24 - Can somone explain it to me, please??

Hey hon, don't start watching the middle of a series. What you saw was the first in a new one. It follows a 'real time' 24 hour scenario. There's not much character dev, because this is the second season, you're supposed to have watched the first.

All the characters are important to the story, dispite what it appeared on Tuesday. Damned if I know where the little girl fits in, but she will.

Its 24 consecutive 1 hour espisodes (or 45 minutes + 15 minute adverts) charting 24 hours.

I know a few people who tried watchng the entire 1s series back to back in 24 hours.

Not something tobe tried by the faint of heart

sure!
it's junk.
Bollocks! :p

OK, brat, here's the scoop.

The premise is that each hour show is supposed to be one hour of real life. In reality, it's not, because of commercials and the magic only Hollywood has where you can, say, drive across Los Angeles in five minutes, but most of the time, it holds.

Kiefer Sutherland is Agent Jack Bauer of the (fictional) Counter Terrorism Unit. In Season One, he devoted his whole day to saving the life of a presidential candidate (David Palmer, played by Dennis Haysbert), only to have his closest associate (Nina Myers/Sarah Clarke), who is a double agent, betray him and murder his wife.

Season Two begins about 18 months later. Now, Palmer is the president, and Bauer is called out of retirement to aid CTU. Someone is planning on detonating a nuclear weapon in Los Angeles.

The storylines will probably drift together somehow. The teenage girl (the red-hot Elisha Cuthbert) is Kim Bauer, Jack's daughter. Everybody in the wedding storyline is all new. So are the bad guys.

You didn't miss a whole lot by not seeing the season premiere. Kim finds herself as an au pair for an abusive husband and father, and still resents her father a little for her mom's death. CTU has only one lead on the bomb — a small-timer named Joseph Wald, whom Jack knew when he was undercover in his crime group (which is why CTU brought him back). In order to get in good with Wald immediately, he brings the severed head of the only witness against him in a court case (the witness was a child pornographer and a murderer himself, so no real harm done).

That brings you about up to speed. You don't really have to have seen every second of Season One to understand what's going on.

Happy viewing.

The best show on television, bar none! Hard hitting, well acted and written, and plently of ass kicking! Who can ask for anything more?

Saw 24 and was well into it.
It lagged horribly in hour 12-14 but then got going again. Fortunately, we get to see it without adverts so the flow is great.

Don't tell me that they've made a sequel?!
Really?
Has it started in the States?
Does Jack's daughter become a Lara Croft kick ass bitch with an attitude? Is she naked?

well here in Australia, season 1 aint over yet... i was late into it, with someone having described to me what it was all about... didnt really grab me - then i started watching it - and it has now dam well sucked me into it. Like i've got an hour to spend watching more gripping tripe. You've got a lot to answer for MR T.V!!!

Since your well into it at the moment then I probably shouldn't reveal that Jack leaves his wife and daughter and runs away to Tahiti with a prostitute named Shirley. The last five episodes are about Jack learning to surf and befriending the Croc Hunter and finding his true self.

Sorry.

guess how he gets the guy's head.

*looks at my sig*

The show did lag a little after 1 pm (Episode 13) because Jack had rescued his family and shot a bunch of guys. However, the show needed to introduce the next set of bad guys: Croatian terrorist Victor Drazen (Dennis Hopper) and his family.

Season Two is already two hours into the "day" (which starts at 8 am now).

No nudity out of Kim, but her first scene of the year was in her underwear, and she has been sprinting down a couple alleys. Not quite as good as trampolines, but it works.

She also beat the abusive husband/father with a tire iron. Cooool.
