30 Poems in 30 Days (Redux)

His voice cries
a waver of octave
that hits the hollow place
spins dreams from the air
enraptured I ask quiet
so as not to miss a strum
who is that?
Robert Johnson she replies
her eyes wide
we are flushed
overheatinng like virus contagion's
are floating in the mojo of delta blues

we are fried chicken wings and southern cliche's
telephone converations
in spring whispered
to the ether
silly maybe
but naked in the revellery

her charm bracelet
dangles between my fingers
a pandoras box of
lost things found
and
found things lost

Men are like books, they sit around in groups
not giving out what
they're really like inside by their titles.
They waffle on in a long dialogue
before getting to the crux of the matter,
and even throw in a red Herring or two
to trip the unwary, then dump
the fertile seeds of their ridiculous ideas
before rolling off the bed never to be found again.

You are my product
Of churning mental memoirs
Allow me to feel the warmth
While the abyss eats me whole
It's like watching a snake
Suck in the last portion
Of his rat meal.
And I am Healed.

Après Easter

is it just me or has Easter chocolate gone downhill
for instance, those little foil wrapped chocolate eggs taste waxy
although given my expanding waistline, this isn't all bad

2-21 Fucku

Done

You've made me regret
every chance I've given you
That well has run dry

Right About Now

This is the part of the game
I scramble around looking
for a topic and then that,
of course, becomes exactly
what I write about. Strange
that no topic is not topical.

be a pacifist as much as you like
but when you just can't suck it up
anymore
and the hum inside your head
isn't
anymore
when you know
you're gonna kick the hornet's nest
be sure
be very sure
you bring your flame-thrower

Remembrance

A dream brought from so long ago,
near the stone bridge's scenic grave,
hot summer day, a family descends
to a grand gravel bar 'cross the river,
flat as a dance floor and split
by several narrow channels,
just a step over
swiftly running water.

Joe decided to test the depth,
washed away to a chorus of No's!
I raced after as his flume ride started,
heart in a throat for the river behind,
now I wonder if he remembers the time
his youthful butt was saved from immersion

These things return to me
in fitful dreams of memory
late at night
minds gears spin free
.................
Lawn Fantasy

Harry's on the front porch,
rocking summers eve
grin plastered just below
those mischievous eyes
watching butters jiggly bits
as she rides the mower,
doing the east yard mambo
he points n says
'you missed a spot'
just to see her bounce
across that rough place

Windbound on Wasaksina

I cannot lie, I’m not that spry
still angling is my game
but never had luck with walleye
pickerel by Ontario's name.

We‘re windbound on Wasaksina
waiting for the west wind to wane
we’re windbound on Wasaksina
with walleye all to blame.

Wasaksina Lake up Temagami way
has a wicked western fetch
there's trout, pike and bass, but hey
was walleye we came to ketch.

We‘re windbound on Wasaksina
waiting for the west wind to wane
we’re windbound on Wasaksina
with walleye all to blame.

Came in late fall, paddling two canoes
made camp on the big middle isle
then west wind blew and waves tall grew
we knew we were there for a while.

We‘re windbound on Wasaksina
waiting for the west wind to wane
we’re windbound on Wasaksina
with walleye all to blame.

Grub was short so we fished the lee
in hopes of a good fish fry
jigging dropoff for a few crappie
then felt the tug of a good walleye

We‘re windbound on Wasaksina
waiting for the west wind to wane
we’re windbound on Wasaksina
with walleye all to blame.

The fish started a good strong run
to the screech of my fishing reel
if we lost the lee, knew we were done
tightened drag to bring fish to heel

We‘re windbound on Wasaksina
waiting for the west wind to wane
we’re windbound on Wasaksina
with walleye all to blame.

The reel smoked, thought all was lost
but then the fish she turned
slack line, a gust, canoe was tossed
empty hook was all returned.

We‘re windbound on Wasaksina
waiting for the west wind to wane
we’re windbound on Wasaksina
with walleye all to blame.

It started off quite naturally
Desmond began to rise
then thought for some titillation
he'd lick between her thighs.

Margo was getting into it
lying there with legs apart,
unfortunately so relaxed was she,
she let out an almighty fart!

Desmond gagged at noxious fumes
and reeled back from the bed,
caught his foot in a trailing sheet
and fell and banged his head.

"Oh do get on with it" Margo cried,
suffering from lack of pace,
swung round to see why he had stopped
and biffed him in the face!

Seeing him lying there supine
she realised he'd reached the end,
so took the decision there and then
to use her buzzing friend.

Desmond incensed, gained verve and vim,
(By gum, that lad's got class!
Rolled Margo over, friend and all,
and shoved it up her arse!

