To me it means to give my partner complete control over my body and mind. To listen and do what is asked, to understand and let go. It means that you're ready to have your mind violated and your body used.
My first question would be, "what do you gain from this and what do you expect from them"...IMO a D/S relationship is always a two way street even if some people don't acknowledge it, each person takes something from it they need...so I would be careful for what you ask for and know what you are looking for, there are some out there that are less than purely motivated so be sure you can articulate your limits and boundaries
