Not sure you got confirmation on the landing strip though.

There does tend to be a lot more to see if you are going to do touch and goes, though I do agree that landing hard has it's benefits. To just land and then be mostly still, feeling the reactions inside ... as everyone tries to recover from the entry.

After parking there is the post flight check that is required. That entails checking over every perfect square inch of your body with my hands and looking for any damage that may have occurred. If any happened then you mend it until it is better. Another thing is looking for cracks and making sure they are within limits. Then you check fluids and make sure they are copious. If not then you have to top them off, make sure there is plenty for the next flight. After all of the inspection is done, a real maintainer kisses the skin and thanks profusely for giving him a safe flight.

On the ground we have to do motor runs, make sure they are purring like they should be. I do this by doing another thorough inspection (we inspect a LOT) and then making sure the area is clear before starting up the motoring procedure. You have to make sure the area is clear just in case there is jumping involved, which usually there is quite a bit of.
