April 20th marks the 20th Anniversary of the Columbine school shooting.

No idea.

For me, it just didn't rise to the level of one of those "where were you" major events. Likely I didn't even hear about it until the next day. I was a second shift supervisor when it happened. I typically heard most breaking news on a time delay due to how I managed my schedule.

I don't recall, because I'm not sure I recognized the import of it right away. Mass shootings and even school shootings are simply not rare enough that I can remember my initial response to them.

One exception is the Virginia Tech massacre, the 12th anniversary of which is today. I remember very well what I was doing that day: posting here.

When the Virginia Tech massacre took place, my 2nd wife and I were at a local restaurant celebrating her job promotion. I remember that event pretty well, thinking it took Columbine to a whole new level.

My phone rings at midnight, which is always concerning. It's a Denver Public Schools robo-call informing me that schools are closed today in response to the threat. Last night, they canceled all afterschool activities. It's hard to believe one nut job could cause such a ruckus, but here we are. I have my personal feelings about this, but I'll keep them to myself.

I believe most Coloradoans just want to put this behind them while preserving the memory of those who were lost.

I just hope they catch this idiot soon.
