It is easy to despair mankind and this country. Very, very, very easy. But here is something to remind us that people actually can be pretty awesome and do amazing and wonderful things.
Note how above 700mph there appears a "cloud" - which is really the shockwave as the sound barrier is approached. Note how that "cloud" very suddenly disappears at 790mph or so. That's the breaking of the sound barrier. And it took less than FIFTY SECONDS to do it. How cool is that?
