Sweetie, I feel for you. The exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I needed a true friend, and really needed to talk about something extremely personal with him. He was just rude back to me and said some very hurtful things. In the past, I'd always been there for him, no matter what. I was very upset for a while, until I talked to somebody who really is a true friend, of the very best kind. He sorted me out and helped turn my thinking around. I'll be forever indebted to him for that.

It's at times like those we realise who are *real* friends are, and understand who we should truly cherish. There are givers in this world and there are takers. Givers deserve givers and takers deserve takers. Although, it rarely works out that way.

In my case, it was a question of getting to the stage of not feeling we owed each other anything. Some people (men?) don't feel comfortable around "weakness" and "needy" people. I had this problem with my partner. It took a lot of time, courage and tears, but it was worth it, I'm slowly learning how to just "be there" for her -- and vice versa . (I don't know if your situation is similar or not, Honey).

Know the feeling well sweetheart... We had a bit of trouble recently and soon found out who the real friends were... and who the hangers-on were. Everyone reacts in a different way... personally the offenders got told eventually and in no uncertain terms that they were shite, and the way they were told it is unlikely they will ever speak again... No loss to us.

But you must decide if this would make you feel better or worse before bawling them out as the arseholes they are. It also depends on your relationship with them as well of course.

Chin up love, it could have been worse, they could have pretended to care while remaining false in truth.

You have just cut another facet on the diamond that represents you.

You can never stop caring. The only thing you can do is to put that person in the file cabinet marked "MY PAST" and move on. With time, the sharp pain becomes a dull ache and the wound becomes a scar. Scars fade with time, but they never truly go away.

I don't know you; I don't know the person you wrote about; but I do know me.

Too many times I've been too tied up in what I'm doing to realise that my loved ones needed me.

I failed them even though that's the last thing I want.

I have met plenty of bastards who did realise and still didn't help, but I've met even more stupid pillocks like me.

Maybe it is the end...
