is there a correlation between fundraising and winning the presidency?

I dont think i’ve ever seen data on that.

Also, trump is on track to raise less than in 2020…

It's not clear how strong it is, or whether it's a matter of correlation rather than causation. In other words, one candidate may raise more funds than another because that candidate is perceived as more likely to win, but the money spent didn't necessarily make much difference.

The Democrats significantly outraised and outspent the Republicans in the last two elections and appear headed to doing so again this year.
