It was already late evening when Danae locked up the office door and stepped out into the parking lot. It wasn’t often that she was the last one to leave, and she was in a hurry to get home and get into something comfortable before the sun started to sink in the sky.

It had been another day filled with demands and last minute “hey, can you do this before you leave?” things that never seemed to take only a few minutes “I promise!” as they prepared for an upcoming trial and for the kind of defense their client was paying an exorbitant amount of money for!

She didn’t usually mind the long hours lately, especially since it kept her mind occupied since the break-up with Michael. After four years, they’d decided to stop seeing each other. He wasn’t ready to commit to anything and she was beginning to think he never would. As a matter of fact, he was already dating someone!

She unlocked the doors as she drew close and then walked around the rear of the car before her heart sank. It didn’t look like she was going any where any time soon with that flat tire! How annoying! She thought opening the car door and tossing her purse on the passenger seat. Why tonight? Why me? It was so exasperating! What am I going to do now?

If she were with Michael still, she’d give him a call and have him pick her up, and get the flat fixed tomorrow…but, he was not an option she was going to pursue!

It was getting darker out, and there was only one obvious thing to do. Sitting in the car with the doors locked, she picked up her smartphone and typed in “tyre repair” in her search engine. Three shops were listed, and she checked their websites for their business hours. She wasn’t surprised to see that they had closed a half-hour before and, once again, her heart sank.

“Ughhhh…maybe someone’s still there!” she said in disgust to the steering wheel in front of her. Looking at the phone again, she saw that Tyre Management Service was the nearest shop and hit the link to call them.

After five rings, she was just about ready to hit the end button when someone picked up the phone.

Troy had been working hard all day. Normally he would have been in the office, but two of his workers had called in sick with the flu that had been going around, so he was forced to once again don his overalls and step back onto the floor. It had only been a couple of years since he had taken over the running of the family business of Tyre Management Services, His father had started it and he had grown up at the place learning all there was to know about tyres. By the age of twelve he could strip and fit a set of car tyres in under 15 minutes. By fifteen he was working at the place part time on cars, light trucks, buses and semi trailers. It was funny he could drive all those vehicles in his families yard but not on the road.

At sixteen he passed his learners driving license test with ease and then got his probationary license the same day. He started work as a road tyre fitter that week and never looked back. He attended night school and worked during the day and unlike some of his friends he didn't spend his money, he invested it.

Now at 32 years old he owned his own house and several others he rented out. He had a Nice Car and he had several other big boys toys as well. The only problem was he had never been able to hold down a serious relationship. Oh he had had his fair share of women, but none of them had lasted more than a few months. Hell his longest relationship had been just over a year. They had all told him the same thing as well. He worked too much and was never around. Sighing he looked at the clock and the mound of paperwork on his desk. Perhaps they were right he thought. His last girlfriend had left him over six months ago and he had not bothered looking for another one, it had just seemed too hard.

Well stuff it he thought as he began to lock up. He could catch up with the paperwork tomorrow. He was just turning out the lights when he heard the phone. Ahh damn! He could just ignore it of course but that was not the way he was brought up. Walking into the office he picked up the phone.
"Hi Tyre Management Services this is Troy speaking, how can I help you this evening?"

Looking out the window as dusk was setting in, she listened almost impatiently and as soon as he was finished speaking she blurted out, “No offense, but I’d be doing a lot better if I were driving home instead of calling you from the parking lot at work! I’m so glad you are still open! I came out to find that I have a flat tire. Is that something you can still help me with even though it’s so late?”

She had to catch her breath when she was finished. Pursing her lips and tapping on the steering wheel she waited for him to say something. Any thing.

Maybe I should have been nicer. More coy. She rolled her eyes.

There was no reason not to state the obvious at this point, even if it did sound brusque. If he couldn’t help her, she didn’t want to waste her time, and she could still try the other two places that were listed on the search engine.

Troy smiled. He could hear the desperation in the womans voice and so wasn't all that upset at her tone. He knew that he was one of three places in the area but he also knew the other two places would have been locked up and the people gone a long time ago. They were franchises and run by idiots that really didn't care for their customers. Troy had gotten so much work from them he hardly knew how they stayed in business.

"Okay Madam calm down. I have no problems helping you out, I just need a few pieces of information from you. I need to know where you are, what kind of car you are driving, and if you know your tyre size that would be great."

Troy had his doubts about that last one. Most people didn't know the size of the tyres on their car even when they came in to buy new ones. The amount of times he had to walk out of his office or get the guys to check the size so he could quote the customer was astounding.

