Once again I have to shake my head in disagreement with our court system handing out justice to kids who kill...

About two months ago a 15 year old gets 50 years to life in prison for killing seven people at school in a San Diego court room...

Today, in Florida, two brothers who are 12 and 13 years old faced life in prison, no parole, if convicted for capital murder...The two brothers only killed their father with a baseball bat and then burned the house down...Jury comes back with a 2nd. degree murder conviction which basicly means the brothers didn't premeditate the killing...The evidence was there that it was premeditated, I mean how can you not plan to kill someone if you use baseball bats and then burn down the house...2nd degree murder means that the decision on the punishment now rests in the judges hands...

1st degree murder = Life, period the end...

2nd. degree murder = The boys may never serve any jail time and could get off with juvinile dentention till they are 18 years old...

Two months, two states...

Both trials were murder trials...Both trials end with a GUILTY verdict...

The kid in San Diego gets a minimum of 50 years...

The brothers in Florida may never serve hard time in an adult prison...

You tell me...IS THAT JUSTICE?

I'm flattered...

You've made 6 posts and one of them was to me...Thats why i'm a legend around here...Note the difference between "here" and "hear"...Provoking people like yourself, who rarely post, to add any comments, no matter how stupid, is an achievement...

No, it is not justice to me. Everything is relative, KD.

Tell me, what was the motive for the patricide and arson? Seems a lot of pent up anger involved.

You'll have do better than that Bluesboy...I am amused with people who still use gay disses from the 1970's...

I agree CV...From what i've heard there was some sexual and mental abuse taking place in the household that played a huge factor in answering the question of "Why did it happen"...

That does not excuse the fact that the two boys killed their father tho...The problem with sentencing kids is that there are 100's of variables that cause kids to do certain things...Its not equal justice when a murder in California earns a 15 year old 50 years and a murder in Florida could have been life but now the 13 year olds could get juvi hall instead...

IMHO

If I sexually abuse my children - hell if I abuse them in any way, I deserve it if I fuck their heads up to the point that they snap and kill me.

The brothers killed 1.

There are 6 additional counts of murder on the one boy.Of course hes going to geta stronger sentence.
You are missing the point.

The ''why'' is important.

Different state, different standard. Yes frustrating aometimes.

I have to disagree that children should never made responsible of their mistake as adults. They should be helped, not to put in prison.

ok sorry to hered about your brothers too.

Exactly what is the point??

The court system sucks, I even know that. Adults have served probation for murder where others have been put to death, but if we are going to compare cases here, lets compare apples to apples.
Read Rhumb's post right above you, please.

Lets try to agree on some issues...

A murder is a murder is a murder and it doesn't matter in a court of law if someone kills 10 people or just one...Its still murder...That seems fair to me...

My issues are with the punishment when it comes to equal justice under the law when the convicted are 12, 13, and 15 year old kids...

Why are 13 year olds being tried as adults to begin with...13 year olds don't get "adult rights" for being good kids and staying out of trouble but when they committ a crime all of a sudden they become "adults"...

Why should 15 year olds who kill in California get 50 years to life and 13 year olds in Florida who kill get a sentence that could be far more leniant...The kid in California faced up to 435 years in jail...That in itself is a ridiculous sentence...Had it been a capital murder conviction in Florida the 13 year olds get life with no chance to ever get out...Is that really humane or fair to tell 13 year old kids that you'll never be free cuz you killed someone in Florida but had you killed that person in Utah you would prolly serve 30 years and get a second chance...
