A few minutes ago my 200th e-book went live.

My first was published in March of 2011. Just as I would have never thought I'd have been so well received here, there was no way if you told me 11 years ago I'd hit this number that I would have believed it.

I always think about how there are people who post one story/one e-book and never another, and the people who keep going are either dedicated or crazy. I'm way more the latter, but I have Pitbull like tenacity coupled with a lot of Fuck you if you think I can't...which is mostly aimed at myself.

I want to thank some of the longtime members here over the years who helped stay engaged in writing, get better at it, and for those who taught me the ropes when I initially looked into publishing to the market.

Now, enough resting, time to start thinking about #201.

Congrats!!!

So do mind sharing, do you actually make any money off of it?

Between all the titles and platforms I average around $1000 or so a month. Not quitting the day job, but its an extra income with very little overhead involved.

Congrats. I'm impressed by (and a bit envious of) your productivity and I'm glad you get at least some reward from it.

Congratulations! That's a lot of work! Roughly how long is your average ebook and what's the average time involved in writing each?

This is what makes the number a bigger deal, just about everything I write goes over 20k because I tend to do a lot of slow burns and push character and story, #200 was 47k which in e-book terms can be considered a novel. I have some over 100k

Time depends on flow a few were a matter of days some I worked on off and on for a month.

lovecraft68, thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if ebooks are expected to be the roughly 100K word target some traditional publishers seek or if a lower number might sell in the electronic marketplace. Glad to hear that a variety of sizes will sell and that you're doing so well with it.

a lot of e-books fall into the 10k or three lit page range.
So you know, platforms do have work limits because there was a point people were submitting a slew of 3k and under stories and most customers don't look at word count, they just buy and then they were returning them when they discovered they were paying for a few minute read and that led to charge backs. Shortest I've submitted is 9k I always try to make them at least 10-15k...good thing I'm wordy and self indulgent