"As long as you are close I could have you fixed up and on your way within a half hour."

She sighed in relief not even realizing that he heard her. It was a long day that was only getting longer and she was getting tired, but there was not reason to take it out on the one person who could help her right now. Not to mention that he was willing and sounded nice enough even when she’d been rude.

“Uhmmm, I’m in the parking lot at 556 Prospect Road, the cross street is Cromwell. It’s not very far from you. I have a blue 2013 Holden Commodore VFII…and absolutely now idea about the tires. I thought the tire sizes were full and flat” she said, laughing a bit, trying to make a joke out of it.

She was hoping he had a sense of humor. More than that, she was hoping he’d be able to help her by figuring out the tire size himself. Wasn’t that his job? She hoped it was. Otherwise, she would be in more trouble that she thought! Stupid tyre!

Troy smiled. Great an easy make and model of car. He had a spare tyre and wheel sitting just outside of his office right now. It would be a simple matter to put it in the back of a service ute and take it to her.

"No problems. I can bring a Wheel right to you that I can bolt on so you can get home right away. I will take yours home with me and you can come and pick it up tomorrow or whenever is easiest for you. You will be on the road again within minutes of me being there. I just need to lock up and I will be on my way. it shouldn't take me more than twenty minutes to get to you, see you then."

Troy hung up and grabbed the wheel and threw it in the back of the ute. Then he reversed it out and drove his own car in. Then he locked up and started driving. Luckily traffic normally headed the opposite way and at this time of night it was lighter than normal. He made good time and it was only 15 minutes after hanging up that he pulled up next to the blue Commodore.

Hopping out he started the air compressor and grabbed the jack as the woman got out of the car. Wow she was stunning and he found his easy welcoming smile get wider. "Hi I'm Troy. I will be your knight in shining armor tonight," he joked. He quickly found the flat tyre and soon had her car jacked up and with the air gun had her old wheel off and the new one on in a minute flat. Letting the car down he tightened up the nuts by hand and then packed everything up.

He walked over to her and handed her one of the business cards all the vehicles had in the glove box. "Here you are..." damn he hadn't got her name had he. "I'm sorry I never did ask your name, but if you come here later on your tyre will be fixed and ready to pick up. I had a quick look and it still looks good so I am assuming it is just a nail or something. We should be able to fix it with no problems."

He smiled at her as he held out the card in his hand, distracted once again by her beauty.

Once Danae had ended the call she wondered what she could do to help the next 20 minutes be productive. She decided to order some Chinese take-out so that it would be ready in about 45 minutes. All she would need to do is swing in to pick it up on her way home. Then she sent a message to her mother a quick message about lunch on Sunday. It wasn’t long before she saw the ute pulling up beside her and someone getting out.

She took a long look at him before getting out, noticing his brown hair. What really stood out was his muscles under his shirt as he took the tire and set in on the ground next to her car. She stepped out with her phone still in her hand, dialed to the 000 emergency number and ready to hit “send”…you could never be too careful, even when they looked this handsome.

Danae smiled when he spoke, "Hi I'm Troy. I will be your knight in shining armor tonight."

“Hi…” she managed to get out, but he was already quickly working on getting the flat tyre off. In no time at all he had the spare on and was telling her that she could come by to pick her tyre up sometime tomorrow and holding out a business card.

“I’m Danae Boehm,” she said smiling and taking the card from his hand, reading it. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she looked up at him and continued, “I’m so glad that you were still around to help me out. I appreciate you getting here so quickly.”

Danae couldn't help smiling as she watched him and thought that he looked very cute for a guy who worked changing tyres for a living.

Troy realised he was staring a bit and smiled back. Then he grabbed a white marker from the back of the ute and wrote on the back of the tyre. "Danae, that's a very unusual name but very beautiful. Umm how do you spell that Dan.."

He wasn't sure how to go on from there and looked at her for the rest. When she told him he wrote it down and smiled. "Just so we know it's your tyre. We get a few in each day so it's best just to make sure. Now I can't tell you exactly how much it is going to cost you as that will depend on the type of puncture, but it will be between 10 to 25 dollars normally. Anything more than that and we will wait until you come in to do the work."

He smiled at her again and couldn't get over how beautiful she looked. He knew he should be getting in his car and driving home but he just couldn't seem to leave.

She watched him putting her name on the tire as he spoke. He had such a nice smile, and it reached his eyes making them crinkle just a bit at the ends. Very nice looking guy, she thought.

