25% of adolescent girls have an STD.

And in my experience many of these young girls just simply choose to forgo protection knowing full well the consequences. In reality the schools and most parents do a damn good job of educating kids on the causes and prevention of pregnancy and std's and still they take chances and end up with babies and bugs. We keeps saying "educate them!!" as if that is really the problem. I'm sorry, but from my years in health care combined with my years as a parent observing kids I'm here to tell you people are fooling themselves if they think kids just don't understand the risks they are taking. Oh yes, they'll cry and tell you they didn't know, because that's what kids do when they screw up. However, the sad fact is, most (I'm not saying all because there are exceptions) know and they still don't care enough say no or be responsible enough to buy protection beforehand.

Pre-frontal cortex, the impulse control center, we have isn't fully developed in teens. So I think regardless of whether or not a teen knows right from wrong - the mechanism that stops them from doing it isn't up to par yet.

Most common answer a kid gives when confronted by wrong doinig seems to be "I Don't Know." That is truer than most realize.

Seriously, you need to stop sucking off Rush Limbaugh, tell Michael Savage to remove his dick from your ass, and drop Bill O'Reilly's and Mike S. Adams's cocks. You're not even being rational right now. You're allowing yourself to be used as, figuratively, a Fleshlight for their egos. If you want to be a positive figure for change, you should stop being an Internet Warrior. Get away from your computer and take control of your life, instead of spitting out random "AM talk radio" platitudes.

It's not quite rational to beat an honest opinion with the sucking off, butt-fucking, or handling cocks tirade. Such venom is unwarranted, juvenile and crass.

Just about what we expect here, sadly.

Yep, as I said in a follow up post, the problem isn't a lack of education, it's having sex at too young an age.

You are absolutely right. There is a time from the start of sexual maturity, up to somewhere around 14 years old, where the only thing stopping temptation is lack of opportunity. Its a fantasy world similar to a toddler's, just with greater consequences.

That's why I'm glad my parents were so strict with me. I never had the chance to fuck up, so I never did.

Nationally Representative CDC Study Finds 1 in 4 Teenage Girls Has a Sexually Transmitted Disease.

3.2 Million Female Adolescents Estimated to Have at Least One of the Most Common STDs.

Led by CDC’s Sara Forhan, M.D., M.P.H., the study also finds that African-American teenage girls were most severely affected. Nearly half of the young African-American women (48 percent) were infected with an STD, compared to 20 percent of young white women.

Wow. We are doing something wrong...

Very sad..
Well with todays hip hop culture and MTV pushing all this sex crap.
Something should be done..

More education and testing is necessary...nobody likes condoms but I like diease even less.

I think stricter, more watchful parenting is in order, as well. Early curfews, less parties and the pressure to get summertime jobs and after school activities will give kids more structure and discipline and less free time to screw around.

Has the TV show Charmed taught us nothing? Young ones should have their powers bound. In this case their powers of reproduction and ability to contract HPV. My first recommendation would be cauterization at birth, but failing that I suppose the HPV vaccine and birth control might be a smart thing for all teenage girls to be on. But then again, if they are all on birth control who would use a condom?

I'll also take a moment to blame the jerkass parents who choose to forget those bizarre years when everyone walked around breathing heavy. Unsolicited erections, unreasonable crushes that left one trembling and sweaty.

It's such a freakish time in ones life.

I told my kids that in an emergency you can use clingfilm. Then I told them I used clingfilm to hold the taxdisc on the windscreen of the car when I was young. They saw that as too much information.:D

My family is hyper conservative, but I was well informed of proper condom usage and the benefits of abstinence as soon as I started high school. I've never contracted an STD, and I've lived a less than admirable life (sexually speaking).

And condoms are how safe? Do you know the percentage? They're certainly not 100% effective.

And when was the last time a doctor shoved that "stick" down your dick to test for STD's. They rarely do it anymore and I think it's insanity. Not all STD's show up in blood work.

What's happening is parents wanting to pretend that sex and all the good and bad that go with it isn't happening. So kids go out there feeling impenetrable and immortal and it's shit like this that happens.

Two months ago. I don't like to talk about it.

I apologize for the crassness, but I'm in the military, and I've had the excruciating privilege of working with people who spout conservative talk radio opinions with the fervor of an itinerant preacher at Sunday Service.
There nothing in the world that's as entertaining as spending 6 days a week working with people who blather on about the immorality of Liberal America, just to watch those same people make asses of themselves during the weekend by driving drunk, engaging in frantic unprotected sex bouts in pub bathrooms and fighting/injuring the locals. I've spent the last three years of my life patching up people who'd say that I'm one of the most disgusting people on the planet; of course, they're wandering around with knife wounds inflicted by Germans, or I'm waking up at 0245 so that I can make antibiotic IVs for their syphilitic babies (bringing home a dose of the clap is very moral and conservative, don't you know?), or I'm opening up the vault because "Johnny Dumbfuck" thinks that it's his right to polish off a bottle of Jagermeister and go "mudding" in a "sleepy village" that just happens to be the local school's playground. I may have judged Spins harshly, but three years of blatant hypocrisy is a bit much to bear.

I want to find the risk of getting HPV from going down on a girl. How easy is the transmission? It worries me.
