Hello poets and season's greetings! I hope you're all having a good end to the year, whatever you do (or don't) celebrate. I'm so happy to be active here again after a long, unintended hiatus (#$%& firewalls šŸ˜¤), and I so want to get back to regular writing here. How about you?

Who's interested in participating in a poem-a-week marathon in 2023? Tzara started us doing this a few years back. We've done it a few times and it proved quite successful. People wrote together and inspired each other throughout the year. If you write every week you end up with 52 poems (enough for a chapbook if that's your goal) and a great experience of collegiality with others who love writing like you. And of course there's mutual inspiration, potential for workshopping, laughs, cheap thrills, empathy, all the things!

If you sign on you agree to try to post a poem in the official thread each week of 2023. Note I said *try*! No one is going to think you're awful if you miss some weeks. Just do your best. The same is true for quality. We all want to write polished, publication ready poems, right? Yeah that rarely happens for me, either. Just do your best. If 52 (or however many) first draft poems works for you, fine. With a group of participants there's always opportunities for feedback and workshopping. And whatever form, length or shape, erotic or non-erotic poem you choose to write is welcome. There are some great resources here if you want to go beyond free verse. As long as you follow Literotica and forum guidelines it's all good.

So what say you? Are you in? If you are say so here. Don't make me write alone!
And feel free to add questions, comments and suggestions here too. Let's get poetic together! ā¤

I'll give it a shot. It's a reasonable goal.

I'm in with the exception of back country travel where I may write but will have to post once I'm back to WiFi wired land.

Thanks to all who've signed on thus far. It'll be fun (and even when it feels like a slog, misery loves company!). We've a good group already and I'm looking forward to reading your poems.

B2, limericks filthy or otherwise are fine if that floats your boat. As Winter_Fare pointed out you can try other forms here if you so choose. And your non-erotic poetry is most welcome, too.

Oh and I'm totally NOT into policing who writes what when. Each calender week will run from Sunday to Saturday, but if you're away or need to shift when you post (or miss a week) that's on you. Honestly I just care about the poems, our poems.

I'll start the official thread on New Year's Eve. I hope more of us will decide to give it a whirl by then! ā¤

No limerick but a bit of a sad one. Sorry in advance, but feeling it today as so many people who knew my departed wife and I are coning to see us today and it is bringing up memories:

Caregiver Blues

I have the caregiver blues
Out of love I do
Aways Remembering
Our better days

The unselfish care
compensation never requested
Grin and bare and
persevere

I have the caregiver blues
Out of love I do
Aways Remembering
Our better days

Watching my love
Flailing, failing, disappearing
From what you were before
this terrible sickness

I have the caregiver blues
Out of love I do
Aways Remembering
Our better days

The disease changed you
Irritated and depressed
No patience nor tolerance
Bring back the other you

I have the caregiver blues
Out of love I do
Aways Remembering
Our better days

Unappreciated and insulted
Demeaned at times
Itā€™s the disease speaking
It still hurts and drains me

I have the caregiver blues
Out of love I do
Aways Remembering
Our better days

Oh dreaded disease
I hate you
Taking my loveā€™s energy
If only I could cure you

You know meā€¦ Iā€™ll join a challenge if thereā€™s no mandatory forms involved (mostly because Iā€™m not a very comfortable writer yet). šŸ„³

Wooowee! We're up to nine participants (counting me). That's a lot of poetry! I anticipate a few more poets will choose to join in by New Year's Eve (well, I hope).

Here's a link to a bunch of prompts in case you need ideas. Feel free to post similar links in this thread to material you think might be helpful. And remember we've loads of resources here on the forum.

Twenty-Twenty-Two Skidoo

Twenty-Twenty-Two skidoo
your year is through
weā€™ve had too much
of you.

Supply chain
Ukraine
Insane

And one neednā€™t be clairvoyant
to know despite vaccines bivalent
Covid is here to stay.
Mask-up.

Climate overheating
sea levels rising
yet Buffalo freezing
perhaps the Bills
will win Superbowl LVII
in MMXXIII

Twenty-Twenty-Two skidoo
your year is through
weā€™ve had too much
of you.

In like Flynn

the fog Today
dances and swirls
like a ballerina
around the trunks of the trees
a whisp, there then gone
to the ether
to dance no more