“You know, I never thought about the cost, but it doesn’t matter. I just need it fixed. Um, why don’t I go ahead and give you my phone number, and you can call me tomorrow morning. I’d like to only make one trip and not have to wait, and if needed, I can give you the credit card information over the phone.” As she told him this, she was digging in her bag for a piece of paper and a pen. Finally finding one of her own business card, she stepped closer to him.

“Right here is my office number and underneath is my cell. If you call that number, you’ll be sure to reach me.” She said, trying to ignore that her heart was beating just a bit faster. When he reached to take it from her, their fingers brushed ever so slightly, and she pulled her hand back quickly, rubbing it along her dress as she did.

“Thank you for coming….Troy.” Danae smiled. “I need to get going, and I’m sure you’d like to get home some time tonight, as well.” She turned to get into her car.

As Troy watched her get in her car he waved at her. "I hope your other half isn't sitting at home worried about you," he called out. Okay so it was an old trick but it might work. Besides she was hot and he thought he had felt something between them when she had handed him that card. He just needed to know if he had any chance at all or if he was just dreaming.

If it did work out he had her card with her number on it so he could ring it, but would that be considered stalkerish behavior. Damn he had not dated in awhile and he knew the whole rules had changed. Still he was pretty sure that if you were interested in a girl and had her number, you were still allowed to call her up and ask her out. After all the worst they could say was no.

She waved back and laughed, “Take care. I’ll be in touch.” He seemed nice enough, not like a serial killer, but she knew enough not to give out too much personal information.
Maybe started the Commodore and backed out of the parking space, leaving him to follow her through the parking lot in the ute.

Pulling out onto Prospect Road, she waved in the rear view mirror and headed toward home. First, she’d stop and get that take-out she’d ordered.

Danae was driving just over the speed limit on a stretch of road leading away from the city. There weren’t too many stoplights at the moment, not until she reached the residential area where she had bought a house three months before. The drive home from work usually helped her decompress. Turning up the radio to cover up her thoughts about Troy, she began to sing, her hands tapping out the beat on the steering wheel.

Finally arriving, she pulled into the garage, grabbed her things and went inside, kicking her shoes off beside the door. Walking into the kitchen and setting things down on the table, she went to the fridge and took out the bottle of wine and poured a drink to have with dinner.

Settling down and turning on the TV, she wondered what it would be like to have dinner with Troy, if he liked to laugh as much as she did, and if his kiss would be as sweet as he had been tonight.

Troy chuckled as he got back into his ute and followed her out. Oh well it had been worth a shot. Besides someone that good looking was obviously on her way home to her husband or at least a boyfriend.

He waved as she turned onto Prospect road and then he waited for his own gap. He didn't have to wait long and he was soon on his way Home. He had bought the place several years ago and it was probably bigger than he needed as he lived in it all alone, but he had liked it and it housed all his stuff anyway.

he pulled up and into the garage and headed right for the shower. God he hadn't been this dirty in years. Maybe dinner tonight would be a microwave meal in front of the television and then an early night. Still as he headed for the shower he couldn't get Danae's smiling face out of his mind.

After she ate, Danae went up the stairs to her office and put her things down. She didn’t feel like working in here tonight, so she took out a deposition to read over and headed for her bedroom. Putting in on the bed, she started undressing on her way to the shower, turning on the hot water and letting it run a minute before stepping in.

Standing in front of the mirror, she unpinned her hair and let her hair fall down her back. She didn’t look too bad, she thought as she turned to the side, at least not for her age. Her body was still slender and lithe, her breast were a nice size, but not too voluptuous, and not sagging at all. No one had ever complained, anyway. She had been with Michael for years, and he always seemed to enjoy them when they’d made love. Shrugging her shoulders, she stepped into the shower and under the hot stream of water.

As she lathered up, she thought about the day…mostly about how it ended in a flat tire and how someone had helped her. Troy. That was his name. He was very nice looking, very kind. Probably has a girlfriend or wife – so forget it, she scolded herself. Still, though. She wondered what his kiss would taste like.

When she was finished and in a long t-shirt, she sat on her bed reading the deposition and taking notes, glancing at her cellphone every once in a while. He’s not going to call, silly…not until tomorrow when he tells you about the stupid tyre! Get over it! Disgusted with herself, she turned off the lamp and fell asleep.

