Possibly also in many states it's not legal to execute people under certain conditions, for obscure reasons. Among those is likely the sorts of state of health that would pertain after a failed suicide attempt... ~shrug~

Very good point...interesting..soo the better question is..if a man kills himself in the woods and no one is around to see it is he really dead? no wait that is not how that question goes....something like if a man talks in the woods and no woman is around to hear him is he still wrong?? Ahh hell I give up i do not remember how it goes. Anyway..good point!

Just seems to me that it would save a lot of dollars if they wouldn't have to use the extra manpower to make sure that someone that is going to die doesn't do it before the State appointed time.
I agree with RavenStorm--it would be alot less humiliating to do it in private on your own terms;but you probably didn't give that choice to your victims,either.

I write to a guy on death row, it's a horrible nasty inhumane thing to do, it's ok for us to kill you to prove that killing people is bad. i give up.

a few years ago because of budget cuts a local elementary school had no money to build a play area for the children. Myself and several members of the community donated time, services (engineering, architectural, labor, etc...) and money to make this happen.

A week or two later I begin working on a maximum security prison to house murderers, rapists, pedophiles etc... You would not believe the number of basketball courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, etc.. being placed on this site because the criminals are people too, and they have rights just as anyone else does.

Why do inmates have the "right" to cable TV and libraries and sports fields, yet when it comes to a school and our children this becomes a luxury and can be cut to spend more money on researching the sex life of an African squirrel?

Did i just totaly open three or four new soap boxes here?? sorry..back to the suicide watch...

I totally agree with you on the school children thing, priorities in many countries are totally screwd, compare your education budget with your nuclear defence or space exploration budget, for example.

However, I think that the "holiday camp" argument (in the UK at least) fails to bear in mind the fact that you do a crime, you are punished by being cut off from all the people you love, and shoved in a building with people who (for me) would be the last people in the world I would ever spend ten minutes with willingly let alone 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
