No direct experience -- because I'm competent in arithmetic and the advertised per/minute rates are mor than my budget can take.

Newspaper stories about people who had to declare bankruptcy because of a child dialing a 1-900 number also contribute to a severe lack of interest.

1-900 numbers are for suckers with very deep pockets.

dont even think of calling one my cousin fucked over his parents good by call all the time. it was something like $7000 all set in done. Now there phones cant dail numbers like that!!!

My ex-boyfriend and I tried a 900 number a few times. He was a swinger...I wasn't...he wanted to get me into the swinging lifestyle. (Didn't work, but hey, we gave it a shot.) So we took babysteps, and one of those steps was having phone sex with a third person. A person we didn't know. Thus, the 900 number.

The woman we talked with the first time played like she was quite nice, quite understanding, but I got the distinct impression she wanted to keep us on the phone a very long time...which, of course, was the point for her, I guess. She didn't tell us how much it would cost, even when we asked ("I'll make it worth it") and the bill was horrendous.

The second one was friendly and open, hot as hell, and my ex really enjoyed her. She asked us how long we wanted to stay on the phone and informed us of the charges up front. Sure enough, her assesement of charges was dead-on when we got the bill.

There was a bit of thrill to the 'anonymous' thing...knowing we could say anything we wanted and not have to see it come back and bite us later. But at the same time, the anonymous part was the downside...because it was impossible to know whether or not she was enjoying it (of course), what her preferences were, things like that. It was strange to be pleased and not be expected to please right back. I guess I needed that element there. And I have to have an emotional connection to truly enjoy it at all.

Be careful of those charges, though...make sure you know what they are. Some 900 services have a cut-off...if you tell them thirty minutes, they don't go over that. It's a good way to control the cost.

Bottom line for me...useful for some things, overrated for the most part.

I'm not looking for romance, just an erotic experience ... something new. And yes, I know that they cost money. But if I make sure that I know what the charges are ahead of time ...