Six hours later, after tossing and turning most of the night, Danae woke to the sun streaming in her window, and an alarm screaming at her. It didn’t take her long to get dressed and get her make-up on. She decided not to put her hair up today, even though she normally had it pinned in a bun of some sort.

Soon, she was out the door and in traffic on her way into the office. Once she arrived, she got right to work going back over the deposition that she hadn’t finished last night and wondering what time he would call. If she’d have enough time at lunch to get pick up the tyre.

Troy had fallen asleep in front of the television again as usual. One of the reasons he had invested in a top of the range recliner lounge suite. The good thing was after so many years of waking up at the same time, he didn't even need an alarm clock. He woke up at 5:30 and yawned. Looking around he shrugged and got up, throwing on the coffee maker. While it started to make it's liquid gold he wandered into his room and got changed.

He hated wearing suits and detested ties, but knew it was part of being a boss. Still he didn't have to wear them all the time. He compromised by wearing stuff that looked good enough for a boardroom and with the simple matter of adding a tie he could appear at a meeting with confidence.

Today though all he was worried about was Danae's tyre. he wasn't even going to trust it to anyone else, this was one job he was going to do himself. He finished dressing, poured his coffee into his travel mug, grabbed his stuff and walked out to the car. Soon he was heading into work, missing the morning traffic and wondering when it would be ok to phone her. After all he should have the tyre fixed by 9 oclock but he had told her lunch. Perhaps he should phone about 10:30 then she might be able to get it on her lunch break.

He smiled all the way to work, singing along with the radio. He had a feeling today was going to be a good day.

The morning was a busy one, but nothing that Danae wasn’t used to. She thrived on the atmosphere that came along with preparing for a trial. When she was in high school, she had discovered her love for the law and that she was good at research. Before she graduated, she was looking at colleges to get her degree as a legal assistant and right after summer began college classes.

She had been a legal assistant here for almost six years, and she loved the people she worked with, and she loved getting caught up in the work. Today was no different except that, in the back of her mind, images of Troy and his smile lingered.

It occurred to her that she was thinking more of him than the tyre that he was fixing for her. This was actually something she didn’t usually do. She had dated, of course, before she met Michael and they became involved. She had moved into his place a year after they met and it was a foregone conclusion, at least on her part, that they were headed somewhere. She found out they weren’t in the worst way, and moved out without looking back.

But, that didn’t mean that she wasn’t interested in men, or in dating.

Oh, forget him! He’s probably married with that killer smile that he has. Not to mention, he probably wouldn’t be interested in her anyway!

Danae found herself, once again, looking at the clock on the wall.

Troy had fixed her tyre first thing before anyone had even arrived. It was pretty simple. She had just run over a nail so it was a simple patch job and it only took him half an hour from start to finish. He had to put on his overalls again, but it was a simple matter to strip them off afterward and clean his hands before opening up as the rest of the guys rocked up.

He discussed any changes to the days runs with the mobile fitters and then went over the bookings with the bay fitters. They had about 7 cars and 5 trucks booked in today, so it was pretty slow. However they got a pretty good amount of drive in business so who knew how busy the day would get.

At ten o'clock he picked up the phone and dug out the business card Danae had given him. He punched in her office number first and waited. He was amazed at how nervous he was. He could conduct multi million dollar deals and he was getting nervous about talking to a woman he had just met?

Finally the phone was answered and he heard a semi familiar voice on the other end. "Hello is this Danae. It's Troy from Tyre management Services about your tyre. It is all fixed up and ready to be picked up. It was a simple job so if you want to come down we can fit it back onto your car and all you will owe is $10," he told her.

Danae had been in the middle of giving instructions to one of the junior Legal Assistants when the phone rang. She checked caller ID and, instead of answering in a professional way, she had simply said ‘hello’.

He sounds so nice over the phone, she caught herself thinking then reprimanded herself to pay attention. She heard him say ‘you will owe is $10’ and assumed that the tyre was ready.

“That’s great, Troy! I can’t believe you were able to get it done so quickly. I can be there between 1130 and 1200, if that’s not a problem.” Finding out that it wasn’t, she hung up the phone and explained that she was going to take an early lunch and get a tyre issue taken care of.

Time seemed to pass quickly as she kept checking the clock, and as soon at 1125 came around, she gathered her things and told the receptionist she was heading to lunch. Traffic was light and it took her only about 15 minutes to reach the tyre shop. Pulling into the front, she checked the rearview mirror to make sure her hair was smooth and touched up her lipstick.