Margo impaled, shrieked and swore,
but Desmond hung on in her bum,
then she yelled for another reason
in one blinding delicious cum!

The aftermath was messy, but
Margo learned this on that day of days,
it pays to rile her Desmond
when she wants the best of lays!

( disclaimer this is not talking about margots fart damn it of all the poems to preceed this one :D)

i want to set fire to the night
light you up
so we can burn together
in a tempest of flames and absinthe

drink down some mushrooms
flip art
from mind to reality
so we can see each others torments
peel back the armour
dented, scar woven tapestries
of all the things we shield ourselves from

trace the lines of vulnerability
in the crows feet that have formed
kiss the laugh lines
drop the pretensions
the bullshit
and put on airs

to exist with you
as you were born
strip away the insecurities
hold my hand
and let us
ride our demons

Sometimes it all feels too hard
when the status quo
isn't enough and too much
when the light at the end
of the tunnel is so dim
you almost wish it were a train
that could force a change, at least
it's tough to pick yourself up
and dust yourself off
time and time again
when your hands always feel dirty
and the pain becomes
a permanent companion
night after night falls
day after day begins
and each one starts with a decision
that makes all the difference

magic happens

when you least expect it
there's magic in hearing
that your defective genes
aren't present in the next
generation, I can only
pray that this ends with me.

I am not restarting... lol. My clock said I had 3 minutes dammit!

Harry's Run

Down at Little Annies,
stew-bums sit stewed to the gills
high on flesh and tiny white pills
waiting to harvest closing time's bounty,
then,
loaded and wild, a howl of riders, machines
hit the freeway, two abreast,
hunched, chasing the wind,
escaping devils
that dwell in their skins,
symbiosis
a shit house world ever despising the ilk
of free spirits living a different design,
where time is relative and MC2
is a whole 'nother ball game
nuclear
family,
trailing gasoline fumes n burning rubber,
laughter for the straight world,
and little else, except,
a feeling of wonder what it was like
to live a life like that
unless
you were part of that family
leaning beside the red door
closing your own deal with that redhead
crackling enthusiastic exhausts
just a fading fanfare, heightening
anticipation of a hot splash and peel,
direction unimportant but imminent
..
And now poets, I beg your ear,
for I believe the spirit
of smithpeter lives here,
between the lines and posts
you've left in your 30/30's,
both live and wrought with
careful introspection;
thank you for your gifts;
here is mine.

today's poem is short
the fickle weather's again fair
both bike and road call

1-13 (unlucky for some)

"Don't sit on that cold wall" Mother said,
"you'll get piles"
but I laughed and stayed put.
From my high perch I could see for miles.
Not miles far enough ahead it seems.

She was right.

for a man who says ''I'm old and lame''
he's run a cracking race
he's left us things
to think about
and images that chase

across a fertile bed of green
and through a black-lit sky
from growling bikes
to winter-bear
from fire, earth, and ice

his stones are thrown
and ripple through
a reader's lake-wide mind
refracting slanting sunny rays
and dredging silts of time

his words sprout seeds
of dragon fire
thistle-bloom and song
they sink deep roots, they touch my sky
they linger on, and on....

you ran it in style, mister :rose:

Well Hell

One poet's finish is another's
beginning over and over
until the magic goal is reached.

It wouldn't be so bad, except
life doesn't hand me enough
inspiration lately. Unless, cats,
dogs, children, love, living,
dreaming should prove enough.

Some days last longer
Than 24 hours
It is perspective not time
Or sunlight, lack there of
The alarms ring a gradual
Volume, my eyelids creak apart
Once more the time comes
To live awake rather
Than in my dreamy dark

2-23

I can't shed tears from these tin eyes
flip the blade
watch it spin,
arm out awaiting the destined fate
of gravity, luck and insanity
snap the stings that bind
plains and oceans
traversed
in defiance

the world wants to drag you down
use you as a puppet

asphyxiating on the lack
of oxygen
trapped in bundles of spider-webbbed
deceits

pierce my clenched fist
with the tears of those
that stand alone
let us band together
and forge a place of our own

New spring breezes
ripple the curtains
dift over the bed
wake my skin
freed of winter's cover
bask in the luxury
of an afternoon nap

Is Your Sky?

Blue reflections off the prism
of atmosphere and oceans
the way the clouds look
from space makes me imagine
every cyclone or hurricane
is merely a tempest in a tea
cup and humans are an itchy
infestation of mites biting
Earth's skin. Maybe the wind
will scour mankind off
the planet and a much nicer
form of fauna will dominate
this gorgeous drop of life.
