Does a bus driver dressed as Santa count as original? Might be in with a chance if it does, lol.

Hmmm. I kind of want to nominate that kitty for "Sexiest Female." Quick, someone put her in a story.

My choice is Patricia51.

Sound writing and great characters and a multitude of plot twists, what more could you want.

Is it just me, or is there something strange about all these new folks with 3 or 4 posts to their credit all nominating the same person?

Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Nomination for infulential Author

I would like to nominate Artisticbiguy as an influential author along with DWSimon.

Well the way I see it is this....
The original thread for this is posted on the FRONT PAGE of Lit.... so if someone is reading lit, reads the stories thinks oh thats cool blah blah blah then goes and says hey they are good enough for this... then finds out that they have to be a member of Lit to post.... viola... instant new person

I have several friends that I talk to in chat rooms that read here in Lit but never post or anything.... but they have been reading Lit for years

Have been here just never registered before

I've read the stories here on Lit, I've just never registered before. Of course I also didn't realize (till I tried) that to do any kind of participating one needed to register.

sexyist

Dwn (voice of bearlee_ without a doubt. She is the queen of audio
Also her/his stories are brilliant too

Mo, Mitzi 'n' Liza

Is there an unwritten law saying that people with less than "X" number of post can't nominate somebody? Even if that somebody is a perfect stranger to you??

I don't intend to start a war with you but it seems to me you're barking at the wrong tree here.

Did I say I had I had to know everyone that made a nomination to make it legitimate?

I didn't think so.

All I said was that it was odd. And, judging from the number of PM's I've received, I'm not the only one who thought it odd. Is there any particular reason my observaton makes you so defensive?

You want to know why I feel defensive....good questions deserves good answers, or so they say.

Might be because I like to defend the oppressed. Might also be because as you've received numerous PMs judging it odd, I've also talked with people wondering why their identity or validity of their nomination was questionned just because they had a life out of this forum and didn't spend their entire days posting here.

Might also be because, as I heard someone say several weeks ago, it feels as though the "mutual appreciation society" is working full force and can't accept that total stranger to them could be nominated.

Cloudy

I was a little surprised when I saw your first comment on this thread. From your posts elsewhere, I never had you down as a Conspiracy Theorist.
Of course you didn't say you had to know all those who had nominated. But then, LadyCibelle never said you had, did she?

As for 'All I said...'...well that all sounds very innocent and harmless.
What you actually said was, 'Is it just me, or is there something strange about all these new folks with 3 or 4 posts to their credit all nominating the same person?'
You do not need to be a genius to conclude you were - at best - doubting the legitimacy of those nominations.

The fact you have received PMs proves nothing....likewise the comments on here, since, prove nothing.
I started coming to this site (pun intended) years ago. When I joined (to write) over two years ago (and it wasn't until 2 years later again that I had my first post on these threads) I noticed that most members had no stories here and I thought that odd for a story site. It follows that they must have been here for other reasons. So logically, those posting on the boards are not (generally) posting stories.
So why the surprise that there are writers here who don't have many forum posts?
You would have more grounds for your suspicions if those nominating weren't writers.
I have not checked them all...but those I looked at are fairly prolific writers and if their association is with an editor to help them with writing instead of writing in these forums....well....who are we to doubt their sincerity?

Jesus, am I gonna have to defend this all over again?

I'm not doubting anyone's sincerity...that said, the recent vote-stuffing crap that went on with the halloween contest left me rather cynical.

No, PM's don't prove a damn thing other than I don't give a crap whether someone bombs my stories with 1 votes in retaliation for speaking my mind (and no, I'm not assuming that you'll do that, but there are some that will, I promise)

There's a thread on the AH that someone other than myself started about this very issue, and others have chimed in that they found it odd too. So, no, I'm not a believer in some great conspiracy, just someone that saw something that looked odd, and pointed it out.

the rest edited out because this has gone past ridiculous, and edging into the absurd.

I don't think Cloudy is referring to people who have maybe 20 posts or more, but those who registered in Jan of 2005, posted only to vote, voted for the same contestants, and posted within a few minutes of each other.

When I saw those (and it happened for more than one nominee), I thought it rather odd. It wouldn't have been as supicious looking if the new names had not posted so closely together. No one is saying those who got all those close together nominations aren't good authors, and it all could very well be above board, it just looks... odd.

Miss Crimson....I thank you for your level-head. You explained with calmness and grace why some people would be suspicious.

You could ask the same question Miss Cloudy asked of me and why do I feel so defensive of those people, whom I don't know from Adam. And the reason would be the same, being a newbie isn't easy, not with all of you Lit Vet knowing each other so well...and having your identity or the validity of your post questioned because you're new isn't nice at all. (I should know I'm still considering myself a newbie and for my first 15-20 posts people thought I was either a troll or an Alt of someone else)

Aw, relax everybody. Of course some people are creating Alts to "stuff the ballot box." Nothing wrong with that. The cream will rise to the top, won't it? Writers also have fans and friends. Nothing wrong with that either.

You bet-I'm going to get my whole family signed up including my future mother-in-law-she's never really seen Dawn's pic thread or listened to any of her audios-I think she would be proud of her daughter-what mother wouldn't:D
