Dang I feel bad for you - they need to eat for the strength and stamina. But then if they are not feeling too fantastic they lose their appetite. I convinced my mom to start drinking Ensure to get some protein daily after she broke her knee and had surgery. It’s a vicious circle for them with the appetite.I’m trying to convince my mom to eat.
I’m trying to talk her into a protein shake. I’ve offered to make her favorite soups. Mashed potatoes, grits, toast….anything!Dang I feel bad for you - they need to eat for the strength and stamina. Yep - I get it. My mom would eat two bites of eggs or mashed potatoes - push away the plate. I’m full. I can’t eat. I’d plead with her - you need to eat because you complain you’re so weak. And she was weak. It’s hard. I feel for you. I truly do.I’m trying to talk her into a protein shake. I’ve offered to make her favorite soups. Mashed potatoes, grits, toast….anything!

Little victories. Just the attention you’re paying her is an incredible service — even if she can’t appreciate it the way she would in better times, others do, I’m sure.I got her to eat half a turkey sandwich. I’m thrilled. All she had eaten today was 1/2 a hard boiled egg.

It is really more than we are ever prepared for…especially emotionally. It’s a lot but I’m glad I have the privilege.Little victories. Just the attention you’re paying her is an incredible service — even if she can’t appreciate it the way she would in better times, others do, I’m sure.
It’s also inspirational. I think about this scenario all the time and reading about self-sacrifice in service to one’s aging parents helps prepare me for the coming years.
What kind of cookiesEveryone is finally fed and I’m staying warm in my couch but I didn’t make cookies last night so maybe I’ll make them tonight.
