Morning all. Had a very full weekend in NYC. Put up the shelving that will hold the gear for my digital recording studio. Had a date with the Shebabe Saturday night. The Marathon was literally right outside our window, about mile 15. And very good West Side friends came over for da-Giants, da-Jets (man did they blow it), my famous chili and our infant son, who they had not seen in months. A highly productive weekend.
I had not witnessed the Marathon since moving here - I'll try not to miss one again - it is so uplifting that it's nearly indescribable. The Wheel Chair racers are absolutely incredible. I pride myself on being a pretty though - check my emotions sort of guy. But seeing these people haul ass past thousands of cheering screaming people - well it just got to me. And then after the speedsters pass - the Moroccan leader/eventual winner, zipped past us looking to me to be at nearly a full sprint - at mile 15(!) - after the speedsters the throngs start streaming in - thousands upon thousands - I calculated 10 to 20 per second passed us. I saw entrant numbers above 40K!!! And the color? Oh my god! All shapes and sizes - lots in costume - a blue haired Elvis, a guy strumming his guitar as he ran. And all the way, parties along the route - rock bands playing about every hundred yards - people hanging from fire escapes and balconies.
I tell ya - just too cool. Next year I just might get the gumption to do it myself - maybe.
But that's a year away and today is now - have a good today. I will do so. About a 9.5 today. Later.
