np I will post some for you!

Well, I thought the day I met you, you were meek as a lamb;
Just the kind to fit my dreams and plans.
But now, the pace we're livin' takes the wind from my sail

Tiger by the Tail--(Several have done it--including Buck Owens and Sara Evans)

Try this...

When I think back on all the crap I've learned in high school,
It's a wonder I can think at all.
Though my lack of education hasn't hurt me much,
I can read the writings on the walls.

Kodachrome Simon and Garfunkel

Your the one girl in town I'd marry
Girl I'd marry you now if I were free
I wish it could be
I could love you but why begin it
Cause there ain't any future in it
She's got me and I'm not free

Bye Bye Baby--Frankie Valli

try this...

Looking at the world
Through the sunset in your eyes
Trying to make the train
To clear Moroccan skies
Bugs and pigs and chickens call
Animal carpet wall to wall
American man is five foot tall and you

Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led
Listen up to what's been said to you

Marrakesh Express Crosby, Stills and Nash

Last Saturday evenin' came to the old oak tree
It stands beside the river where you were to meet me
On the ground your glove I found
With a note addressed to me
It read "Dear love, I've done you wrong"
"Now I must set you free"
"No longer can I live with this hurt and this sin"
"I just couldn't tell you that guy was just a friend"

The Worst

I don't want to hijack this thread in any way, but we seem to have a collection of people here who know their stuff & I'd like your opinion.

What do you think was the Worst song(s) of the period? Restrict your choice to songs that were released as singles, from, say, 1960 to the beginning of disco.

My own choice would have to be Zager and Evan's pompously idiotic opus "In the Year 2525" of 1969(?).

Dishonorable mention goes to Richard Harris for his drunken rendition of Jim Webb's overproduced classic "MacArthur Park."

I would also include Don MacClean's "The Day The Music Died" but apparently I'm the only one who thinks that baby sucks, and Barry McGuire for "Eve of Destruction"

Anyone else?

Hey sweetheart - since I don't know the other song - I'll answer this question.

Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks?

I want to throw up when I hear it. And my god. There are tons more. Going to have to start a thread just for this now!

Pat Boone "Moody River"

here's one...

Now if you're feelin' kinda low 'bout the dues you've been paying
Future's coming much too slow
And you wanna run but somehow you just keep on stayin'
Can't decide on which way to go

"Peace of Mind" Boston

I can't believe I actually know the words to Boston songs...
please dont tell anyone.

my turn...

Anger he smiles, towering in shiny metallic purple armour
Queen Jealousy, envy waits behind him
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground

Blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted,
They quietly understand
Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready,
But wonder why the fight is on.

... good thing they didnt have any drugs in the 60s, huh.

Jimi Hendrix--Bold As Love

try this...an old protest song--

People moving out,
People moving in,
Why, because of the color of their skin,
Run, run, run, but you just can't hide.

An eye for an eye,
Tooth for a tooth,
Vote for me and I'll set you free,
Rap on, brother, rap on.

Well, the only person talking about loving thy brother is the preacher,
And it seems nobody's interested in learning, but the teacher,
Segregation, demonstration, intergration, determination, aggravation, humiliation,
Obligation to our nation.

Ball of Confusion Temptations

Teardrops fell on momma's note
When I read the things she wrote
She said we miss you son we love you come on home
Well I didn't have to pack
I had it all right on my back

500 Miles Away From Home--Bobby Bare

Another...(A stupid one, but funny!)

He's free as the breeze
He's always at ease
He lives in the jungle and hangs by his knees
As he swings through the trees
With a trapeze in his B.V.D.s
He's got a union card and he's practicing hard
To play, the guitar, gonna be a big star
Yeah, he's gonna go far
And carry moonbeams home in a jar
He ordered Chet's guitar course C.O.D.
Like A and E and he's working on B
Big W&W and R&B and even the chimpanzees agree
That someday soon he'll be a celebrity
Get it, get it, get it.

Gitarzan Ray Stevens

My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid

A Boy Named Sue--Johnny Cash

Another--

I remember when Mary Lou said
'You wanna walk me home from school?'
And I said, 'Yes, I do'
She said, 'I don't have to go right home
And I'm the kind that likes to be alone
As long as you would'
I said, 'Me, too'

And so we took a stroll
Wound up down by the swimmin' hole
And she said, 'Do what you want to do'
I got silly and I found a frog
In the water by a hollow log
And I shook it at her
And I said 'This frog's for you'
She said...

Spider and Snakes Jim Stafford

Remember when the circus came to town
How you were frightened by the clown,
Wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew,
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

You and Me Against the World - Helen Reddy

Try this...

All of the lonely nights
Waiting for you to come, longing to hold you tight
I need you so desperately
Waiting for you to come bringing your love to me [but]...

Hint: Chorus is the song title and it is from 1969...good luck!

I'd Wait a Million Years Grass Roots

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It's getting hard to be someone
but it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me

Strawberry Fields forever Beatles

Who's that yonder dressed in white,
Let my people go.
Must be the people of the Israelites
Let my people go.

Tell It On The Mountain--Peter, Paul, And Mary

Try this obscure one (a one-hit wonder Brit band)...:D

You really should accept
This time he's gone for good
He'll never come back now
Even though he said he would
So, darling, dry your eyes
So many other guys
Would give the world I'm sure
To wear the shoes he wore
