomed to hearing about MTF transsexuals, there are more FTM folk out there than you can imagine. Most of us have lived feeling there was nothing we could do about it. We haven't talked to shrinks, necessarily. The notion isn't widespread.

What this person has discovered though, is the fact that Male Privilege comes with Male Responsibilities-- men do not talk about their penises in the workplace.

I would have thought a person contemplating such a drastic change would have consulted a shrink, but I have no first-hand knowledge on the subject.

I wouldn't assume from just the article that Box is wrong that this might have started with her taunting the other employee and that a "contemplation" of a gender change didn't factor in until she was fingered for harrassment. I'll let the courts figure it out.
