I posted this originally at the "Story Ideas" thread, but I thought, why not post it here too? ;)

I've been contemplating writing an intellectual and drama-focused story about incest of my own, and I wonder if you guys might be interested in offering me your opinion about the plot-outline OR helping me write it. :D While there will be erotic moments, this is not the focus of the story (see second-last paragraph below). I'd rather see my reader cry than cum after the end (though cumming in the middle at erotic parts is OK. ). I particularly need suggestions for wherever I have brackets ( ). I’ve decided not to give specific names to my characters yet, just because I’ve always felt names carry a great deal of power with them so I want to think a bit before I incase them within a name.

THE CHARACTERS

The story will have 4 main characters. It will essentially involve two unrelated sibling pairs and a complex love-triangle between them: middle-classed Brother-Sister A and orphaned Brother-Sister B. Siblings A live together in one house, and Siblings B in another.

Brother A:

- Is secretly in love with Sister A, but his sister doesn't know.

-Will necessarily be the most interesting character. He is handsome, wild, energetic, funny, but careless and unpredictable, aggressive, loves practical jokes to the point where he is almost a public menace.

-Beneath all his laughter, however, he is a inherently tragic figure, self-mocking, never revealing his true feelings except with occasional hints. While nowhere near as devious or in control as Hamlet, you’ll be right to see parallels. (What profession?)

Sister A:

-Brother A's sister. Early in the story, she becomes engaged to Brother B.

-Sister A just has sisterly feelings for Brother A. She is the only one who understands Brother A and loves him for what he is, but she doesn’t quite detect the source of his tragedy (until she finds out he loves her, of course).

-I am having difficulty developing her character, actually. I don’t want her to be a stock character, but I don’t want her to be too wild either. (Any ideas?) I’d like to give her some weaknesses, while ensuring that the reader knows that she’s the ideal mate for her brother. (I have yet to choose her profession?)

Brother B:

-Brother B is the villain, and unsuspecting to Siblings A is actually marrying Sister A for some selfish purpose (?? suggestions?). Furthermore, Brother B is behind some kind of underground network of crimes... (perhaps a prostitute-trade?)

-Brother B, is on the surface a fairly normal, outgoing, charming, person. Occasionally, however, he betrays his dark and abusive side of him. He is extremely calculating and the fearsomely cunning and frighteningly intelligent. As the story progresses, the reader realizes he is a sadistic monstrosity fit only to howl at the moon. He’s much more sinister than Claudius could ever be. (Profession?)

-Brother B and Sister B appear on the surface to be normal siblings, but while they lack sexual feelings for one another, they're relationship is dangerously imbalanced. This is gradually revealed in the course of the story.

Sister B

-Brother B's sister. The story will be taken mostly from her point of view. She will essentially act as "fifty business" in the story; she is the one who holds the keys to the truth.

-She is a lonely, isolated woman who has worshiped her brother all her life because they are orphans and she loves/fears him and will do whatever he tell her to. Brother B reminds her of her dependency constantly, seeing value in her only as her capacity to keeping the books to his illegal activities. She feels guilty about their activities, but remains unwilling to reveal the truth out of love and fear of her brother. Her guilt grows after Sister A befriends her and is particularly concerned about his brother’s violent nature which Sister A knows nothing about.

-As she becomes more and more acquainted with Siblings A, she begins to understand a completely different level of sibling-love.... indeed, she finds out (how???) about Brother A's feelings for his sister, and eventually confronts him with it. Brother A makes her promise not to tell. Though at first bewildered and frightened by Brother A’s antics, her discovery allows her to understand him and she begins to wonder if she’s in love with him. A bit of an Ophelia creature, perhaps. :) (Profession?)

THE PLOT:

The plot is catalyzed when Sister A and Brother B announce their intention to get married shortly and move away to another country (Brother B is expanding/relocating his illegal activities?) Brother A is devastated and makes himself ill (drug overdose? Overwork/exhausts his body? Alcohol poisoning?). He is hospitalized. Unwilling to see him die, Sister B secretly tells the truth to Sister A. Sister A begins to fall in love with her brother, and their relationship develops into an erotic, steamy affair.

