The USA is the only first rate (Super) power in the World.

China is the only second rate power with realistic ambitions of becoming a first rate Super Power.

There are several 3rd rate powers.

So why is one 3rd rater, Russia being treated as though she is of first rate importance when she is clearly not? Is there any political, strategic or other advantage to be gained by USA in promoting Russia beyond her station?

You got nukes - It becomes real important. To be honest, I think it is the anti-Trumps wanting to bring back the cold war fear.

Britain has Princess Charles poised for coronation. Russia has Putin.

I cant name one endeavor Britain excels at. Russia excels with most endeavors. China is a thief incapable of innovation. America makes China viable. Russia doesn't need America. Russia has always been crude and Spartan. And it excels with what matters. Britain has Princess Charles and Lord Kate.

I doubt China has ambitions to being a first rate superpower. Too insular of a nation. Just want to be left alone within their sphere of influence. Their nuke numbers are way behind Russia and the US.

How many do you need to EMP your enemies into the stone age?

Yet China is ambitiously following in the footsteps of Russia and US when it comes to space exploration. They're picking up where the US left off.
