THE GIFT OF A NEW YEAR

Here’s to the year

that’s almost past its expiration date—2006.

We all had some surprises, didn’t we?

Some good, some distressing.

Let’s use everything we got from our experiences,

everything we learned,

to enrich the new year.

Here’s to the new year, 2007,

a gift we haven’t opened yet.

May its bright, shiny package

contain even more than we hope for.

And even while we’re delighting in new treasures,

let’s appreciate fully what we already have—

the blessings we take for granted.

Make a list, and check it twice.

And here’s to all you wonderful people

who are putting up with my toast;

I hope in the new year

you see yourselves the way I see you:

intelligent, interesting, and likable.

To 2007: May it give a whole new meaning

to the phrase, "the good life."

OMAN and JENNY! :)

ALL PLAYGROUNDERS!!

New Year's Wishes

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastro-enterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-lift, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May New Year's Eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherished friends. May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and the pleasure much more fulfilling than anything else you might ordinarily do that night.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them. May someone love you enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May the telemarketers wait to make their sales calls until you finish dinner, may the commercials on TV not be louder than the program you have been watching, and may your check book and your budget balance - and include generous amounts for charity.

May you remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parent, your siblings; but not to your secretary, your nurse, your masseuse, your hairdresser or your tennis instructor.

And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.

Happy 2007 Everyone!

Happy new year to you and Jenny - Hope 2007 brings you all the very best for you both

FULFILLMENT IN THE NEW YEAR

Here’s to the outgoing year, 2006: May the good times live on in our memories, and may we learn lessons from the troubling times that will make us stronger and better than ever.

Here’s to 2007: For each and every one of you, may it be filled with significant steps toward the fulfillment of your fondest wishes.

In this coming new year, let us focus on our goals and work toward our dreams, and yet let’s all try to go with the flow a little more and stress a little less.

And most important, here’s to all of you. Appreciate yourselves and each other in the new year as I appreciate all of you now. Let’s focus on each other’s good points and choose to overlook minor annoyances to create mutual happiness and contentment in 2007.

Oh jeez - the two I highlighted Oman - f'n priceless. :D

Seriously, I can advise you - as much as you may think it, staying your side of the pond is a great idea, DO NOT under any circumstances consider a UK move, as charmed tells me, we talk funny, we spell things wrong, we drive on the wrong side of the road, Summer is usually on a Thursday morning (I slept in that day), gas is expensive, houses are way expensive etc.... Not trying to put you off mind, just give some perspective here!!

As for the one lung, I can kinda understand that, but if you want to be able to annoy Jenny into old age, you need to quit - period.

I WILL kick the habit soon after I am settled down later on this year, only for charmed to drive me to take it up again and a few other vices no doubt

But whatever your resolutions are, just promise to do as Jenny, love her as much as she does you ;)

Hi GS :rose:

Just wanted to let you know that Oman's love for me is incredible! He knows a good thing when he has her! LOL! ;)

Let this coming year, 2007, be better than all the others. Vow to do some of the things you've always wanted to do but couldn't find the time.

Call up a forgotten friend. Drop an old grudge, and replace it with some pleasant memories. Share a funny story with someone whose sprits are dragging. A good laugh can be very good medicine.

Vow not to make a promise you don't think you can keep. Pay a debt. Give a soft answer. Free yourself of envy and malice. Encourage some youth to do his or her best. Share your experience, and offer support. Young people need role models.

Make a genuine effort to stay in closer touch with family and good friends. Resolve to stop magnifying small problems and shooting from the hip. Words that you have to eat can be hard to digest.

Find the time to be kind and thoughtful. All of us have the same allotment: 24 hours a day. Give a compliment. It might give someone a badly needed lift.

Think things though. Forgive an injustice. Listen more. Be kind.

Apologize when you realize you are wrong. An apology never diminishes a person. It elevates him. Don't blow your own horn. If you've done something praiseworthy, someone will notice eventually.

Try to understand a point of view that is different from your own. Few things are 100 percent one way or another. Examine the demands you make on others.

Lighten up. When you feel like blowing your top, ask yourself, "Will it matter in a week from today?". Laugh the loudest when the joke is on you.

The sure way to have a friend is to be one. We are all connected by our humanity, and we need each other. Avoid malcontents and pessimists. They drag you down and contribute nothing.

Don't discourage a beginner from trying something risky. Nothing ventured means nothing gained. Be optimistic. The can-do spirit is the fuel that makes things go.

Read something uplifting. Deep-six the trash. You won't eat garbage – why put it in your head? Don't abandon your old- fashioned principles. They never go out of style. When courage is needed, ask yourself, "If not me, who? If not now, when?"

Look at the person you have blamed for your unhappiness, and ask yourself was the criticism legitimate? Did I do anything to help them or did I just decide I am better than he or she and walk away?

Walk tall, and smile more. You'll look 10 years younger. Don't be afraid to say, "I love you". Say it again. They are the sweetest words in the world.

*sigh*

I'm sorry, Oman and Jenny. 2007 sucks.

I'm glad yours is going so well though.

Oman and Jenny, thanks. Nothing to do but grin and bear it. I'm always glad to see either of your names on a post though. It gives me some comfort to know good people like you.