She knew she was acting like a schoolgirl with a crush, but she didn’t care. It simply doesn’t hurt to look nice, right?

Stepping out of the car, she went into the shop and saw him there behind the counter talking to another man in coveralls. The first thing she noticed was that Troy himself was NOT in coveralls but in something that looked like he was on his way to a lunch with someone important. Like he has a date, she thought, as she walked to the counter.

“Hi, Troy…hope I’m not too late to get that tyre taken care of.” Danae smiled at him, her heart pounding.

Troy smiled when he saw her walk into the office. if it was possible she looked even more beautiful than she had done last evening. He caught Danny giving her an appreciative once over and a small smile spread over his face.

"No problems at all Danae. If you will just hand your keys to Danny here he will fit the tyre for you," he said giving Danny a bit of a glare. "It's the one nearest the door mate. It has her name on the back, rear left. The wheel is ours so put it back in the rack when you take it off," he told him.

"Right you are boss," Danny smiled and gave a jaunty wave as he took the keys and headed out to her car after grabbing a seat cover.

"Don't worry, it shouldn't take anymore than ten minutes," he told her. "Why don't you grab a seat and a coffee and it will be done before you know it."

He sat back down and shuffled some paperwork around trying to look busy as he kept sneaking glances at her. God she looked good, but she had made it pretty clear last night she was not going to give him any information about herself.

Suddenly the phone rang and it almost scared the life out of him he had been concentrating on her so much. Recovering he picked it up. "Tyre Management Services, troy speaking how.." he was cut off as a voice on the other end began speaking. "Yeah, Yeah, Okay. How far apart. No problems I will send him straight away. Tell Nancy good luck and we want lots of pictures later."

He hung up the phone and looked at Danae. "Ahh sorry your car is going to be a little longer. Family emergency." He told her as he walked out and yelled at Danny to get in the office. He walked back to his desk and pulled out an envelope as he walked in.

"What's up boss."

"Okay mate, look I know you've been working hard but I just can't have it. I am sending you home. Here's two months salary," Troy began seeing Danny's face start to crumble a bit. "I don't want to see you back here for that amount of time," he smiled at him. "Now get cleaned up and get to the hospital mate. Nancy's gone into labor."

Danny's face split into the widest grin and he hugged Troy. "Thanks boss. You don't know what this means to us." As he began to leave he turned around, "You know it will be your turn next," he began and then broke into a cheeky grin. "Of course you have to get yourself a girl first." Laughing he ran out the door.

Troy chuckled then turned back to Danae. "Right if you will excuse me, I will just pop into my office and change into some overalls and then see about that tyre of yours."

If she was surprised to see him out of his coveralls, she was even more surprised when he turned to his co-worker and told HIM to do the work on her car. Something about this situation wasn’t right.

“Sure, I’ll wait over here. I’m glad you could fit me in.” Danae smiled and went to the waiting area. Picking up a magazine she pretended to leaf through it while watching him from the corner of her eye. She had thought him nice looking last night, but today he looked even more handsome. Maybe it was the outfit, maybe it was..Her thoughts were interrupted when the phone rang and she listened to him answering it.

"Ahh sorry your car is going to be a little longer. Family emergency." He told her as he walked out.

“Oh? Don’t worry…” she barely said before he called out to Danny. She again looked at the magazine in her hand, but didn’t see anything as she listened to them behind the counter. Boss? He was the boss? No wonder he was dressed this way, he’s the manager.

She sat there as he ‘fired’ him, then told him about the baby and gave him a leave from work – with two months pay! – before telling her he was going to change and do the work on her tyre.

Danae was dumbfounded trying to take it all in, her emotions going from anger to increduality in a matter of seconds. He was definitely not what she expected, not that she expected anything, mind you…but, he continued to surprise her with his easy-going manner and his willingness to help people. It made her heart swell and caused her interest to increase.

Wait! Did she hear Danny right?! She started smiling so much that she had to lift the magazine to cover it...Troy wasn't in any relationship! Danae was still smiling when Troy came back in telling her the car was ready.

Troy had made sure to wash his hands thoroughly before he had gotten out of his overalls. He still had his good pants and shirt on underneath and he slipped his work boots back on as he quickly got into Danae's car after removing the seat protector and drove the car out into the parking lot. It had only taken him a minute to actually change the tyre as Danny had done all the work of getting it upon the hoist and ready anyway.

When he got back to the office he threw his overalls in his office and smiled at Danae. Boy she was beautiful and the words Danny had spoken to him popped into his head. "You need to find a girl first."

