Do you have a goal for your writing in 2020 here at Literotica? I'm inquiring especially about any goals you have for developing your writing style, rather than things like number of stories, statistical goals, that sort of thing.

I want to work on narrative style, and in particular work on developing my grasp of free indirect narrative style. This is a third-person style in which the author slips between the perspectives of the narrator and the character without obvious signals and tags like "she thought."

I have goals for what to get written and published. I don't have a goal to screw around with my writing voice or technique. If anything changes there, it will be by doing, not by talking about it or planning it.

To Finish Some Stories

My goal is far simpler. I had once written some stories a year or more ago, but never published them, then deleted them as being something I did want to pursue. For 2020, I want to resume writing, and have a couple in draft. Writing is hard work for me, but I want to see how it feels when I finish some again.

Technically, I'd like to develop the style I used in Watch Me!.

Non-technically, I'd like to let go a little and express emotions more than actions. I'd like to make my people breath the same air that you and I breath. I'd like to make their experiences and feelings your experiences and feelings.

No. If I manage to improve, it'll be an adjunct to my writing, not some pre-conceived path for improvement. Sounds too much like course-work, to me.

Just to keep doing it. If I manage to improve, great, but getting words out (of my head) that readers enjoy is my main goal.

I think my goal is to write even more in the style that I already write. It's not to everyone's taste, but the readers who like it seem to love it. Also, I'm an old dog; I don't think new tricks is really an option. :)

As with the past year or two, I really want to find more unique stories and twists to erotica.

That means more detective stories, a bit more sci-fi elements, that sort of thing. I find that a lot of erotica, most actually, tends to have repetitive plots.

I just need to write more. Have been too busy with other things.

Just practice through writing really. I want more oomph in my fantasy, so I'll just keep writing, writing, writing.

Got 11 parts to go for my main story here on Lit, and then about 50% of a short story collection in my mother tongue that'll go to a publisher in november. So, just improving along the way, really.

My only writing goal for 2020 is to rewrite and expand No Men to Love to a novel-length story. I plotted it months ago, but have not embarked.

I like that you have such a specific goal, Simon. Those are usually the ones people achieve.

I have a lot of content Not published yet. I’d like to queue some stories up for a patreon blog. There is more fan fiction coming here too.

Most of my realistic short-term goals start with "Finish...". My big current thing "Mud & Magic" is nearing its finale and I hope to be done around April or May. Then there's "Fading Stars", a Sci-Fi epic I dearly want to wrap up, "Rembrandt Legacy" has "sequel" written all over it (and I have 30,000 words which just won't come together) - and that's stuff my readers expect.

I WANT to write a low- to no-sex Battletech story, a new cyberpunk story revolving around an illegal bloodsport game show and a humorous take on vampire erotica. But I have no clue where to cram it into my schedule.

Long-term, I'd like to grow my Patreon into the triple digits and maybe manage to put out decent ebooks of my stories. My attempts in that direction have been... difficult.

Simon wiped his brow. "Phew. Thank God I got something out the door eventually. EB's never going to let that one go past!"

EB grinned, and Suzie kicked him under the table.

Simon looked sadly at his 2019 "to do" list, picked up his favourite pencil and crossed through one entry. He paused, and quickly wrote in another - "be prepared to grasp unexpected opportunities," followed by, "pick up more bait."

:)

I want to get my writing tighter. I like lengthy descriptions and a good slow-burn, but even for my own tastes, the content I produce is far too wordy. I'd also like to get better at managing my dialogue, especially dialogue tags. Unlike a lot of folks, I'm actually not against "fancy" dialogue tags, but I use dialogue tags a bit too frequently and the way I use them can be clunky.

I also have posting goals, namely that I want to get into a regular posting schedule for my current fantasy series and at least start posting a dystopian sci-fi series in the noncon section. I'd also like to enter at least two contest over the course of the year.

I want to publish 1 Lit story a month and get one to two mainstream novels published this year. My stretch goal is 3-4 mainstream novels in the year. The stretch is pretty ambitious but I have most of the novel done and hope to gt to betas by march

My goal is to ... WRITE!

