And wazzup for 2014?

Actually, now that you mention it, the strangest thing happens to my writing every year in October. Weird.

My writing suddenly improves, nothing big but something noticeable, something that I do different with the description, dialogue and/or interior monologue to make the story better.

I haven't given much thought for 2014 as I'm still writing stories in 2013.

For 2014 I wanna focus on noir, especially writing 3 series: the adventures of a former nun and mafia wiseguy, a hitman and his lover (who operates their sleazy Heartbreak Hotel), and a perfesser who marries the child she put up for adoption when she was a girl.

And wazzup for 2014?

I got burnt out writing online classes, so I quit. I wasn't making much money at it, and I did nothing but work (outside of my real job) for three years. With all that extra time I was able to increase my story list from 7 to 13 stories. I was afraid I didn't have any more story ideas, so I'm pretty pleased with that.

2014? I'd like to try writing a sequel. Not sure which story yet, but I haven't done any stories with a second chapter yet. Seems like a good goal.

I'll look forward to it.

In 2013? One of my mainstream novels was nominated for a major statewide award (but didn't win) and I assumed I wouldn't meet the several-year schedule of publishing at least 24 erotica e-books, but it looks like it will be at least 26.

2014 goal: Maintain the 24-erotica e-book publishing schedule, if I can.

You can do it.

It got started.

Hopefully the Nobel Committee will recognise my contribution to the literary arts...

While I admire your commitment to quality the Nobel Prize for Literature is now the Consolation Prize for Failed Obscure Minority Navel Gazers.

Now that you mention it . . . .

Obviously, 2013 marked my return to Lit after being away for a few years, with a third-place win in a contest to celebrate. ;)

2014 is going to be the year -- I hope -- that I finish a non-erotic novel and submit it for mainstream publication.

No apparent reason you cant! I mean, shit happens, but barring that go for the gusto!

It's a matter of time management crossed with literary stagnation. I'll probably graduate with my third degree this summer, which means I'm armpits-deep in my senior project from now until then. Combine that with the fact that I have everything fleshed out for the book except the ending, and you see my problem.

I hate when I can't see the ending.

Well the amazon screw job and Kobo indy witch hunt is pretty note worthy.

But as for actual writing.

I feel I wrote my darkest and all around best piece of work early this year "Dark Genesis" its part of my BDSM Circle series, but I went back to my horror roots and through in some supernatural along with a lot of graphic violence.

Sales? so-so, but I love it (so I guess kiss of death:D)

I'm not sure if we are supposed to stick to lit stuff so that's all I'll say about "paid stuff"

as far as lit goes

I got a W for a third place finish in Summer Lovin'

Hit the 2k favorites mark

Wrote what most likely will end up as my most "successful" incest story as far as votes/comments/ score etc... but no one will ever really see it because it will never hit the all time incest list because it is broken beyond repair.

At one point I had the number one story on the 30 day lists in Incest, Group and Mature.

For goals this year? Maybe another contest win and I would like to post in the two categories I have left here that is on my list to try Lesbian and Interracial

aside from that, not much most of my goals are on the paying end and the way things are going for indy erotica I may want to lower them if I want to meet any of them:rolleyes:

STFU Youre too modest, Boy Wonder.

I'm interested in writing more unique stories.

I've recently been inspired by other stories I've read to think bigger. Not necessarily to make longer stories, but to to think of a bigger scope.

I'm already working on my Valentine's story which features a female detective and lots of crime stuff. I also have an idea for Earth Day which features a Queen, and for the upcoming Winter contest, I have a story featuring a Princess.

So I'm writing things I don't usually write, and I don't have plans for any new incest stories (except for the one already written for winter)

2013 was a rough year for me on the personal front. I managed to participate in FAWC 2 and place first with a non-erotic story (which isn't the most popular category on a porn site).

Despite moving and too many bouts of sickness to count, I continued to write. Which puts me to 2014.

I have two novels I want finished in 2014. And the NaNo coming up is for publication, not Lit, so I'll have that to deal with.

You got that right about non-erotic views!

I shall remember you said that when I'm standing at the podium in Stockholm giving my acceptance speech:

"I would like to thank my mom, my dad, my sister, my babysitter, my aunt, my dog, God, Jesus, Maid Mary... bla... bla... bla... whogivesashit... yaaawn... zzzzz.... and of course my primary school math teacher. Oh and just one more thing - IN YA FACE JBJ!"

;)

At least youll get a sweet payday.

I think I'll dust off my future Hugo/Nebula award winning sci fi story and get it done.

Well 2013 was interesting for me. I placed high enough in 2012's Survivor contest to win a gift certificate, which I thoroughly appreciated.

Had the thrill of winning the first FAWC challenge.

Officially tied my panties in a knot over Lit's contests and bowed out of 2013 Survivor and began a personal boycotting of all contests on Lit.

Officially tied a second knot in my panties about story theft and removed well over half my material from Lit. Was surprised when I received quite a few PMs and emails complaining people couldn't find their favorite story of mine anymore. (Shucks, one would have surprised me.)

So 2014 finds me at a different crossroads than the one I felt in 2011 when I jumped into Lit with both feet. Do I think the contests are "rigged" or that they favor site favorites? Fuck if I know. I'm sure not satisfied with the imperfect scoring system or the chorus of a select few who will defend the site with sketchy reasoning. I'm also at a real crossroads concerning story theft (site apologists need not comment, I get it: free site means free-for-all).

I haven't been paid to write porn in over 20 years. I don't know if I have the energy or interest for pursuing the erotica marketplace which pushes me harder towards my non-erotic writing. So, for 2014 here are a few of my resolutions:

Less drama.
More non-erotic writing and more polishing of the non-erotic.
Survive 2014 without a heart attack or a change in my crappy lifestyle.
Strategic Lit story posts.

The beginning of this year saw my intro to Lit and gave new life to my writing, and that was a very good thing. I actually finished things I started (well, at least some of them.) I find myself being inspired with more and more story ideas (erotic or otherwise.) I've also made some very good friends here, and for that I'm grateful.

Next year I hope to finish my NaNo novel from last year, and this year (if I don't finish in November.) I also hope to finish the screenplay I've been writing for years, and try my hand at a TV pilot.

I'd like to continue to post completed stories here on Lit, finish my Nude Day story and my Superhero story, and see if maybe the latter could be translated into a graphic novel. (Very graphic. haha.) And be more active in writing my blog.

In short, (too late!) I'd like to just keep writing. Not for recognition or money (though either would be nice) but for myself.

2013: I feel my writing got a mite better, mostly from working with a stellar editor IRL and listening to the insights, advice, wisdom posted here.

Oh, and a writer who I admire tremendously called something I wrote "graceful." Granted, I wrote something nice about him, so it was probably 99% blowing sunshine up my skirt, but he said it to someone else, not to me, so maybe not.

2014: Hopefully, I won't chicken out, but I'd like to sell a fiction piece. I've made my living in the editing/writing world, but Lit is my first foray into fiction, and I'd like to see if I could write fiction someone would pay for. (Hat tip to Lovecraft for taking the time to answer questions re: Smashwords and All Romance.)

This is a great thread, JBJ.

I have all kinds of goals for what I want to accomplish at school, both short and long-term, but I never thought to establish a goal for a little hobby.

I'm enjoying reading about others' goals too. It's an interesting group here, and the resolutions are pretty diverse.

Thanks for posting this.
