I was listening to the 'Short Story' on BBC Radio 4 the other afternoon. It's part of a clutch of stories entered for a National competition. It was by Lionel Shriver and called : "Prepositions".

It takes the form of a letter. Ten years after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre, the writer writes to her former friend, who'd lost her husband in the building crash and mentions that she, too, lost her husband in the ensuing chaos. She points out how life has treated them very differently.

BBC Radio 4

It's a damned good story.