Haven't been able to do anything for 2 years, but I'm about 25% of the way through what I hope will be a good one, for publication in about 2 months.

I have numerical goals for 2020 as well, so if that's what you're shooting for that's fine too to post here.

In addition to the 28 stories I've already published I've got about 40 stories that I've either outlined, started writing, or written at least a plot/idea summary for. I want to publish 24 of them this year -- 2 a month. That's a far more prolific pace than I've set the last two years. The only time I've achieved that pace was in the first six months of writing at Lit, when I published 13 stories. 2 of them are done, ready to submit, so I'm on pace so far. I expect to finish at least two more and submit them before the end of January.

But even though I'd like to meet that goal, I don't care much if I do or not. I'd much rather feel like I'm improving my writing style, which is why I've set a stylistic goal as my first goal. Numerical goals come second. Eventually, I intend to write a mainstream novel, and I'm using my story-writing on Literotica to improve my writing skills to the point that I feel I'm ready to do that.

I just need to sit and write. It takes me forever to get anything finished. I to make a schedule and stick to it rather than just write when "inspiration" hits.

My goal is to improve my writing overall. I don't have a specific style I want to try. My goals are more along the lines of what NotWise wrote - to improve my characterization so that my people consistently come across as real, complex human beings, who just happen to fuck a lot. I'd like to branch out into stories that have more than two major characters, to work on creating those interactions, and really differentiating people from each other.

But I also want to get better at editing myself and being less verbose.

I'm planning to read more books on the process of writing, and brush up on my grammar.

My other goal is to write more good BDSM stories. I find that lifestyle fascinating, and it really appeals to me on a lot of levels. But good stories in that category seem harder to find than other categories, so I'd like to write longer more complex stories with those themes that are also realistic and respectful of the people who actually do live that life.

I'm planning to submit about one story a month, plus enter some of the contests. I might also branch out into other categories I haven't written in. In fact, one story that's almost finished will be in a new category for me, but I'm not sure when it'll be done.

I liked this thread, Simon.

Plotting. I really want to continue to improve my story plotting, and get myself to the point of writing full length 150k word novels with a decent plot with a few twist and turns along the way.

Dialog - keep working on that and on characterization
Grammar - gotta work on my grammar and punkchewation

Publishing- outside of Literotica, I really want to get a whole slew of novels published this year
And a dozen stories on Literotica- I have 5 almost ready to go now

 Lemme ditto ^that one^ up there! Plus sending a big wave at BJ in Germany. Told ya' I'd start showing up here again. :cattail:

Since I'll start my 16th year here at Lit in April and haven't done diddly~squat for the last two-plus thanks to my bipolar disorder fucking up my brain for 18 months, just getting BACK to writing a little each day would be a major (and welcomed) change for me.

Plus, I have way too many damn fat-assed plot bunnies sitting around in cages and I'm tired of them wiggling their noses at me! :D

Yay! Glad to see you back! Time to skin some of them bunnies now, eh? :)

After two and a half years of monthly installments, I expect to finish Mary and Alvin in June,

I have several concepts for new series that I have been kicking around for my next project. The big one is "The Gold Dollar Girls", the interlocking stories of four women who work together in a strip club. My tentative plan is to publish it in four parts, scheduled close together.

While working on that, I will likely do some shorter pieces, spinning off from the story I did for the "One Night In..." event last year. My concept is a number of stories of stories about different characters who are connected because they all hang out at the same bar. Some would interweave, others would stand alone.

Also, one other project, an attempt at doing something more humorous, a series of short stories about the adventures of a female wilderness guide with titles like "---Meets the Lusty Lumberjack" and "---And The Frisky Fisherman" etc. Just something for a little fun. Nobody dying, or going to prison or anything traumatic. That would be a change of pace!

My goals for the year are:

1. Finish the story I am currently working on, that is about 80% completed.
2. Finish two other stories that I started some time ago but allowed to fall by the wayside.
3. Resume Queen of Sorrows. Two chapters uploaded, eight more to go. I would be happy to get at least three more chapters up by the end of the year.