Sister A (subtly or abruptly?) rejects his fiancé. Unfortunately, Brother B eventually finds out indirectly, perhaps by reading his sister's diary. Furious at his sister for what he perceives as a betrayal, he rapes her (this is a CRITICAL scene). Furthermore, determined to seek revenge for the insult, he hatches a devious plan to incriminate Sibling A on charges of incest (possibly for the rape of Sister B, with the alleged motivation being to prevent Sister B from revealing her knowledge about the incestuous relationship between Sibling A.). Sibling A, of course, fall into his plan.

Finally, the story boils down to a court case (whereby Brother A is charged with incest and rape?). Critically, Sister B initially (refuses to testify/ or she promises her brother to lie.) The incestuous relationship between Sibling A is revealed, (ie: Brother A's lawyer does a DNA testing of their bed-sheets? Uses Sister B's diary as evidence? Eye-witness accounts of a kiss? Other suggestions needed?) Inevitably it ends with the outcome resting on Sister A’s shoulders, and she must decide where her loyalty lie. If she tells the truth, she will be going up against her brother for the first time in her life, and not only will he be charged with rape and his very serious illegal activities (ie: slave-trading), she herself will face charges for cooperating with his illegal activities. If she lies or says nothing, as she has always done, Brother A will be wrongfully charged with her rape. It ends, of course, with a dramatic and emotional showdown in which she tells the whole truth.

This court case makes the construction and writing of this story difficult: . Each lawyer will be trying to paint a different picture, one true, the other false. I have to make sure that the adoption of the false story by the jury is a plausible outcome to the reader, even though the reader must clearly understand what “really” is going on. In the course of the story, Brother A will give away little public hints that he is in love with his sister, that he is wild and unpredictable, apparently caught “red-handed” with the rape, which the prosecuting lawyer can than utilize to construct his false story. However, I am not very well informed to how court cases work, and the exact legal bounds of incest. Its damn hard to think as deviously as not one, but two opposing lawyers!

The overwhelmingly dominant theme of the story will be the contrasting relationships of the two siblings. The purpose will be to challenge traditional ideas of incest by exploring the difference between "consensual" incest and "abusive" incest, a fact not acknowledged by current law. In the story, I hope to make it logical for the jury or judge to take the radical step of recommending a review of the laws of incest. To add further depth, I may also intertwine a social theme/subplot (possible example: Brother A is an environmental activist or left-wing journalist, Brother B is a corporate leader; other suggestions welcome. It would be interesting if Brother A’s job is in fact to investigate/challenge Brother B’s illegal activities, but he has no idea that the culprit is right beneath his nose. Ie: Brother A is a human-rights activist. Brother B is a slave-trader…or maybe organ-trader? Would that be controversial?).

Lengthy huh? I don’t know when I’ll be able to write it. Perhaps someone would be interested in writing? Hmmmm? :) Anyways, tell me what you think.

I can't help, but I'm bumping this, cos there was obviously a lot of thought put into this idea.

Can anyone offer anything useful?

I don't think I can really help you but to maybe give you a little boost I do have some double 2nd cousins. My grandpa married a girl who's brother married my grandpa's sister. Now that's not like marrying your own sister or brother, but it does lead to a lot of family resembelance.

Yes and no, Baudolino said. In any case, before telling where they arrived, it was necessary to cross the Sambatyon. And this was the adventure he began at once to recount. As he had been tender and pastoral in telling of Abdul's death, so now he was epic and majestic in reporting the fording of that river. A sign, Niketas thought once again, that Baudolino was like that strange animal of which he - Niketas - had only heard rumors, though perhaps Baudolino had even seen it: the so-called chameleon, similar to a tiny goat, which changes color according to the place where it is, and can vary from black to pale green; white, the color of innocence, is the only color it cannot assume.
