..... or should I say 21 grams ?

What a superb movie.
I've only watched this and 'Amores Perros' but Innaritu is a genious I think. Great director.

You should really watch '21 grams'. It's got an interesting, intertwined story. Great editing. Powerful images and music.
And the actors ? Oh my god. Benicio Del Torro, Naomi Watts and Sean Penn really show what they're capable of and what great actors they are.
Everything in this movie fits.

The only negative things I can say that at times (2/3 into the movie) it get's a bit slow and you have to really focus on your concentration and it's a VERY depressive movie. You shouldn't watch it when you're down.

But it's full of emotion, drama, sadness, tragedy and some love.
A real powerful cocktail of human feelings.

To anyone who doesn't know what it's about: (it needs some time to figure it out by watching the movie itself)

It's basically about three people. A struggling-with-life Benicio Del Torro who's gone through drugs, crime and jail just to find god, get back with his family and become a religious 'fanatic' seeking his second chance.
Then there's Naomi Watts' character, an ex-drug-addict, happily married with two daughters. Everything seem to go well in her life now that she found personal luck and got over the drugs.
Finally there's Sean Penn's character, suffering from a decaying heart, desperately in need of a transplantation. His wife has problems getting a child and needs surgery as well so they seek for artificial pregnany (in lack of a better term here) before her husband dies.

One day the stories come together by an accident......

Twenty-one g the weight of soul?

Well, when a man dies, his muscles dirate (before and after his body going "woody"). That means, his shit and pee and snot and what not coming out of his body.

Obviously one man had just been to toilet while another had not. Therefore, on average, 21g seem to be the mass-weight difference.

Benito and Sean are always good.

No, I haven't watched the movie.

Benito is doing Che Guebara? Whould be cool.

Snoops, I'm glad you liked the film. But didn't you feel good at the end? It's raw in so much emotion, yes, but so true I did not feel depressed at all. It was beautiful to me, in the best sense.

The men were fine but Naomi Watts was truly brilliant. After seeing this film I rented everything available of her on DVD.

cheers, Perdita

The idea of a human being emptying his/her bowels and bladder when he/she dies, destroys the whole beautiful, spiritual concept of the 21-grammes-theory...

havent seen the movie..
have no desire to
have held and cared for way too many people as they died and not once instance did i find it romantic.

vellala, don't see the movie if you don't want to, but I want to let others know there is absolutely nothing romantic in this film, certainly not death, loss or grief. P.

Don't give too much about the soul-thing. It isn't really adressed in the movie until the very end. So it's more like philosophical.

Well, you know I love 'Amores Perros', now you know I love '21 grams' if only I could get a grip on 'Y Tu Mama Tambien' (spelling?)
Innaritu could become one of my favs. :)

I'm not saying that in the end there are some positive things to be found but the overall impression left me rather sad and depressed other than optimistic. But I guess it works different for every single person. Also has to do with personal experiences and all. But that's the beauty about movies, isn't it? We saw the exact same thing but felt toally different.
