Anyone watch this series and care to offer comments?

I have consistently watched a few continuing shows on television, among them, Science Fiction Theatre, Twilight Zone, Dallas (when it dealt with oil, not the later soap version), I also liked Mash and Northern Exposure and of course, West Wing.

I recently discovered '24' and have managed to catch up on the previous four seasons, with the 5th season, I think, now underway.

I have some opinions on the show, but would rather hear yours first.

Itried to watch it when it first came on, saw the first 2 or 3 episodes then didn't bother with the rest -it just didn't grab me.

Now I get sick to Death of seeing the Adverts for it. They were showing the advert about 8 weeks before the damn series started this time!!!

My only comment would be, Very unbelievalbe that one guy could be engulfed in so much trouble, so often. I watched the first season religously - saw every episode. Then the started the second season, watched the first few epi's and found it boring as hell. Same shit, different day. There was nothing new to be seen as far as I was concerned, even though I like Keifer as an actor.

Northern Exposure

Best show ever on TV :)

I've heard good things about 24, but haven't picked up the DVDs yet... maybe I will at some point. I'm still working my way through Buffy... season 6 now...

Loved Northern Exposure...never tuned in to Buffy...a little late now I guess, in the 6th season.

'24' is somewhat an anomaly to me. It is very fast paced and extremely well written but is not quite like any show I have ever watched before.

In no particular order, that there is so much corruption within the CTU headquarters, continues to surprise me.

The almost unbelievable cell phone technology, that of tracing locations of calls instantaneously, the transmission of huge amounts of information, the apparent ease with which hard drive information is downloaded and transferred.

The use of 'torture' by Jack Bauer, which seems to parlay the question of Abu Graib in Iraq.

The close cooperation between security agencies in the US government.

The plot lines concerning nuclear and bio terror.

The ongoing weakness and corruption within the White House, the deals that are made, the shading or moral and ethical questions in the pursuit of terrorists.

I have yet another novel I am working on which includes some of the aspects of '24' and the show makes me seem terribly outdated and behind the techno curve if indeed some of what they portray is even near accurate.

It has not yet gotten tedious to me as I have be haphazardly catching episodes from the first four seasons and only now am following a new season that began in January.

Each program thus far has some surprise, large or small, it has not yet become 'predictable' the bane of many writers.

appreciate the thoughts...thank you...

Don't go lookin' for Buffy, except in re-runs on the WB, it's final episode was some years ago. It is now a cult classic and sold on DVD.

no no, I am in the 6th season... on DVD... the show ended a few years ago...

I just don't have time to watch shows anymore as they come in... I like watching them at my leisure, without commercials...

I just bought my husband the first 3 seasons of Northern Exposure on DVD for his birthday and we'll start rewatching those after I finish with Buffy...

I doubt you'd like Buffy, Ami... unless you're into teenage vampire slayers... there's some good eye candy though... :D

I have some good friends totally hooked on 24, tho... I'll get to it, eventually...

as for the technology, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was available... although they are probably taking *some* poetic license... it is fiction, after all. right? ;)