Well he had been working a lot and never found the time, but his parents and friends always bugged him about it. What was the use of being young, reasonable looking and rich if all you did was work. Looking at Danae now he could understand that way of thinking. Still she was probably married or seeing someone but hell why not take a chance.

"Well the jobs all done and that would normally be $10, but seeing as how you had to wait longer how about we make it free of charge and you agree to meet me for a drink this Saturday night," he asked her in a hopeful tone.

Smiling, Danae said, "I don't know. You're already letting me get away without a service fee...what will the owner think if you don't charge me anything? I'd hate for you to lose your job."

As much as she wanted to meet him for a drink, to sit across from him in some little place around town, it really wasn't worth losing his job over. She realized that she wanted to get to know this man better

She still had her credit card in her hand, so she slid it across the counter. "But, maybe we can compromise. I pay you the $10, and you buy me a drink on Saturday," she continued, tucking her hair behind her ear and watching him.

It had been a long time since she had gone out or met anyone for a drink outside of work. There was something about him, though. Something about his smile and how he treated her made her want to be around him.

She had agreed.Troy couldn't believe his luck, plus she was actually worried about him losing his job. Well he could set her mind at ease about that at least. He slid her credit card back across the counter and smiled at her.

"Oh I think I can sweet talk the owner into allowing me to wave the fee, so don't worry about it."

He saw that she was not really going to let it go so he pointed to the sign standing on the side of the counter. It was the business registration that had to be displayed at all workshops. It had the name of the business, The address, when it was opened, when the name was copyrighted and who the owner of the establishment was. Of course his name was printed right there.

"See I am pretty sure he will let it go this time," he said chuckling. "So now how about that drink? In fact for pulling a little stunt like that, how about I take you out to dinner. My treat but you get to pick the place, what do you say?"

Danae watched as he slid the card back to her and then looked to where his finger was pointing, her smile disappearing as she read the sign and her a blush taking its place on her face. It didn’t help that, when she reached out to get the card, she placed her hand on his.

Pulling it away she stammered, “Oh…sorry…I didn’t … I thought… well, you came to help me. I didn’t know you…I thought.” She had never felt so silly, stammering and acting like a teenager being asked to the prom.

Taking a deep breath, she said, “I didn’t know you were the owner. I can see why you were still here last night.” She was still blushing. Being this close to him was having an affect on her, making her nervous...maybe she really hadn't felt like this since prom!

It seemed that today was one of those days that was full of surprises, and they weren’t unwelcome ones. Each one had come with some bit of refreshing revelation about the man that she had just agreed to have a drink with. This man standing before her, and asking her to choose a restaurant for dinner Saturday night.

“I know it’s short notice, but why not Gaucho's over on Gouger Street? Have you ever been there?” Danae was suggesting a place that was a bit more quiet than some of the other restaurants in the area, where they would be able to talk and get to know one another.

Troy smiled. He didn't go out to many restaurants, he mainly just went to pubs as being by himself it didn't look as bad, but Gauchos was one of the few places he had gone. he loved the food there.

"Gauchos would be great. Let's say seven o'clock then or would you like it earlier. I mean if it's going to be a dinner date should we have it at a time you normally eat dinner?"

Troy had always wondered about that. At home he always had dinner reasonably early, so he always wondered why dinner dates always had to be so late. Still he didn't mind if she wanted it later. After all if she was working and then needed to go home and then make her way back to town he could understand that.

"Oh and I insist on paying for everything. I am inviting you out. However if you don't like that we can make a deal. If you actually like it, you can pay for everything on the second date," he joked.

She thought for a moment before she answered. There wasn’t anything going on Saturday that she knew of. She wasn’t expected at her parents and no one had asked her to work. Seven o’clock was perfect…she’d have time to get a pedi-mani and maybe shop a little bit. It was also perfect because it gave them time to have a longer dinner, or something else after. This way they could talk and get to know one another better. And if they ended up not liking each other, gave them both time to leave without it being too late in the evening.

She stopped herself realizing that Troy was still waiting for an answer.

“I think 7pm is a perfect time for dinner,” Danae said smiling, “and I will let you buy me dinner, since you invited me. Let’s just see where that takes us.”

She liked that he was already thinking ahead, though…a second date and they hadn’t even been on a first.

Putting her credit card back in her wallet and stuffing it in her purse she told him, “I appreciate the help and the work you’ve done for me. I really do need to get back to work. Are the keys in the car?”
