Nominations are open for the 2022 Clitorides. As always, it tilts heavily toward one site, and it would do well for the giant in the space to be represented in the awards. Certain categories such as flash, poetry, seasonal, and horror are usually lacking in nominations, and this year is shaping up as usual. Lit's regular contest schedule means we have a plethora of seasonal stories that deserve some wider recognition.

I've tried to learn more about the Clitorides, but there seem to be dead or non-updated links along the way in the process for establishing an account, and for getting information

Oops. Getting information about the organization in charge, referred to as World Literature Publishing. Without more on that, I don't see how to get involved.

Because their stories are better than others being nominated, or . . . ?
If you don't participate in the nomination process, then you are just conceding your choice to those who do participate.

That's not what I was addressing. When folks are urged to vote just to support an author, the contest becomes worthless. The contest is supposed to be about the story itself. I can see urging folks to go read stories, not just go and vote for your friends.

I have no idea how your post relates to what I posted.

That's the parent company of StoriesOnline.
My point is that I don't want to try to establish an account with some operation that has this many apparent holes in its Web presence. Maybe the account won't require divulging personal information, but I'd like first to hear from people here who have been involved in the Clitorides, and whether their experience has been acceptable or troublesome.

You left your question open ended and I was trying to head off a discussion about it only being a popularity contest. Perhaps I was unartful in assuming that was where you were going with your response.

I should have been clearer in my initial call to participate by asking for participation in the nomination process and nominate the stories you think should be considered rather than implying I was jonesing for votes for my story.

KeithD has pointed out, and rightly so, that my initial plea to support the nominations of Literotica authors and stories was inadequately presented.

So here goes:

Nominations are open for the 2022 Clitorides. The Clitorides site is sponsored by the parent company of StoriesOnLine but is open to all sites that host erotic literature. You can go here: https://clitoridesawards.org/ to participate in the nomination process if you want to support authors and/or stories on Literotica or any other site you want. We have had several Literotica stories and authors place in the awards in previous years.

Participation will require you to create an account. You do not need an account to view the nominations. Note that all nominated stories are linked back to the url of the story so you can read it. Authors nominated have links back to their Bio page (or equivalent). I used my same email account that I use for this site to create my user account there. In three years I have never received an email from that site (wanted or unwanted). It is easy to set up and you can immediately participate. All nominations that you make will go into a pending status until they are confirmed (or rejected) by the host. You can even contest a nomination if you feel it doesn't deserve a nomination. I did that when the winner of the 2020 New Author of the Year award was nominated again in 2021 for New Author of the year (frankly, I was surprised that it hadn't been caught by the host).

Participating in the nomination process can be done in two ways: 1.) You can review the authors and stories already nominated by other users and upvote the ones you agree with, and/or 2.) You can submit the authors or stories that you feel should be considered. There are several different categories that stories can be nominated for as well as general categories based on size of the story. It is possible to nominate the same story or author in several different categories. Note that when the nomination process concludes, only the top five vote getters in each category will be voted on when the voting process starts.

Keep in mind that since the nominees are voted on, it really boils down to being a popularity contest so the winners may not be the best stories or authors. In any event, participation allows the stories or authors that you think are worthy of nomination get seen by anyone else who visits the website to see what's been nominated.

And yes, you can nominate yourself as an author or any of your stories. There is no shame in self-promotion.

I had a story nominated and it won a third place several years ago. Effect here? Zero, from what I could see. Effect anywhere else? Again, zero in terms of anything tangible, affecting me.

It's another site's version of Lit's own Readers Annual Awards - a gathering of a small group of writers who appear to nominate and vote for each other, where there seems to be a pretty clear line between insiders and outsiders. It's not representative of anything much, and it's by no means an industry standard.

I can't remember my account name, and certainly can't remember a password, which means I never go to the site.

They're a wider version of the annual awards here, and like those, these are about ballot stuffing and nothing to do with the quality of the story.

I was nominated a couple of times and didn't know until afterwards. I never even have the chance to stuff the ballot box.

I think I arranged the nomination, to be honest, but didn't expect to place. Like the Readers Awards here, I don't think the vote count is high - in the tens, not hundreds, so it's rent a fan, mostly, I reckon.

FYI - Voting has started for the Clitorides

As with nominating stories and authors, you'll need to log in to vote.

Last year I was nominated in a couple of categories on the Clitorides (by someone else, BTW - and unexpectedly; I guess they liked my writing...?), and got fourth and fifth places, respectively, for Alison Goes to London and The Cursed Cunt. No, not a perfectly-designed competition, but if it encouraged a few people to read my stories, then all well and good.

World Literature Publishing, and StoriesOnline, and the Clitorides are no more skanky than this parish. Thoroughly legit, though with a different style. I have several stories on StoriesOnline as well. They don't bite.

This year, my story Widadari Ophelia is in the running, here: https://clitoridesawards.org/vote.php?d=s&cat=1 See if you like it.

Read widely, and vote honestly!

I am delighted to announce that my story Widadari Ophelia (on Lit, "hot" at 4.64) has now been awarded 2nd place in the Flash Erotic Story of the Year category on the Clitorides.

No, it's not a perfect competition. But it is a good story, though I say so myself. Have a read: it also has the benefit of being short!
