100 votes!

That's right, I do get an AV of my very own now. Carson has the market cornered on gay sailors, so I guess I'll have to post of a bi Lit author.:D

I hope nobody gets offended by this...

The gay sailor thing reminds me of an old Village People song (reworded Lol)

In the Navy, you can learn to be a queer,
In the Navy, you can get it up the rear...

The Village People were brilliant in a very distinct way.

If you don't believe me, then you haven't seen a vehement homophobe strutting and singing to himself "Macho Man".

Funniest...thing...ever!

Offended? We have a word for it:

CAMP!

I love a man in uniform, esp. when his uniform consists of a striped Speedo, a sailor hat and a smile. Although usually I prefer the Marine type and not the Navy....;)

PS: I no longer have 100 votes. Only 96... but they must've been trolls 'cause now my score has shot up to 4.81! Yeeehhaaa, I'm number... well, #2.

Yay! The trolls have been sent back beneath their bridge for the time being. 'In The Navy' is great, too bad your AV cant dance. :)

I say, OhMissScarlett: lovely neck though it is, and a huge improvement over the sad empty space from before, I am not getting a "bi Lit author" vibe from it. Not really, not expressly, if you get me.

But I am drawing a blank about what would do that particular trick. Let's put our whole minds to it!

Maybe a stroke of genius will happen, right before our avs.:)

Oh, thank you, I suppose it is an improvement over the gray blank area. Well, I'm sure we can come up with something that suits me more. Though, if I ever get my halloween story posted, you'll definitely get a bi Lit author vibe from that.

Sigh. Apparently people just didn't "get" Ralphie. Thought I was a bit "off".

Ummm....

People don't "get" Beckett. There is only one proper response to this.

Sod them.

I don't much "get" Beckett myself. If only you had compared me to Wilde...;)

Hey... check out this site. Found it last night whilst searching for the gay sailor and immediately thought of you darling.

Really awesome vintage erotica, naughty pictures, etc. You will love it.

Verry clever.

But! About a third of my Incest readership's feedback was virulently negative. They tend to set distinct boundaries you really must not cross. The votes, too, were all over the scale. It's a vivid story with a few lumpy flaws in it, but there's an element of force just at first. The force thing pushed buttons in a lot of the readers.

Another incest author told me the landscape of the incest genre is littered with booby traps and landmines. Not just force, but contexts, ages, degrees of consanguinuity. Very particular bunch.

Isn't it funny that something that's all about breaking taboos has... so many taboos?

100 too!

My Halloween incest entry 'Sister Nun' has exactly 100 votes but is rated 4.21.

My only other stories to exceed 99 votes are 'Virgin's Sister' - Incest again - on 144 votes since being posted on 3 July this year and 'Breastfeeding Class' with 129 votes in two YEARS. That was 'Fetish' and I think I got the votes and views for the title, not the story.

The other 80 odd stories? Some haven't reached 10 votes; most are well short of 25 votes.

Back to the smoking wordprocessor and more stories about sisters.

Congrats Carson, it makes you feel good to know folks appreciate your work. I got blown away by Cant Dog saying he got 97,700 views with 458 votes. WOW!

I've got one solitary story up so far but having read this thread I'm a bit pleased it has 101 votes from a readership of 13,622 and is sitting at 4.76. It's out there amongst 13,000 other Erotic Coupling stories so maybe it's doing okay? One day soon when the muse finds me I do hope to finish the other chapters...:)

Category makes huge differences

I now have 23-stories.

#22 was an incest/taboo mother/son story. No lie. First day, 45,000 reads, over 200 votes. Been two weeks, 123,000 reads, 319 votes, 4.76 score.

I totaled up all reads, votes, and scores. Too much time on my hands. But, a fraction under 1,000,000 reads, 5 or 6 stories with over 200 votes, all with over minimums needed to rate scores. 20 of 23 received "H's".

I'm a happy author.

Request more reads, more feedback.

My earliest posted piece on here, 'Kate' Ch. 1, posted July 2000, in Mature, has staggered to 291 votes, with 86,000+ views. An Incest/Taboo piece, 'Laying the ghost', posted February this year, has 251, from 57,000+ views.

35 pieces posted, including 3 poems and a 'How-To' (which got 1-bombed the other day!), 16 of them with over 200 votes. Most votes for an 'Erotic Couplings' piece, as it turns out. The least, 3, for one of my poems (there's a surprise). Nearly 1,500,000 views total.

Like mtnman2003 says, however, more feedback please. Yes, I'm greedy, but while votes are good, feedback is fuel for the muse.

"Incest" continues to be the record-setter. carson's tale is in a slow voting category, though, and 100 votes is outstanding there. It's damn good, too.

Did you read it? Aw... shucks! Thanks, I'm all a-quiver over words of praise from a writer of your stature...

It's the category, stupid! (No offense.)

One of my pet peeves is that the category you post your story to seriously impacts the number of views and # of votes one receives. I posted a Loving Wives story that went over 100 votes in less than a week. Total views (in about 3 months): over 30,000.

I have one Erotic Couplings story. It received 245 votes and 67,000 views.

But check this out: My non-consent story has 350 votes and 107,000 views.

But: my best work by far is a series of romantic stories I wrote, 29 chapters in all. Yet only 5 of them went over 100 votes, and the most views of any of the chapters is about 23,000.

Based upon this admittedly unscientific survey, I would recommend writing non-consent stories, followed by Loving Wives, followed by Erotic Couplings. Stay away from those damn romances. No one on this website is interested.

Cretins. You're all cretins!

Um

Just who is the cretins? The readers? The romance authors? The gay sailors?

I find it interesting that certain readerships act differently than others do. Why, I ask myself, do the Incest readers get so bent about certain factors in a story, and feel so impelled to punish the author who crosses the lines? Why do Non-Consent stories always have the victims of the rapes achieve orgasm "against their will"? Is it that the readers demand it? Does that make it all okay in some way?

Why do Loving Wives people hate it when a story of a husband stepping out for some strange pussy comes along? Why would one kind of kinky person vote more often than another kind of person?

I think it offers insight into the nature of the kinks and the people who have them.

D. All of the above?

Sometimes I think how well a story does has as much to do with title and description as the category in which it's posted. Though, even announcing your intended kink in the description wont save you from harsh comments. There are always those readers who read your entire story, then come down with a case of "reader's remorse" when they go to wipe off and post their comment.

Yeah, come to think of it, I do notice hostility in other categories. It just struck me more forcibly in the incest thing because so much of it hit all at once. Most of that voting and all of the feedbacks were just when the story was on the "New" list.

I have no idea what this means, but I swear I have never gotten a hostile or negative feedback. (Except one and I know who it was from.) Most of mine are really polite and sometimes gushing. It must be the gay sailor pic.
